United States
เข้าร่วมเมื่อ 21 ม.ค. 2020
Three trailblazing Asian American women in TV journalism and Hollywood join forces to rattle some cages and dismantle tired old stereotypes about race, age, sex and culture. Award-winning journalist May Lee and actresses Kelly Hu and Tamlyn Tomita (a.k.a. MKT) take on topics that aren't often discussed in the most open, authentic and, sometimes, hilarious way because they are unafraid to be fully themselves. They're all 50+ and fabulous so they got nothing to hide and they are beyond the point of caring about what other people think! So take your Shoes Off Inside and join MKT to engage, contribute, challenge and, most importantly, have fun! Lots and lots of FUN!

EP 28 LA Burning and How to Help
This episode of "Shoes Off Inside" was originally supposed to be about how to mentally prepare for the new year ahead with the help of our guest psychologist Dr. Jenny Wang. But then, the cataclysmic LA wildfires hit and we knew we had to pivot. The destruction to homes, businesses and entire neighborhoods is so immense, it's difficult to truly understand the scale of loss. As of the date of this episode, more than 180,000 people have been displaced by the fires. More than 10,000 structures are damaged or destroyed. 11 human lives have been lost. Animals, both domestic and wild, have also been dramatically impacted. May, Kelly and Tamlyn speak with Dr. Wang about how we can all help each other through this unprecedented disaster and what each one of us can do to make a difference even in the smallest of ways. This was a way for us to share a space of comfort, compassion, sympathy and empathy.
Thank to all the incredible first responders who are courageously putting themselves in harm's way to save others.
At the end of the episode there is information about ways you can help.

EP 26 Childless Women IN PERSON!!!
มุมมอง 7873 หลายเดือนก่อน
Do you believe in miracles??? After 2 years of hosting "Shoes Off Inside" virtually, May, Kelly and Tamlyn FINALLY recorded an episode IN PERSON and they made sure to get into some GOOD TROUBLE! Sitting on the floor in May's living room eating musubi, mochi donuts and drinking boricha, the outspoken threesome tackled the subject of Childless Women, who have recently come under attack in this el...
EP 25 Frivolity to Fear
มุมมอง 3223 หลายเดือนก่อน
The threesome is down to two for this episode because SOMEONE forgot about our recording date and overslept! LOL! But as the saying goes, “The show must go on!” So May and Kelly chat up a storm from the frivolous to the very serious. From French wine, cheese and fashion to the disinformation enveloping the hurricanes that are devastating Florida and beyond. Tamlyn was sorely missed, but the lad...
EP 24 Back in ACTION and moving FORWARD!
มุมมอง 6835 หลายเดือนก่อน
The ladies of "Shoes Off Inside" took a little time off for summer...a combination of globe-hopping, caretaking and gearing up for the country's most consequential elections in modern history. This is an episode that is full of surprises, insight, admissions and TMI (hint...the squatty potty is a topic). But May, Kelly and Tamlyn get down to serious business with a heartfelt and informative con...

Well that's exactly what Shari Leid, former attorney turned life coach, did and she lived to tell the many tales. Month of May is when the spotlight burns brighter on the AANHPI community! All month long we celebrate the diversity of Asian American Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islanders and that means honoring everyone from the most prominent political and media figures to the unsung heroes who are tirelessly working to elevate our voices. EP 21 Words Matter or Do They?
มุมมอง 1.2K9 หลายเดือนก่อน
At the heart of this episode is the hotly debated issue of the "coddled" generation. These are Gen Z'ers and, now, Gen Alpha who have been overprotected by parents from the real world with all of it's challenges, pain, and dangers. But ironcially, these same kids have been severely underprotected from social media. According to psychologist and NYU professor, Jonathan Haidt, this combination ha...

Ep 18 Multigenerational Living and Senior Scams!
มุมมอง 669ปีที่แล้ว
The numbers don't lie...the senior population is booming while the younger generation is shrinking due to fewer and fewer people having children. That means there is a growing need for caregiving within families, which is leading to more multigenerational households. That's nothing new for Asian families, but we're seeing this trend of multigenerational living increase across all communities an...
EP 17 Tribute to Eggy the rescue dog
มุมมอง 830ปีที่แล้ว
For many of you who have been watching and listening to this show, you've gotten to know May's Golden Retriever, Eggy, pretty well. She would often make cameo appearances during the show knowing exactly where the camera was. Eggy's story, like many rescue dogs, is amazingly touching and inspiring. On October 14 2023, Eggy crossed the rainbow bridge after nearly 16 years. May wanted to take a fe...

