    I'll tell ya right now, the S3 lined pants are awesome! I'm working in Southeastern Massachusetts and my legs are never cold. I also have the regular S2 pants. Truewerks pants are absolutely the most comfortable work pants I've ever had in 30 years of working construction. I'll come back at the end of 2025 and tell ya about the durability.

    Have you ever used a collins coping foot on a jigsaw for copes? If not and you have a big trim job upcoming look into seeing if one fits on your jigsaw. I have only been doing finish carpentry on and off for about 8 years, cope everything and have never used a coping saw. The coping foot and 2 dremels make quick work of them. Just a thought I had

    You did a good job. I've been thinking about diamondback. Been a Carpenter for 20 plus years. Same as you. Bad back. Bad shoulders. Bad knees. You know. Harder here in Canada because I'm paying close to 500 for something like this but you certainly have helped. Reminds me of the Kuneys I had. Plus I like the wider belt at the back. A definite advantage by diamondback.

    dude where is part 3? your style is refreshing to see and saving this old carriage house or barn or whatever it is called has earned my top praise which is not an easy thing to do!!! i came initially to see how to straighten a leaning garage as a tree fell on mine during a storm early summer and ended up watching your videos instead and then it just stopped!!! you definitely possess the skills required to do this project and many much larger ones too i imagine its just a damn shame your not my neighbour!!! keep up the wonderful work you are doing and maybe one day i will get a chance to see the trilogy!!!

    • @AMAYERICAN
      @AMAYERICAN 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      appreciate the words of encouragement! Part three is hopefully soon! haha its a passion project so i work on it when i have time. I love old barns/ houses. Sorry to hear about your garage, there should be plenty of videos on youtube about shoring things up. I think awesome framers had a recent video on jacking up a load bearing beam. Just make sure your jack is secure and use plenty of 2xs , framing nails or structural rated screws like GRK. Those accidents are way too common unfortunately. Again appreciate your encouragement, thats what keeps me posting. What part of the country you from?

    Theres nothing more satisfying than getting your boards parallel and staying that way the entire run and not having to start cheating one end to get parallel again. Using clamps as you put your decking down will keep your boards from those little micro amounts of movement that happens when you're driving a screw in just using your foot. I've seen a lot of guys put the first board down and don't even bother using a string to check how straight its running. Thats when you know it's going to be a long, frustrating job of constantly having to measure for parallel, cheating one end, etc. and they'll make those same mistakes every single job. Clamps only take a few extra seconds now, but they will save you a lot of minutes down the line when you realize the boards have drifted off course.

    Have you seen any long term results on joists that were taped with joist tape? And how many feet do you get out of a roll and the current cost? We were talking about buying some on a pier job a while back but the price wasn't very attractive and we had never used it and didnt really know if it justified the price at the time but that was shortly after Covid. A guy I knew that had been doing decks for a very long time said that he came across two decks that were about 80 years old and said the subframing was still good but said on both of those decks, they used felt paper on the tops of the joists/girders. Thats what they used a long time ago on decks and other outdoor structures before joist tape came out. But the wood treatments that they used then are now illegal because of eco reasons but they were a lot more effective than current treatment chems.

    • @AMAYERICAN
      @AMAYERICAN 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Man I haven’t been at it long enough yet to know, I was late to construction only been at it 8 years… but I definitely agree with you the changes to wood treatments due to regulations make me think any additional protection you can add is worth it!

    • @morokeiboethia6749
      @morokeiboethia6749 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@AMAYERICAN Have you had the pleasure of pulling an old piling up that was treated in creosote oil while not wearing a shirt? That stuff will really let you know you're alive about 5 minutes after it touches your skin! That was one of the old treatments from a long time ago that's been outlawed but that stuff would make wood last outdoors or in water for a very long time. Once you get it on your skin, you'll know why nothing wants to eat the wood that's been treated with it. The current treatments are pressure-pushed into the wood to help it penetrate deeper into the board but one of the bad things about that is that's what causes the pressure treated 2x lumber to have non-consistent widths down the length of the board. It makes the boards swell slightly and how much or how little the board swells depends on the grain pattern in the wood down the length of the board so that's why it doesn't swell evenly a lot of times. Every day guys who run the saw at the saw mills are cussed out by hundreds construction workers around the country b/c they see the inconsistent widths and they think its from a guy really drunk/high running a saw somewhere but the truth is its caused by the pressure treatment process.

    I love the cabot's wood stripper. I used it on my front porch and it worked great. Today, I used the remaining of my jug on my back deck and I ran out of product. My process is applying it with a sprayer and then washing it off with my Ryobi 1900 PSI pressure washer, works great. I went back and bought another Cabot's wood stripper, wood brightener, and Thompson's clear wood seal. I plan to use the brightener after i'm done stripping my deck, but i'm not sure if I'll use the Thompson's sealer or go with another product to seal/stain my deck.
