Skydiving AFF and A license progression

Raw sound and footage of my A license progression, including some canopy course landings. Hopefully this can help some future skydivers out there. All jumps done at Skydive Suffolk in Virginia, if you are in the area its a great drop zone and has a great AFF course with some incredible instructors!

great job but close your mouth

Is it still a beer run if you drink it all before getting back to the dz?
Nice work. Stable out of the plane, great altitude awareness, solid progression.
First dive June 8. Can't wait to go again 😅😅😅
I love watching this sport. Don’t have the cash to get my license yet but I can’t wait to go for it. Such a fun video and journey to watch! Blue skies
@@user-it9ke7zu4u haha I wish! 😆 I think I’m a little too far from Russia to make the expenses reasonably affordable than in my home drop zone. But I would love to come visit and make a jump in Russia! Looks like the skies and views are awesome out there too!
We cant jump today but this is the next best thing. Really good video.
I read somewhere that if you fall upside down, just relax and arch and u will automatically rotate the right way, and at 5:56 u did just that, and I got to see that its actually true. Taking aff in two weeks, cant wait!
Yes! Just relax and arch!!
I’ve been an overweight person for the majority of my adult life. However I’m getting my health under control and reaching goals I haven’t been able to meet for years. My goal by late this year or early next year the latest is to be down to between 210-220. When I reach this goal, I want to celebrate with going on my first skydive and would love to get licensed. I’ve been wanting to go skydiving for a very long time but my weight has been an issue. Your video gives me inspiration
That’s an incredible goal! And skydiving is a great motivation! Do you know what drop zone you are going to go to?
Outstanding. I'm learning this summer, be safe. James
Have fun! What DZ are you going to?
Congrats! Welcome to the family!
Tyat was one of the smoothest level 1s I've ever seen! Great job!
Going through AFF was the best moment of my life. I wish I could forget how to skydive and learn it again. Thank you Skys the Limit in East Stroudsburg
😂no way will i ever wish to starall over.. this isn'teasy for me. I'm currently on AFF Level 6... I hope to get through it all😅.. great video
How much did it cost you to get the A license and how long was the whole course for from the first day to getting the license?
Hey! In total I think I spent around 4,000. And for me it took about 3 weeks to get my license but I did it during the winter when we were only open on the weekend! I’ve seen people do it in a week and I’ve seen people do it over a couple months. It’s at your own pace.
@@katiepeachbm 4000 including everything or is it jsut for the course and other stuff like renting and equipment and gears are separate?
@@alviislam4412 that was the total covering everything from the ground school up to getting my license. No extra cost.
@@katiepeachbm Thanks SO MUCH
Troppo troppo bello ❤
Gongrats!!! and thank you so much for sharing XD
Great stuff man. I’m at ~170 jumps in around 7 months. I’m having ton of fun learning (still suck at sit though lol)
Thats how I felt! Still learning at 300 don't think we will ever stop learning! Keep at it and blue skies!
Hi Katie. I started sitting at 30 jumps 25 yrs ago and I was told I should do big way belly first. As I look back now, although I love freefly (and wingsuiting), I understand and feel left out sometimes. Don't miss out on that Big Way Belly experience. mike D-33093
Personal question here but my question is how did you come up with the funds to do 300 jumps in a year cuz that's a lot of money
If you have your own gear, 300 jumps at $28/jump with your own gear is $8,400. Buy a rig and that total is like $15-16k. Good amount of money but, as an example, I'm still driving my '06 Camry that costs less than my rig and wear average clothes because I prioritize my money different. Presume Katie is similar.
@@msvenalso, renting 300 jumps at $25-$30 a rental and $25-$30 a jump on average, is about that $16k mark as well
And that's not factoring in big boogies/ events, where you pay an initial registration fee and jump as much as you can. Some boogies you can get in 20 jumps over a weekend, for $100 registration fee
Honestly cut down on a lot of other stuff I used to pay for until I started working in the industry. Now most of my jumps are work jumps! Just didn't show those on this vid!
@@msven Pretty much! Bought my own rig, started doing work jumps and don't spend money on stuff like clothes and things like that! Honestly would rather buy a van so I don't have to pay rent but thats a future me decision!
🤘🏻🤘🏻
Man, I still remember your first jump (or should I say landing). And this video pops up on my for you page....
We don’t talk about that landing anymore 😂
İlk atlayışlar için harika destek, iyi atlayışlar. ❤🪂🇹🇷👏🙌
1,000 jumps in 18 mo. God bless you. 700 skyboard jump included in those jumps. #@" - 70" by 12" wide
Unreal! That’s an accomplishment!
Are you still jumping@@katiepeachbm
Great accomplishment, congrats! This video is such an inspiration. I will do AFF in April next year. So looking forward to it!
That’s awesome! You’re going to love it!
Very nice! I just started with a static line course and I'll be so happy to reach this level of progression.
Thats awesome! Where are you at with it now?
@katiebishop-manning8934 my next jump will be one more 360 then barrel rolls and loops. Unfortunately I live in northeast Nebraska so the weather isn't allowing many days there so I might not be able to keep my 30 day currency. Even though the drop zone is 2.5 hours away I still go every time I have a chance to jump. Made the trip yesterday but the fog and overcast never broke for the 2 hours they were calling for.
Alright! And thats a bummer but keep with it! I did mine in the winter too so I get the pain!@@Pokitchange86
@@katiepeachbm I'm definitely going to keep with it. I've never been so obsessed with anything in my life. How many jumps are you at now?
is this in Suffolk county long island
Suffolk, VA!
Dang u were super stable by you 6th jump. Did u do any tunnel time?
My first time in the tunnel was around jump 30 so not before AFF
🙌❤
What size was your parachute
I started on a 240 and about halfway through student status went down to a 220. Ended up on a 190 after getting my license.
You were brave on downgrading
Great job on all of those jumps! Your landings are impressive for a fresh A license!
Thank you!
ingat mga sir😢😢
How much all that cost?
@paulmulks I've got 18 jumps so far towards my A license, need 25 total. So far it's been just about $3k, jumps get cheaper once you graduate AFF.
You are awesome! That was truly inspiring. I loved your tracking in those later "G" jumps, and you were just sticking those landings. Very cool!🙂
This was so fun to watch:)) Great job! And a diving exit getting to an 8way at 26 jumps?! That’s freakin impressive😎🪂
That's my mom.
😂😂😂😂
I really hope I can make my dream come true one day, and be up there solo among others, I lost a piece of my soul up there and I'm coming to find it! Awesome video!!
Unbelievable. Well done. How long take you to finish all of these?
At least 2 full hours with no bathroom breaks. It's pretty tough.
@@BurninatorTheTrogdor I'm wondering how many days the AFF course or A license takes. I'm from Vietnam, so I need to determine the duration required to complete this course. This information is essential for visa arrangements and booking accommodations.
It took me around three weeks only going Saturday and Sunday!
@hiepnh610 sorry I was joking obviously. If you find a DZ with a lot of instructors and aren't super busy, you can breeze through in a week. Weather is also an issue. I would plan a couple weeks and ask the dz before you book.
Awesome work!!!!!
WOW! G-1 learning to move in the air. That was so cool! 😎
yeahhhhhhhhhhhhhh
Well done Katie! Can’t wait to finish mine after school wraps up
Awesome job
Thank you!

