any updates on the mileage on these shoes?
@@spacemen5097 Sorry, I am so behind on my reviews, expect to do this in the next couple weeks. But you can expect 500 miles.
Thinking of doing this, how much of path is one able to run on vs hiking / climbing?
@@demondeacons1995 I only did the 34 miler, but also asked the 50-milers and would say 65% is easily runnable, 25% more technical running, the rest hiking.

The Superstition Mountains are lovely. The area of Apache Junction is interesting. I try not to stop too much when I am out there running trails.
@kathrinivanovic8247 Lovely indeed! Our first trip to the US Southwest and were simply awestruck by the scenery. You are lucky to be able to run those trails! Thanks for watching!
I find it too firm…..128 miles to break in? Good God that’s silly
Yes, it took a while, but if you are going to get 150-200 more miles out of it then some other shoe, then it may be worth the wait.
The Endorphin Speed 1 is my favorite shoe of all time! The subsequent versions seemed to get worse over time to me. I have the Speed 4 now, and hopefully it is closer to the original feel wise, but I doubt it.
@@guysmith9353 I am liking this 4 the more miles I put on them. But from other comments and reviews comparing to the 1, yes, you’ll likely be disappointed.
You should try the Mizuno Wave Rider 27 or 28. They feel great, and they have a 12mm drop too.
@@guysmith9353 That’s a good suggestion. I’ve run in that shoe, but the last time was v. 23. I like it.
I had to size up to a 9.5...way too narrow in my regular size 9. And i get along fine with nike pegasus invincible and vomero which people say runs narrow
Yes, there are several reviews that agree with you. HOkA does offer it in wide, so if anyone is considering getting them, try them on before you buy them! Thanks for the input!
I wear tested the Ghost 1 when i managed a running store, this shoe is reliable and consistent. Its a shoe that most runners can wear daily. But in this era of high stack soft shoes, most runners won't even try it. Great review!
@@brucemihalick4117 Ghost 1??? You are dating yourself! 😂. As you note, this shoe has stayed consistent. Thanks for sharing!
This is great thank you. I had a stress fracture in 2023 and couldn’t run this. Trying again in 2024, so really excited :) thank you for posting
Glad you’re back and running! You won’t be disappointed, great race course. Thanks for watching!
Flatfoot can use it?
There are different types of flatfeet, so there is no one answer that fits all. But if you are shopping ASICS, the Gel-Keyano might be the better option as it provides more stability than the Novablast. Thanks for watching.
I bought these shoes a couple months ago and don't like them. They just feel too clunky to get good turnover. I haven't put many miles in them because of it. Maybe I'll give them a second chance when I start my 20 week half marathon training block in June.
I think you should take them to at least 100 miles then see how you feel about them. I definitely liked them better then than at mile 1. Thanks for sharing!
@@racethenation You were right, after about 70is miles in them they feel more molded to my feet. Maybe it's because I'm getting fitter and can load the plate better but I'm not feeling the weight as much. They aren't the most responsive shoe but they are enjoyable to run in and get a little bounce when I go tempo or higher. Thanks!
@@PatrickStar_24 That's great to hear! Very much appreciate the follow up! Happy running!
Cannot wait to get the 4s. Not yet in Singapore!
I think you will find them worth the wait!
Nothing comes close the speed 2, three ok the 4 like big pointed boats, the worst iteration as yet.
Ha! You certainly aren't the first person to say the Speed 2 was the best, however you may be the first to say the 4s are big pointed boats! I wish I had tried the 2s.
Nice review of the Speed 4. There's also the Endorphin Shift 3, but I think it's being discontinued.
I believe you are correct about the Shift. It's a max cushioned that I believe has been replaced by the Kinvara. Thanks for watching!
@@racethenation ...then there's the Kinvara Pro, which is a conundrum.
@@MyFatAdaptedLife Ha, indeed. It's sometimes quite difficult to tell what the difference is between models, but I believe any time Saucony adds "Pro" to the name it means the shoe has a carbon plate.

My observations of the Max are very similar to yours. It is a great do it all shoe that is extremely durable.
I like it when others have the same experience! Thanks for the input!
