I'm just new here. This is a life experiment.
Why I Recommend the Aeropress for Beginners
I've been using the Aeropress almost every day since April this year. I've been so pleased with my daily cup that I've not considered upgrading or making big changes. This is also why I'm confident in recommending this manual coffee maker especially for those who are just starting out.

How I Clean My TWSBI 580

I have disassembled TWSBI 580s nearly 20 times in total. And yes, I've broken a couple of barrels because I used the wrong solvent for cleaning them.
Moft Z

I purchased the Moft Z on sale in Shopee. I've been thinking of getting a height-adjustable desk for a while but thought of getting the Moft Z instead. Motorized desks also eventually break down and sellers would often stop supporting certain products after a few years.

KINGrinder K6

This is a quick video about the KINGrinder K6. KINGrider is a new player in manual hand grinders. I've read somewhere, and my dealer also mentioned that owners of KINGrinders were once affiliated with those of 1zpresso.

October 2018 | Barwin&Elle's Davao Wedding Trip Kusina Leticia was our second favorite restaurant during our visit to Davao. They serve Filipino dishes and you can feel that there was love added to the cooking. The restaurant is warmed by friendly and attentive staff who had helpful recommendations. Super sarap and sulit!

October 2018 | Barwin&Elle's Davao Wedding Trip Hung out with the gang in the best and tastiest place we dined in Davao. Everything on the menu was good. The ambience was very relaxed and I believe there's a speakeasy on the second floor. Went there with my favourite people.

