Woah woah woah did yall make an official stance on wolf head and not bat, dragon, or otherwise.
@@michaelbrubaker4285 officially we are wolfbats lol
What are the requirements you're trying to meet? Is it a gear matched endurance barrel where you fight people with their chosen gear until you win against them then go to the next?
Yup, pretty much! This trial was open invite to all challengers. Challengers could request P1 and Abu to either match gear or use their favored kit. The fights would continue until the challenger loses, simos don't count. There were intermittent special 2v1 or 2v2 challenges, which if weren't beaten within a certain time frame would cycle out so the 1v1 challenger line wouldn't stall for too long. I believe every 2v1 and 2v2 matchup was ultimately beaten. The trial ended after a minimum time had elapsed and there were no remaining new challengers in the line.
@@kyulicks Sick, well fought fellas.
10:07 dont teach lateral movement through the barrel of the arm without huge caveats. If you translate that rotation with any load on your weapon you WILL be giving yourself repetitive stress injuries in your elbows, tennis on the outside and or golfers on the inside depending if you are throwing shots supinating (back hand) or pronating (forehand)
Bangarang
Apologies for some audio weirdness throughout the video! When the audio cuts out near 16:30, P1 is talking about how the motion of the elbow and arm is difficult to track in real time, but when viewing and pausing video it becomes apparent how the bend in the elbow affects the range of a shot. The big idea is that the angle of the elbow and wrist can be used to wrap around a block. However, the more the elbow or wrist is bent, the less range that shot has because the arm is no longer fully extended. This is why the sphere of range is merely a zone of possible attacks, and that the type and angle of attacks changes as one gets closer and further from their opponent.
Did you really need to do shirts and skins for this one? I'm pretty sure we know who's on which team.
damnnn
Looks like fun, what are the swords make of? Id like to give this a try
These swords are made with closed cell polyethylene(?) foam on kitespar (fiberglass epoxy tube) cores!
That shield fucks
How's the after party?
Good fights! Bel's gotta be one of the best so hope y'all learned a lot!
Absolutely! Gave me all the motivation!
No that first one I lost instinct kicked in and my hand hit first trying to save her but I'd definitely do it again that was so much fun
Woo Sparks! Biggest robbery in bel history
vons hair is beautiful
0:42 I will always remember how fucking cool Kauffman Park practices were! Can't wait for your trials!
how many lefties are in this one park?! i counted like four on the right side!
lmao
So does Abu have to beat all three at once or is like wolf marrow beat ins where his opponents wounds carry over to the next round?
all 3 at once! 3 total attempts
Fun fights! I'll try to make it out to Milwaukee at some point.
I had a ton of fun fighting Abu, let's do it again soon! 26:52
Arnold classic when
Not me out here yet experiencing fomo
Field of bones sir!!
23:45 great foot work!
Perfect
Why do you hold the shields so close?
Foam weapons hitting foam covered shields create a lot of bounce. Having your shield further away from your body can make controlling that harder. There are still times when you want to do it, and the smaller your shield the more you'd want to project it so it covers more. I would have definitely liked to have seen the buckler using fighter extend a bit more, but obviously things still worked out for him.
I would assume it is because of the rules and or targets they're trying to hit.
PARRY + R1 opponents cant attack while youre in this state
Why don't you all extend your shieldhands? A shield kept close to the body is far less useful, especially if it's a buckler
This game is closer to a striking sport than traditional swordplay, in terms of cutting mechanics. A legal hit only needs to be a strike with sufficient force, and most often the boffers we use have omnidirectional striking surface, like a bat. This means that shots that "wrap" around the shield by turning over the wrist or arm late in a swing are a huge threat, similar to how a hook in boxing gets around a guard. Projecting a small shield would make wrap shots even harder to defend against. If edge alignment and slashing/cutting mechanics were more prioritized like in HEMA, then projecting the shield is more useful for sure!
Pt 2- That isn't to say that projecting the shield doesn't have its place- taking away lanes for straight chops is valuable too. Most fighters eventually find some balance between projecting their shield and leaving it close to home as best suits their own preferences.
This does not look good at all.
Going down on your knees and lunging at your opponent must be the by far stupidest way of fighting ever tried.
super impressive
Did you guys ban spreading out to stand on three sides of the solo fighter? Surrounding the solo fighter on 3 sides would be much more difficult. Not that its easy by any means as is
We did not set any tactical rules in place! Fighting a threat in three directions is absolutely harder than fighting one. However, there are certain tradeoffs you have to make when trying to achieve that position, which can make it tough if you don't have good communication or teamwork. Maybe we should make a reaction video to break down the good & bad that we see in these bouts? 🤔
@@kyulicks that would be amazing! I am watching as a layperson, so a lot of tactics/ moves kinda go over my head. Seeing a technical breakdown of something like this is great, as long as it doesn't lead to too much pressure or stress for you!
Go Owl! Glad you all can come down to OSU!
27:15 worst spin in cinematic history lmao
