Welte-Mignon Titanic Orchestrion at Siegfried's Mechanisches Musikkabinett
มุมมอง 1503 หลายเดือนก่อน
This orchestrion may have been the orchestrion that was supposed to be on the legendary Titanic. The reason there was no orchestrion on the Titanic is because they didn't ship it in time for the ship's departure. There's two of these orchestrions in existence, but no one is sure which one was supposed to be on the Titanic.

Oldest Known Hupfeld Phonoliszt Violina at Siegfried's Mechanisches Musikkabinett
มุมมอง 3753 หลายเดือนก่อน
As the title says, this is the oldest known version of the Hupfeld Phonoliszt-Violina in existence today. The violins are VERY out of tune since the weighted tuning mechanism Hupfeld invented had not been developed yet. It is suspected that this instrument is from around 1909 which is EXTREMELY early since the instrument was invented in 1907. The video is much shorter than normal because we did...

This is a video of the Popper's Ohio orchestrion with all instruments except for the piano and percussion turned off. It is set like that in this video so the sound of the flex-a-tone can be heard loud and clear over the piano. I tried to get the best angles I could of the mechanism that controls it, but the actual flex-a-tone is on top of the orchestrion. The string going upward goes to the pa...

    Aspen’s Music & Restoration It has a Violin Trio. 3 Violins surrounded by a Cast Iron Bow wheel that spins to bow the strings, & mechanical tangents on the necks of the Violins to fret them. It's like as if a player Piano & a Hurdy Gurdy had a Baby.

      Well, yes. I am quite aware of how it works and this one is a bit more complicated. Not only does it have the player piano and trio of violins, but this one also contains several ranks of pipes and drums to accompany the music. It's the last remaining Violina-Orchestra in the world!

    In reality, the story of an orchestrion on the titanic is a myth, the first of this model of "philharmonie" organs and orchestrions was released after the ship was already fitted out. A good part of the myth also is probably early confusion with the Britannic's larger welte Philharmonie pipe organ.The instrument in the Bruschal museum does show many signs of being built for a ship, but probably a German yacht or ocean liner. There is also at least 4 if not more of this model surviving.

    • @retr0la
      @retr0la 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      As Aspen already noted, the tours are 45 minutes because cruise guides keep lowering the time limit the guests spend there. In that time you cannot possibly play the entire songs of all instruments, as you would have to spend 4 hours in order to listen to all the full songs. It isn't "ignorance", it's simply keeping track of the time limitations. Besides in the main tour all except three play the full songs.