This is great! I want to get a TWBI but I wanted to see how easy cleaning the feed was and all the other videos I watched just went over the piston.
Hello kmsta k6 mo? Any idea how to calibrate it back to 0 mine is like 5clicks past 0
Halloo! Mine went past 0 na rin. I haven’t bothered to re allign it. 😅
Thanks it was super easy to do with your video
You have the best tutorial for this! 🙂 All important aspects are highlighted and presented beautifully!
I messed up by placing the bearing cover upside down. Is there a way to get it out now or is it permanently stuck?
Hi! Have you sorted this out? The bearing cover is the one with the grove for the C-clip right? I'm sure you can gently or vigorously tap the opposite side for it to come out.
@@joandrea Hi. I've tried this just now, but to no avail. I've also tried pressing on the bottom of the burr and trying to get the bearing cover out using tweezers, but again to no avail. By the way, there is a hexagonal socket under the burr, do you think the bottom of the burr can be removed using a hex key? I think there should a proper warning in the manual with a warning symbol and red font, so that others won't make this mistake, which appears to render the grinder unusable.
@@nsaiswatching I just grabbed my grinder to check what you're saying. It's weird that it won't come off even if you push up on the burr. Did you make sure the grinder is loosened all the way (counter clockwise). Also, I tried putting my bearing cover upside down too, and it is easily removable. So the issue might be different. Maybe debris is between the burr cover and cylinder which is preventing it from coming loose. I also see the hexagon socket at the bottom of the burr. If it were me, yes, I'd go ahead and loosen that and see what will happen. Since everything else you've tried doesn't seem to work.
@@nsaiswatching i'll send you a message on your IG
@@joandrea I appreciate your effort to help. I think you're right. There may be some debris under the bearing cover (coffee grinds). I'll see whether removing the debris can help. Thank you!
Yeap. Confirms it, I just somehow snapped part of the feeder off in the end of the barrel. I was even being gentle.
Can you change the nib of that?
Yes. Spare nibs of different nib sizes can be purchased separately for the TWSBi 580.
Toilet break!! I hope you had fun shitting
Wow ! This video is very beautiful, this deserves more recognition
This was super helpful, thank you!
Is it possible to re-align the grinder to zero??? Or is it possible to apply 1Zpresso's alignment instructions to the KINGrinder?
Hello! I’ve had a couple of viewers who said they were NOT able to realign it to zero. I don’t own a 1Zpresso so I don’t know if you can do the same. However, you could try! :)
It's better to rinse with water first.. before disassembly
Hi everyone, my k4 adjustment dial broke off, please guide me on how to assemble it thanks
Thanks for sharing, really useful steps
Very helpful video, thank you. Before disassembling my 0 point was a couple turns past the 0, now it's a couple prior. I wonder if there's a way to get it bang on 0.
a couple of people said that theirs aren't on the zero either. Mine is a few clicks off. And it's okay. :) Not sure if there is a way to get it at zero thru installation tweeks.
@@joandrea I had a bit of a mess around but nothing would get it bang on 0, it was only ever out by like 2 clicks though so not an issue, not even worth remembering the slight offset. Just used your video again to clean out after switching beans, so thanks again haha
@@andrew2272kag instagram.com/reel/CZ0mgZOoxGHcWeOXo6JVw2pTrbUNghkB1eg2kA0/?igshid=MzRlODBiNWFlZA== I don't think it's included in this video, since I found out later on, that you can unscrew the top part completely off the body of the grinder. So you can clean it more deeply. This is a short reel where you see me unscrew it all the way. Then, screwing it back on is basically just letting the ridges catch each other to screw back on.
@@joandreaah wow nice one, thank you very much, I literally just came back to make sure I got the indents the right way round for another cleaning, I will check this out
Please know that zero is true zero. There is play to turn it tighter than zero on purpose to protect burrs, this is what KinGrinder themselves emailed me in answer to my query. Also never try to turn grinder at a level smaller than 15 clicks. I have disassembled mine several times by turning it to max setting and leaving it there while cleaning and reassembled.
TY!!! I thought I broke mine and this helped me clean/put it all back together. Today was a good day!
wow seems hard 😅 not sure I will take a kingrinder finally 🤣
Using it with Breville Barista Expressl Dialed in a Single Origin medium roast bean at 31 clicks but using an IMS filter basket. 18g In 45 out in 45 secs(1st drip). Tasted chocolatey (not sour). This right on the edge of capabilities of BBE (15bars may not be enough at 30 clicks due to fine grain)
The nib collar has notches to accept the feed in the correct orientation. DO NOT twist and pull to remove the nib and feed-just pull.
I should have known that. It’s obvious when someone just told you. 😂
Really nicely made with the graphics! Thanks!
Thanks i will buy it later with my save
Thank you!
Can I buy replacement parts for the inside?
So helpful! Thanks❤
i removed the c clip but the burr wont naturally fall off any tips? thanjs
I push it down, out from the body. Or check alignment. Sometimes it’s the opposite for me and it won’t go back up when assembling. I use a combination of force and turning it. And it will come up smooth.
good tutorial. do you know where to stack on extra c-clips? I already lost one of the clips and I wanna stack a lot of them for safety
I haven’t encountered spare parts for sale from Kingrider dealers here. I think you’d have to get creative in case that C-clip gets lost. Metal wire for home construction, or wire from a paper clip.
Thanks for the in depth explanation, I’ve had my K4 for 3 weeks now and at first struggled with grind size for espresso which I wasted a lot of beans! I stripped and cleaned it following your instructions and hopefully can get the settings right 👍🏻
Good luck in finding your settings. I"m a set-and-forget kind of person for my daily brew. I'm always at 90 clicks for the Aeropress. :)
Thank you so much! This made it 100x easier. Still unnecessarily hard but better than it was
That's a terribly wrong and completely unnecessary way of cleaning a TWSBI 580. You're turning a small, simple task into a huge, complicated task, and taking a huge rish of breaking the pen when you don't have to do so.