EP 14 Broadway's Desperate Need for Color
มุมมอง 400ปีที่แล้ว
New York's Broadway has been referred to as the Great White Way since the early 1900s because of the spectacle of bright lights and dazzling theatre marquees. Broadway is one of the final frontiers when it comes to more diverse repr...

Great episode with lots of info and strategies to deal with the enormity of this disaster. This reminds me of the 1991 Oakland hills firestorm but 10x worse. Living near there I learned how long recovery can take but recovery WILL happen.
Thank you for watching and for your support!
The fires in Los Angeles is so heartbreaking. Thanks for talking about it. I live in Minnesota and wish I could send a ton of cold wet snow.
Thank you for watching. Wish we could get some of your snow!
Such a helpful and deeply resonant episode. Thank you to all of you. ❤🙌🏽

I feel like I’m late to the party, but watching three accomplished, intelligent women having a conversation and injecting personal experiences and feelings is so refreshing. This was truly time well spent. Brava ladies!!
Great episode and great seeing you all together! Wear your hair whatever the hell the way you want! Any guy who would say anything negative about your hair color were either born in this century or their mind is stranded two centuries back...
My purpose is to plant reishi mushrooms in the garden of eden cuz i know God can be forgetful. 🍄🍄🍄🥰🥰🥰🍄🍄🍄
I’ll leave this Greg Proops quote here. “If Men got pregnant there would be a clinic on every corner and you would be in and out in 10 minutes like Jiffy Lube.”
I thoroughly enjoyed this. It never occurred to me that you weren’t in the same room before. I’m a boomer, but I resonated with everything you said. Thank you for this fun & interesting discussion.
Great Episode 🙂 🎉
Great to see you all together!
Kelly i love your grey hair don’t listen to anybody. You do what you want it’s YOUR hair ! ❤
Yay!! Love seeing all 3 of you together!! My hubby and I were parents of fur babies only (our fur baby crossed over to rainbow bridge April 2023 😢), but by choice no human baby too. Loved listening/watching you all discuss this. 59 years now…and do not regret it. For me personally I feel like I’m a child at heart which means I feel like I can’t really raise a child and be an “adult” with them, if you know what I mean and plus, I (this is silly), but I also have fears of leaving a child on top of car and driving away…its just way too many reasons. Also, I somehow never had that maternal instinct. Like when people see babies, they go “Awwwhhh so cute” and asking the mother their age and blah blah blah…for me…I get that way when I see Puppies and Doggies!!! 😂😂😂😂🤣🤣🤣🤣. Oh! And also my paranoid brain will also think like what if my kid takes away all my money when they get older or what if they turn out to be a bad kid(you can’t control that sometimes). So yeh, many reasons why no kids here. Again, thank you for sharing this great video/podcast. 🥰😀 (Yep…I am commenting as I watch)…I’m Asian too, and my mom used to want Grand kids and always telling me…oh so and so daughter just had a baby and so on…thank goodness my brother gave them 3 grand children!
Kelly , you don’t have to dye your hair .. you look very sexy and beautiful the way you are you don’t have to change anything..! And to be honest all three of you are very attractive..!
Haha I love how Kelly is always saying “women.. AND MEN!”
OMG!!! You are all together in one place at the same time.😁
41:58 I've been physically and emotionally abused by women, as a child, teen, and adult. It has left alot of emotional scars on me as well, and some tearful nights.
Weather modification is real. Countries such as US, Canada and China have admitted to it. The United Nations also passed a treaty back in 1978 (Environmental Modification Convention) to prevent countries from using weather modifications in warfare.
Please keep up the good work, both of you. I discovered your channel today. Also thank you Kelly HU, on your Unity campaign. I've been abused by racism people many times here in NYC. Its interesting because when I was a kid growing up in the 90's and a teenager in the early 2000's, two people inspired me in art. Bob Ross, and the Asian Community. lso, the problem with our food supply here in the US, is because of GMO's (Genetic Modified Organisms), which are linked to cancer. ASincerely/Love, Terrell
I just discovered this channel, and I am going to give a subscribe. I am saying good afternoon/evening to all of you, from my home of NYC. Sincerely/Love, Terrell
May lee is a MASTER at excluding Indian south asian women and south asian women .Her ethnophoia ,racial prejudice is pretty evident .India south asian women and black women can go toe to toe with ANY one .COPE.

