what a joke this exhibition ! MOst of embroideries are from Turkmenistan a culture who became muslim very lately ! these embroideries belonged to the Chamanist Cultures therfore most of motives pre-date Islam ! Most of motives are not at all Islamic! I would imagine to see some curtains from the Kaaba yes I would imagine to see some embroidered Syrian or Ottoman prayer rug or hanging I would imagine to see some Portière for the door of the Mosque but not all these very late and rather ugly Central Asian embroideries !

It’s pre Islamic designs ..... and they did use animal and human designs even today .... it should be called embroidery from Muslim majority countries . Most of the turkcoman fir example have very little influence thru Islam on their textiles