Thank you I was about to buy them :)
Thanks for watching!
Why would you buy this model when you have the speed 3, nimbus 25, triumph 21, novablast 4, cumulus, etc
I just love trying different brands/models of running shoes; it's one of my favorite things about running. I thought some folks would find it useful to know how the different shoes held up for 300 miles. So here I am. Plus, isn't variety the spice of life?🙂
Thanks for the review. I heard you are based in NC. Where about? I'm in Spencer NC.
Thanks for watching and yes, Hillsborough NC
BTW, do you have a favorite local race?
@racethenation I ran Reids Goldmine Half Marathon a couple times but that was years ago. They dont have that race anymore. Grandfather Mountain Marathon is my favorite.
@@wmcintyre1166Several folks from run club running Grandfather this year, they also love it. I'm not since doing Lost Dutchman in AZ week before, but one of these years. Happy trails!
do you think these shoes run true to size in the length? i have the nimbus 25 which fits well length wise, do these fit about the same?
I think they are slightly smaller than the Nimbus 25, very slightly. Just wear thinner socks! 😀
@@racethenation oh okay thank you!! do you think it's worth sizing up half a size or is the difference not that big?
@@mogumogi14 no. If possible, try them in first. But I wouldn’t recommend sizing up.

I have this shoe and relate 1000% to me doing the work- this shoe doesn’t help much and its my least used shoe for that reason. Thanks for the great review, wish I found it sooner!
Yeah, I think it will be a while before I try another Diadora. Thanks for watching and the comment! It's nice to know that other people are having the same experience as you (good or bad).
I was a runner from March 1979 to Oct 2022. Due to bilateral, age related meniscus tears, I had to quit. Now I'm a walker and a biker. I always ran with one pair of shoes for exactly one year. Can you say Shoe Goo ! I went from 6 miles 3x a week to 4.5 miles 3x a week before I quit. That's over 900 miles on one pair of shoes back in the day, and then about 675 to 700 as an old guy. Never was concerned about responsiveness and energy return. As long as I didn't get plantar fasciitis and I had shoe goo to fill in the worn heels, I was good to go . Except for a sprained ankle when I step on a rock in the road , I never had an injury until my knees acted up in Jan. 2022. Ran for 9 months with pain and then decided it wasn't worth it anymore. The MRI confirmed the diagnosis .It took about a year to be completely pain free. Now I'm just an old guy walking the streets watching all the young people running passed me. Time waits for no one.
The important part is that you are still out there moving forward! Certainly there are plenty of folks who just use one pair of shoes until they simply fall apart, and if that works for you, great! But there is no debating the shoe's support, cushioning, responsiveness, grip, etc. will break down over time. But everyone wants the most miles for their money and my goal is to provide some insight as to what to expect from certain shoes. Thanks for sharing!
Great advice. Unsure why so many people need so many trainers. Get them, run and be happy until they are ruined then buy more. Issue is all these people on TH-cam get them for free on occasions so try and push them for the companies as much as possible.
@@phehibs Yes, I did a TH-cam channel for a few years on running shoes for old farts like me.I bought all of them that I reviewed. I did a video once on ,if you compete in races all you really need are your daily trainers and some lighter weight ,more responsive racing shoes. I listed about 5 categories these days that the shoe companies want to sell you 5 or 6 pairs. You know ,one for recovery days , one for up tempo days , one for interval speed training days , one for race day, etc.etc.
Wow what a great run you have had bro…I was in the Indian Army trained in just one pair of thick shoe in which we would do our BPET, 10 miles x country n night matches of 80 km… the responses of my shoes was as good as my minds response. We would keep going in best of timings knowing well that if u don’t do it now, you are coming back again tomorrow 😂… stay fit n keep taking the next step !

I’m finding that shoes are not lasting 400 miles that much anymore. The treads do. But the response and cushion don’t seem to be. I just bought these. Did a 9 mile long run yesterday. Shoes felt cushiony but clunky
Your review and descriptions were exactly similar to my experience. Super annoyed with the tongue sliding but somehow it only happens on my left side. The right side stays in place. Very firm initially but now after 100km, it has soften up. Good for v.fast reps day though. I got the black/lime green colorway, way more attractive than your grey/orange version, can't stand it 😂. Tq for the review.