Thank you very much, this has been a big help! I love my TWSBI’s but they need some TLC and I didn’t want to damage them.
Why the hell would they hide that spanner etc under the packaging, I threw that away ages ago.
Oh no. I guess you can ask a friend with multiple Twsbis. Since you only need one, everything else is extra.
What is your thoughts on the k4? Is it good for espresso?
Sorry I'm not familiar with the other models, more so because, I don’t make espresso. There’s a facebook group: Kingrinder Users Ph, KINGRINDERS BREWERS GROUP PH, which are both based in the Philippines, but are both English-speaking groups. :)
Nice content, filming, and music.
Hello. The zero click on my unit isn't aligned with the zero printed on the grinder. I've seen some people with the same complaint. Is that actually normal or not?
Send me a message on my IG with the photo. _joandrea
@@joandrea mine doesn’t go back to zero either in fact goes past by about 1/6th of a turn? which is where the burrs touch
@@dingnextstop hello. I heard from others that their unit also doesn't go back to zero. So they just measure the clicks from their default point. This is provided you got it that way or reassembled correctly.
@@joandrea it arrived that way, yes I already knew how to assemble it from other you tubers👍🏻
@@dingnextstopcan you share how? Did you disassembled and reassemble it?
Thank you so much, this was super helpful.
Glad it helped! Please avoid using oils and alcohols with your TWSBI barrels. :)
salamat po sa tips, konting kape lang tiniis ko ang medyo matapang. ngayon nakuha ko na yung right grind size with the K6, ang inadjust ko nalang ay ang rest time of boiling water (need i-swirl para mas lumamig agad) for a dark roast free galing Barista Essential para tama lang yung taste para sa amin ng misis ko.
For dark roast beans, you'll need to adjust the grind size to coarse. Super fast niyang mag extract ng coffee. Isa pa, dapat yung water mo, hindi off the boil. Try pouring 30seconds to 1 minute off the boil. (hindi ko preference ang dark roast kasi mapait nga) Konting eksperimento ka pa to get that perfect cup for dark roast. Lalo na, at karaniwan ang dark roast sa market ng beans sa Maynila. Those who do medium/medium-light roast, i think, are a bit pricier. Kasi it takes certain finesse to get those lighter roasts evenly. :)
@@joandrea nag try ako 2 mins 30 secs after boiling. okay siya for our taste. hehehe. thank you so much.
@@johnrolan6242 ilang clicks sa k6? dark roast?
dahil sayo instead of 1zpresso JX pro bibilihin ko, naging Kingrinder K6. hehehe. Thank you, save 500-1000 pesos with a better grinder (i think).👍
excited to try James Hoffmann's ultimate Aeropress recipe.
I will try the Hoffman Method tomorrow. I will use a different grind setting for that technique. Coarser. Kasi the coffee grounds are immersed longer in water. Balikan kita with the outcome tomorrow Vs Alan Adler’s original recipe.
@@joandrea kamusta?
just bought a kingrinder K6 and aeropress today. thank you for your video tutorials.
Congrats, John! I got both of those as well, it's been 9 months now and I haven't even thought of upgrading. It has been fun trying out different beans and brew techniques using only these two tools and an electric kettle. :)
@@joandrea bumili din ako ng timemore black mirror scale as planned. newbie to coffee pero magastos. I'll be still using our ordinary electric kettle. Btw, pwede na ba gamitin agad ang grinder out of the box?
@@johnrolan6242 oo naman! Btw, ang grind setting ko sa Kingrinder is 70clicks for aeropress. 60-70. Pero nangangalay ako sa 60. T_T Naiinis sa akin friend ko kasi hindi ako gumagamit ng scale. Haha.. Hay tsaka na kapag may christmas bonus. Mas magatos gamit pang gawa ng youtube videos.
@@johnrolan6242 Nakalimutan kong banggitin na do the anti-static method where you spray your beans, or mix 1-2 drops of water before you grind, para hindi siya maipon sa ilalim ng burs mo. :)
@@joandrea thank you
My 0 doesn't stop at zero. How to tune?
Is your kingrinder k4/k6? My K6 always go back to zero.
@@joandrea mine is k4 and it isn't at 0 too
In 2:24, did you put it back the same way?
Also check 2:44
Sorry I just saw your message now. Did you figure it out?
did you by any chance thought of getting the 1zpresso JX-Pro over the K6? if yes, why did you went for the K6?
Hi, Gino. Yes I did. I had a good talk with my seller about it, he recommended the KINgrinder. Altho KINgrinder is less popular, there were a few things I like about it better. First, the external dial, which is equivalent to the K-pros of 1zpresso. Second, which I found out later on-when putting the KINgrinder back after disassembly, there is no need for recalibration. I think some of the 1zpresso grinders need calibration to zero even before you start using it. Hope this helps. :)
appreciate the info. i am currently using a manual grinder i got from fresh batch coffee company with an external dial however it is limited to 6 settings only. so i was looking for an upgrade and the kingrider k4/k6 and the 1zpresso jx-pro caught my interest. still torn to which one to get 😅
alas. paradox of choice. 😅
Such a helpful video!! Thank you for all your effort and clear explanations
Glad it helped. Btw I recently discovered that the top part of the barrel with the numbers can be detached. You loosen it all the way and it will come off for a better clean. Then you put it back on by applying a bit of pressure and rotate to tighten.
Hi, ganu katagal ang pag grind for the KINGrinder for fine grind? And how many grams of coffee beans did you use? Salamat.
Hello. Isang aeropress scoop. 16g. Matagal kapag fine. Siguro isang minuto mahigit at 50 to 60 clicks. 70 clicks 40 seconds. 80 clicks 20 seconds.
@@joandrea Nice, good enough for me, salamat sa reply.
Geat job! More brew method review with the KINGrinder K6 please :)
Ahahaha.. I only have one brew method. 😅
@@joandrea We look forward to you develop more brew method :)

Thanks for this...by far my favorite bar in Davao! About 15 of us there for my 57th birthday..great food, let us bring Champagne and even had real Champagne buckets and flutes. Place has a hip, very smooth vibe. A bit like a hot new joint in New York city...the chef knows what he is doing. Will be the 1st evening out when we get back to Davao in February.
My sentiments are the same. My friends and I were visiting Davao for a wedding and I don't even remember how we ended up in Huckleberry. But I'm glad we did, the food was really good, and the ambiance was relaxed. Ended up going there twice in my three-day stay in Davao. :) I will try the drinks next time we visit.
