Any details about the musician? Very good recording from Rupavahini. Must be from 90s.

Thanks for unearthing these gems from Jaffna which went through a destructive civil war. We lost everything only our shell of our house remaining today. My father had many recordings from Maviddapuram Kandasamy temple Katcheris on reel to reel tapes.

Wow, that Thavil Nadai is classic Thedchinamurthi, you don't hear from any Thavil artists current or older.

Surprised to hear this recording from 1965 without any wow and flutter and bleed through. Tape recorders are very rare those days. Most of them are Philips valve monophonic models. Even rarer is stereophonic recording models. Amplifier is certainly Vortexion CP20 a model that can operate from car battery or mains and the loud speaker would have been Grampian horn speaker hung up on a coconut or Palmyra tree. Also the microphone would have been a Grampian, these are the staple equipment commonly used those days.

One of my relative hired a van and if I remember correct 10 music lovers attended this kutcheri 😅