I am so glad someone else experienced that same issue with the tongue, I knew it couldn't be just me! Thanks for the sharing!
tongue slide kills me - have tried so many lacing options to negate this and can't - very annoying but otherwise great shoe@@racethenation
These are road shoes..as long as im enjoying it i dont care how long it can take😊
Certainly if they feel good, doing what you want them to do, then just keep on rolling!
By the way I am sorry I did not go down half a size.. Very baggy upper at TTS.
I find them to soft for slow runs. Killing my hips..Only shoe that gives me hip pain.. So unstable at slow pace. Very good for Tempo runs but it's heavy for that.. Also collecting huge rocks in the outsole. So big it felt like I got a flat tire.. Had to stop to remove them. Also outsole started to get bold at around 150 miles... Crazy. 😢
Great information! You experienced all of the same issues I had (though I didn't have the hip pain). And I forgot to mention that I also got rocks in the big groove on the sole, so thanks for that!
@@racethenation I had 2 times hip pain. I am 60... First in the Hoka Rocket X. Second time in the New Balance SC Trainer V2.. I probably run a million miles in my life.. 😁
@@i.p2088 It is crazy how the wrong shoe can cause such issues! Here's to running another million miles!
I love these shoes u almost forget u have them on
That's truly the mark of a great shoe! Thanks for the comment!
I just finished putting similar miles in my Hyperion Max and was looking at the Boston 12 before committing to a second pair. I had a great experience in the Max but some days wanted more cushion but worry about snappy shoes and foot strength. I race trails but train my weekday miles on road. Any thoughts?
I am going to assume you don't really want to buy a pure trail shoe (I've never worn one, so couldn't provide any thoughts on that anyways). I can certainly understand that the Max isn't great on trails, it's too flimsy and as you note, not highly cushioned. I recently did a trail ultra and after a couple different shoes, settled on the Hoka Clifton for the trails. Of all the highly cushioned shoes, I felt that provided the most responsiveness while providing a very stable, reliable landing pad (particularly on the trails). Was a shoe that for me, gave my foot a nice break. Hope that helps!
Thanks for the content, looking forward to future videos!
We appreciate it!
I agree on the lack of responsiveness. I sold mine after 150km for $40 to a friend. Bought another pair of the Invincible 2 on 50% sale. I have 2 pairs and really love them over the Nimbus 25. The Invincible is both cushy and responsive. The Nimbus is just cushy but not responsive. Subscribed. Nice video Sir.
Appreciate the info! I haven’t run in the Invincible yet. I will need to give them a go. And thanks for subscribing!
Great review, I can't run in it on slow or long slow runs. It's very soft and unstable at low pace and to heavy for fast runs.. Disappointed.
Thanks so much for sharing! I really thought I was going to like this shoe, but ran into issues, most problematic was that the outer rubber sole wore away before I even reached 100 miles! So spoiler alert, my 300 Mile review will not be complimentary!
Shoes for obese people.
My only problem with the Hyperion Max was the width. It's way too narrow for me, especially in the forefoot.
Ha! That's one of the reasons I liked it, I've got quite narrow feet. But shoe width is one of the most critical parameters for folks, so many thanks for noting that!
Most name Brand shoes lose their bounce after 300- 400 Miles, anyway. Personally, most of the shoes I have purchased have been durable enough to go 500+ miles, but I don't enjoy running in bounce lifeless running shoes. I try to find Trainers on sale and try to preserve my racing shoes! I think most avid Runners will probably go through 2-3 pair of running shoes a year. Getting an extra 50 miles to shoes, I think is pointless for me. Thats like getting an extra 1-2 weeks on running shoes, that I am going to replace for the season.
I couldn't agree more. Once the bounce is gone, they just aren't as fun to run in. I certainly understand anyone trying to squeeze as many miles out of their purchase as possible (the main reason I do these reviews), but believe you are also more apt to get injured running on shoes during miles 300-500 than from 1-300. Thanks for sharing!
