Hi, Thank you so much for sharing this video!! You mentioned there is an if-then function. Can you share how to use that “sign” function? I seem to be getting an error.
Here is one link to C# reference docs.microsoft.com/en-us/dotnet/csharp/language-reference/operators/conditional-operator I hope it helps.
@@stindedesign thank you for sharing! Hoping for the best :)
Thank you for your video! I've never used the variables table for measurements, only a Tape measurement profile. I'm not sure I quite understand the difference between the two and why (or when) you would use one instead of the other. Is that something you would be willing to clarify?
The clearest definition is that Tape values are personal measurements and the variables table is for pattern related values.
HI...excelent presentation....but I need to stablish different segment of point in a line with 20 points or more...how can I insert a formula or function for that? thanks a lot.
Probably the easiest way is to create the segment with the endpoint and the add all needed point along the line. This applies to a direct line and a curve.
okay. thanks. do you have a basic body block on valentina?
I haven't made any video about it.
Yes so what are the layout changes you made? In the case of A8 the line width was not correct so what did you change it to? In the video this is at 24:05
The error was that I forgot to change the line from solid to none, when I created the node. The values are correct.
Thankyou so much for responding. A8 is (front panel waist width front) which you got by taking (front hook width-0.5= 5.6-0.5= 5.1cm) and A9 is (front panel width) which you got by taking (hip line/4-0= 7.6/4-0 =1.9cm) later on when you make the corrections it isn't shown on the video. Can you message me the changes you made to get the new values. Waiting for your response. Thankyou
The valueas are A8 #FrontPanelWaistWidthFront A9 #FrontPanelWidth The corrections I made in the video were layout changes. In the case of A8 the line width was not correct. If you need more, can you pinpoint the exact time in the video.
What are the 2 corrections you made At A8 and A9? You did not show us how to correct it too. Otherwise the video is wonderful
Thanks being so through. I’m not sure what was wrong in the video. However, all the values in the video are correct. I verified those in the original Valentina file.
Thanks very much for this very nice video which gave me better idea of the Valentina software.
Thanks
This was a great intro. Thank you.
Oh ! that's wonderful. A big big thank you to you, Sir, for this excellent work. Your video taught me 3 skills. 1- How to optimize the "Increments" in "Variable table". 2-How to correctly draw a Trousers basic block. 3-How to better use the tool "Point intersect line and axis". It was all really a lot. So thank you also, for the surprise of the download link of the file. Your excellent gift will allow me to progress further with valentina. Good continuation ! Hoping that Translate will have correctly translated my comment. Oh ! c'est magnifique. Un grand grand merci à vous, Monsieur, pour cet excellent travail. Votre vidéo m'a enseigné 3 compétences.
Thanks a lot. I'm very happy of your words.
Where can I purchase this softwear
Hi, It is open source and be downloaded in valentinaproject.bitbucket.io/
Greaat!!!! Thank you very much!!! Have you other tutorial? pleaseeeee :)) Thank you very much!
Yes, I have planned to do more. Hopefully, in a few months.
@@stindedesign Ohh fantastic! I will be very happy!! :)
I love it!!! Thank you, please make more tutorials! the video is very clear.
how do I knw the values to use
The measurement values are from the person you are making the trousers. The other adjustable values like hem height come from the design.
@@stindedesign thank you
Cómo lo puedo configurar en Español
No lo sé. No hablo español bastante bien.
Easy peasy. Go to "File" > "Preferences". On the "Configuration" (option) > (tab) "General" > "GUI Language" : select "español". Done!
Great Tutorial! Thank you so much for this video and the downloadable block.
Thanks
thanks for taking the time but I did not understand a single thing XD
I'm so sorry, if it was not understandable
Thank you for taking the time to create this great video. Is there any way to duplicate an existing pattern piece within the same project? one of my patterns is pretty much the same as another one except for a small variation and I don't wanna start all over the pattern piece from scratch. Thank you.
The easiest way is to save as another copy of the design and make the modifications in the new copy. I usually make the basic or minimum design as a base. Using the base for the alterations speeds up the design.
@@stindedesign Thank you very much for the advise. It makes perfect sense. Have a great day!!!
Can you please make a video on the detailing part. I know you are supposed to go only in a clockwise drection, but when darts and armhole curves for bodices, I always get stuck and the detailing gets all weird. Thank you!
Hi, I have planned to make more videos and detailing will be in it. When, I cannot guarantee, but I will.
@@stindedesign I'm still learning my way around with the software and most of the tutorials are in another langage so I was having some difficulty. Thank you!
Yes, please. This would be awesome!
@@stindedesign Alright, Thank you!
I'm getting so angry watching this. Why aren't you using your mouse? No one can see your keyboard!
I'm using mouse all the time, because Valentina cannot be used with keyboard. Can't you see the mouse?
Stinde Design At the beginning you were using your shift key. And it seems like you continued to do so to access menus. I am not even 15 minutes into your video and have to stop following. Too bad because it looked interesting.
The shift-click or two finger click are the ways in MAC to click 'right' mouse button. In Windows and Linux just click right mouse button. Every time the menu appears in the drawing the 'right' mouse button is clicked. I think it is very visible.
Hello again :), I have one more question: is it possible to rotate darts? And if, how? Thank you in advance for your answer. I could do Basic patterns but I don‘t know how I could change the patterns to do Style patterns
Hi. Yes you can with the rotate tools. Moving dart to another place, you close the existing dart and rotate all other points and curves between existing and new dart. The angle value is the angle difference of the left and right side of the existing dart.
Thank you for uploading this Video, very well done. But I have a question: how can I add marks to the pattern? For an easy sewing I need to have marks at some points. And I didn‘t figuered out how I can do that. Thank you in advance for your answer
Hi The Valentina program is evolving all the time. At the time of the video the passmarks were not available. The current version has those. I'm hoping to manage my time to create new videos.
I downloaded Valentina about one week ago. And the "Passmarks" are not available. I don't know if I do something wrong. But if I go to detail my pattern and do the seam allowance the "passmark" is not available.
The passmarks are in the detail properties. What version do you have?
Everything is fine now. I found the way to add Passmarks to the patterns . Thank you for your help.
Thanks so much! This was very helpful for understanding the basic mechanics of the program.
Does valentina work for creting new designs? Patterns without the instructions to create them? Also, how to turn current paper patterns into valentina? Thank you very much!
The key benefit of Valentina is the ability to scale the pattern. For the scaling the relations between the lines and points must be defined. The Valentina could be used just for drawing tool by using fixed values in all places. The scaling is not possible. Normally all lines are in relation to the body values and the pattern scales with the new measurements. The paper pattern is difficult to convert to a real pattern, because the relations to the body is not known.
Thank you very much, yes, the capability to scale is amazing, I figured that was the main competency. Thank you again for clarifying.
Just curious, are these men's or women's trousers?
These are for both. Changing the parameters it fit men and women.
Stinde Design Ok, thank you very much! I just bought a Müller & Sohn ebook on skirts and trousers to check it out!
Good, you will find the pattern in the book.
The pattern fits for both, by adjusting the values correctly. In men trousers is more ease. I'm using the same for both.
Thank you, I learn so much from your tutorials.

Great tutorial! And great pattern. Can't open the file though. I get the message: "Exception: Invalid version. Maximum supported version is 0.2.4" Which version are you using? I have 0.4.5 Do you have the file updated to a newer version?
Ok, I managed to fix the problem. I'm very happy to use the pattern now!:)