Great progress Katie, You made it look easy lol, thanks for sharing #BlueSkies
Thank you!
thank you for sharing, you made a nice progression. the 8way was kinda scary but well managed ✌
So cool your instructor/coach fruity looped you on the check dive!!
Have you had any rough landings? I’ve done 3 jumps. First and third I flared too soon. Really messed my ankle up on the first one. Doing my fourth Sunday and I’m a bit nervous.
I actually fractured my tailbone on my first jump from flaring too soon! That made me stand up my landing on my third jump because I did not want to land like that again! Hope your jump on Sunday went well!
@@katiepeachbm it went much better thank you! When I did the second jump they didn’t have any 280 parachutes available. They gave me a 260. And even though that was the scariest jump (me and the two instructors started spinning-one instructor let go and put us into a hardcore spin in all directions. Then I lost that one. Protocol is pull immediately. I did but I was spinning. My lines tangled. I really thought this is how I die. But I got them untangled!). They gave me a 260 for that one. I felt so in control of that one. I slid in on my butt bcuz my ankle still hurt and I didn’t want them to know I was wearing a brace. But I slid on so smooth. From here on out I’m using the 260. Still scared though! It’ll be awhile before that goes away!
On my cat B jump, I got fixated on waiting for the instructor to tell me to flare on the radio, and I never heard it, so I ended up not flaring. I landed HARD on my butt and it caused a minor compression fracture in my L2 vertebrae. Watching this video to deal with the sky diving withdrawals while i wait to go back out after 6 weeks of healing lol @@jwprimetime9795
The same here 😂 i landed on concrete and hit my knee but I leaned from that
@@yousefn3640 it’s been a long road but I’m finally jumping solo. My landings still could be better.
Awesome ! It's so cool that usa lot can wear a full face helmet straight away.
after AFF jumps we can wear it for the rest of our A license jumps!
That looks awesome.
super))))!!!!!!!!!!!!