Great Show 💯 / Great Episode 💯 / Very Enjoyable 🙂 🎉
Very good interview 🎉🎉🎉
I always love it when your video pop up on my feed!! Makes me happy listening and watching you.
Great podcast as always. The political discussion was fascinating. I had a question for Tamlyn on one of the things she said. She mentioned that “change is slow” and “change takes time” in regards to Democrats moving the country forward. I have an in-law who is a union negotiator and political activist and he said almost exactly the same words: “change takes time” when discussing Democratic policies with him. I’m guessing this must be an official message from the party at this point. Is this really considered a winning strategy for the Democratic Party? Biden ran on several intriguing policies in 2020 including a public option for the ACA and global student debt relief and on the former nothing further was said after the election and on the latter there have been breadcrumbs thrown out to some borrowers around the edges but nothing approaching the global relief which was confidently promised and is desperately needed by millions of borrowers who did what they were told and got a degree and are getting absolutely pummeled by this economy now. In 2008 Obama ran on “codifying Roe as my first act as President,” and he had the congress to do it in 2009, but then he pivoted and abandoned his plan and set the stage for its overturn a decade later. How long are we all going to have to wait for real positive change? 10 years, 20 years, three generations? At some point you have to deliver on your promises and not take endless support for granted. Beating Trump should be a slam dunk this time because he’s a known quantity at this point. But this election at best is extremely close. Why? I think there’s a lot of disgruntlement and disappointment and voters, especially older voters who have seen this for awhile, are growing tired of the “change takes time” and “just you wait” strategy. A lot of Harris voters that the Democrats desperately need to show up might just stay home because of this long earned disillusionment. Successful politics is about deliverables. FDR knew that, LBJ knew that, hell even Reagan know that as bad as some of those deliverables were. Why can’t the Democrats offer a concrete list of deliverables and pledge to enact them instead of the endless “just wait” meme?
Very entertaining show, ladies! Love hearing about Kelly and May's recent travels. As a big k drama fan, I enjoyed the discussion of Korea and the Hallyu phenomenon. Tamlyn's political discourses are appreciated. All of you discussing the historic nomination of Kamala is elucidating. And I learned about "squat toilets"! Look forward to Kelly's posts from Burning Man!
Thank you for this heartwarming conversation ❤️
Why you call it shoes off inside ?
Can't wait for Joy Luck Club II.
Asians should be worried as everyone on the threat to democracy not on if we can’t get a driver’s license. How about a party that doesn’t even count your vote and ousts their incumbent President so that the oligarchs can pick their candidate without a single vote or elector. So your vote does not even count. That’s the threat to democracy right there. Ballot Access and mail in voting is not a factor if your actual vote will never be counted. Maga 2024 people!!!
You ladies should get Uncle Roger on here! LOL! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
The ASIAN VIEW!

Oh my gosh I love you Ladies! I'm so excited to have found your YT channel! I really enjoyed the interview, great conversation. I'll be sure to follow Shari Leid on the socials. Hey, nice frames, May. 👍
100% getting worryingly worse. Social media is the accelerant... We must find common ground.
Fun, witty, perceptive, thank you, MKT and Ms. Leid!
Important Discussion. In his 2017 Instagram apology, Choe pretty much fesses up to the misogynistic bro-culture that MK&T describe, saying “How does one apologize for a lifetime of doing wrong? Through my past three years of recovery and rehabilitation, I’ve attempted to answer that question through action and understanding. In my life I’ve struggled deeply with an unnatural amount of hatred I’ve had towards myself. Most of my life I’ve been a scared hurt shame filled person, trying to mask my insecurities with false confidence and an outwardly negative behavior to validate myself as worthy.... I am truly sorry for the negative words and dark messages I had put out into the world.”

Any news?
Great podcast as always! Happy AANHPI Heritage month! You know an interesting topic for discussion might be the evolution of the acronym that celebrates Asian American heritage. I’m old enough to remember when it was referred to as “AA”. AANHPI is the latest version and it’s great to see how the acronym has accreted all of the individual communities. Sort of like the ancient Schoolhouse Rock term “The Great American Melting Pot” evolving into “The Great American Salad Bowl” if you remember that…
Thank you for watching and the show idea! Love hearing from our listeners and viewers!!
Hi. Zaire Haylock here. Happy Asian American Pacific Heritage Month. ❤
