Wild Farm Life
เข้าร่วมเมื่อ 22 พ.ย. 2023
We are small time operators in Northeast Iowa who love to farm with International Harvester and Farmall tractors. We take time to give you a glimpse into our daily life whether we are in the field, working on equipment, cutting wood, or working cattle.
Finishing Planting 2024 IH Equipment
I start with spreading some fertilizer with our IH 666 to prepare for plowing after letting our cattle out to pasture the week before. Next I follow up with the IH 1466 and 710 plow. Finally I plant seed corn with the IH 966 and 900 Cyclo before finishing up the night with planting a plot of sweet corn.
We don’t show the correct order in the video, my wife didn’t realize until after it was posted. We hope you still enjoy!

Chore Time with a Farmall H and a Surprise
มุมมอง 1664 หลายเดือนก่อน
We had a surprise delivery this week on the farm. One of our heifers decided that the warm streak was a good time to surprise us with a calf. Follow along as we walk her up to the chute where she would eventually deliver after we pulled her calf. Unfortunately the outcome wasn’t a good one as we lost the calf before she was born and the heifer a couple days later. We are reflecting on how we co...

Feeding Cattle in Snow with IH 656
มุมมอง 1K4 หลายเดือนก่อน
The IH 656 struggles to bust a couple of drifts on the way up to feed the cattle on the hilltop. The chains on the tires help but we did need to get a little help from the side by side to break up the drifts. We are feeding a Haylage/Silage Mix. Come along for the ride!
Weaning Calves and Working Cattle
มุมมอง 2995 หลายเดือนก่อน
We are finally weaning the spring calves from their mothers in January. We normally complete this process a couple weeks earlier. The process includes feeding the herd closer to the area where we need them to congregate for moving them to the cattle yard and pasture up the road for several weeks. Finally we made the move with the help of our family. The process involves leading them through the...
First Wood Haul of the Year
มุมมอง 1865 หลายเดือนก่อน
We started out the year cutting up and splitting a Red Elm for our wood burner. It was a rather quick haul we did over the course of two days. The first day I went and cut the log up into manageable chunks to load onto our splitter. The next day I brought my wife back in our 1971 Ford truck and pulled my Oregon 3000 splitter behind. It took us about an hour to split the log just before dark. Al...

What are you using for starter?
It’s a liquid starter with a 2x2 setup.
China fibs on the cc of their saws. They are smaller than advertised
Cool tractors and nice job on the video! The grain drill has small hoppers at furrow (row) is that for fertilizer or a smaller seed hopper, and are the liquid tanks for dust control or fertilizer or something else?
The smaller hoppers are for alfalfa and the liquid tanks are for fertilizer. Thanks for watching!
@@WildFarmLife Thanks for the reply!
Gotta love that 66 w/ cab pulling a 5 bottom like it's crusin down the ave.
Yep, it ain’t no big job for the right tractor. 👍
Nice video
Thank you and thanks for watching!
Thank you, for the closed caption availability. All the years of listening to the tractor and machine noise have made our hearing impaired, so I really appreciate the closed caption option. Skip, Western PA
Nice setup!
I think so too! Thanks for watching!
Nice video, love IH machines
Thanks for watching! Glad you enjoyed it. We sure do love our IH machines.
Why You are not using hearing protection?
I do have a helmet with face/eye/ear protection but I’m not always good about having it along with me when I’m driving around the farm. Had I been going to cut a large amount I would have had it along. People should ALWAYS have protection when cutting.
I own similar "Chinese" chainsaws. The chains that come with them are crap. I changed to chains made by Oregon and stihl and the saws work and cut wonderfully.
Nice video, I love IH tractors.
What was that green thing going down the road??? Just something to ruin your day! We never had a farmall H but we did have a couple C,S farmall M , 574, 656 diesel and gas and an 826 and a newer 2014 McCormick hundred horsepower as long as it was red. Skip Western PA .
Ha! They are always messing up the landscape. Sounds like you had a pretty nice fleet. Thanks for watching.
There are a number of items that I would like to see, most importantly closed captioning, as we farmers get older our hearing gets impaired, some other people don't want you talking, personally tell me everything about your situation. In one of your first videos you had a I H 1466 tractor pulling a chopper with beautiful scenery, please tell us where the scenery is! You must have cattle because you're filling a silo is it beef or dairy and how many? Skip Western PA
Thanks Skip for all the input. We will need to put captioning on the videos for easier viewing. We are located in the far northeastern corner of Iowa, not far from the Mississippi River. We do have beef cattle, usually around 100 head total between the feed lot and the pasture. Thanks again for watching!
Your videos would be more interesting if we saw more of the attractive lady and the dogs.
I love the smooth sound of that 560D. Had one that was our workhorse until the 806 came out. Thanks for the "real life" video!
There is something about it! Thanks for watching.
I grew up on 560 diesel ran ours for 50 years and it was the most fuel efficient tractor ever made..put the 234 picker on and picked corn until we got to much snow..in Wisconsin you never knew when it was coming but it always did..love your county sir
They sure are a good tractor. Thanks for watching and for sharing a little of your own story.
this is a real farm video of a true farmer working.. i only like bigtractorpower cause he talk while he show tractors in action
Glad you enjoy it. We also really appreciate your feedback. Thanks for watching.
honestlly i don;t care much about the person.. i come to watch the tractors at work. i hate video where some people show their faces and talk and I mean talk..
i like his video cause he is actually work instead of all that talking
Do you own anything that's not red ! Lol IH is all right I noticed truck even t shirt red I hope you have a IH watch I am sure you must have one lol all good it just amazes me how so farmers are Red green or which ever it's interesting
You got it! We just so happen to love our red, not a hint of green on the farm besides maybe a Badger wagon. 😂
Really enjoyed this video, thanks for posting it. Looks like the deer enjoyed the feast you provided for them all winter! Beautiful country around there! I love the twisty little back roads! Where abouts are you located?
Thanks for watching. Glad you enjoyed it. We are located in Northeast Iowa.
Starting mine: Switch OFF and pull two times. Make sure gas and choke are on. Then turn switch ON and pull till it starts. Once it starts turn choke off or mine will stall. Move throttle about half way to warm up. Haven't found a log yet it wouldn't split. Wish the wedge was 12" instead of 8. It's a Koehler .
What did your corn make per bushel
This year was a dry year and made about 100-110 bushel per acre.
Ill claim subscriber #208 just because of the black stripe 66.
Thanks for the subscribe! The black stripe 66 just keeps on giving. 😄
That is some really pretty landscape to farm in
Thank you @joakrage3972 we do have some pretty landscape! Thanks for watching.
We sold straw bales to our nearest municipality for years to put on the ski hill. They would get 100 bales and send 3 pickups + 3 single axle dump trucks and 12 guys. Most years they needed all the trucks to haul the straw. After the city hired a former farm hand we didn't need 1/2 of the vehicles or help. We were an all hay dairies and beside the 2 milking barns (most hay dropped, only stack at the end) we stacked hay in 3 smaller barns + the heifer barn. The 3 barns were pretty much emptied before winter got bad (2 pickups + a dump wagon transported the hay ). Our dairy barn mow was 25' from the mow elevator to the floor( could stand on mow elevator and still not reach the hay tack in the peak). Don't miss them long summers.
beautiful looking hay , just perfect colour , cattle will love that , and the right kit to deal with it , the IH RED
Why thank you! Glad you are enjoying the channel.
what a tune , fantastic
We love the classics!
Hay Years ago, Brother's me,many, many times, Thank you. 👍(N.Graber, Ind. )
Thanks for watching! Sounds like you know the work involved. 😀
That is a lot of hay. Is he walking on a layer of hay? We've been across that bridge on one of our many Sunday drives.
Yes it is a lot of hay, he is walking on 1-2 layers I believe.
Is alive that Best truck!!! I'm take me heavyweight license in one in Puerto Rico !!!! Enjoy the 🛣️ roads
Thank you! Hope you enjoy too! 😃
its so funny when they take a shower with the food from the mixer wagon. thanks for the other info like weighing gas vs diesel
Haha! Yes, they do seem to enjoy it. Thanks for watching and letting us know how it was helpful.
Very informative.
Glad it was helpful. 😊 Thanks for watching!
That was pretty cool to watch the cows walk right down the road.
Yes, the were pretty well behaved this time around. With the exception of a couple rebellious calves. 😂
I never missed one video of yours, the food you made for your family looks very delicious and healthy, you are blessed to have an extraordinary talent, thanks for sharing your life with us
Thank you so much for watching. 😊
I always thought they needed two batteries
I didn't know Iowa was so hilly,I'm from Georgia.
Yes, it’s much hillier up here in the driftless area than it is in most parts of Iowa.
It'll be alright. Getting an older one going is a site cheaper and better than trying to pay off a new one and a LOT simpler. And after you get it going you can keep it going on a regular basis.
That’s the way we roll around here.
Cheaper and better too.@@WildFarmLife
great machine, I owned a 1460 for 15 years and loved it, easy to operate and easy to work on, 2 years ago I traded it for a used 2388, after 2 years im still reaching down with my left hand to engage the discharge auger, now its just a button on the stick
Nice upgrade! And that I can believe that about the unloading auger.
What trans fluid are you using?
I’m not sure. It came all set up to run.
Topped mine off with Mag1 Universal Hydraulic Oil Premium UTF. Still working after 50 cords of wood split over 3 months.
Gorgeous 1466
Why thank you!
It looks dry!
Someone should make a video on how many companies put their name on that same splitter. Mines a County Line from TS. 😆
You probably make more money per acre than the people driving that new crap does
I can’t speak for them but it could be true!
I'm pretty sure it is true.... Good for you enjoy!!!
Beautiful to see old equipment still working
Stay tuned because that’s all we use. 😉
