Great video and thank you, the "pretty buildings" you mentioned at 8:56 are where I grew up, they're around 300 years old and have incredibly low ceilings and massive oak beams to smash your head on. Unlike my old school friends house at 12:50, you need a cherry picker just to clean the chandelier in that place... lol!

Cherhill is pronounced cherril . The horse is made with chalk. And thank you, you walked very near to my son’s old house. We lived just up the hill from there. Where you walked down to the stream, we called that bit Piggy hill! The house with the thatch looks old but was built I think about 2000. I am glad to see they have paved the walk along the river, it used to be very muddy. You arrived at the Green from the south. So many new houses.

The Castlefields Canal is one of my favorit Place! Sorry, you dont visit!

Wow, amazing to see Calne again. I grew up here over forty years ago, fond memories of playing down near the river catching Cray fish. We lived behind the old church , I think on Silver street. Love to go back again some day to see how it’s changed 👏🏽

Alice is perfectly right about re opening the pedestrianised area for cars. The congestion in Calne can be ridiculous and it's madness that what used to be the road isn't being utilised to solve, or at least ease, the problem.

I have ancestors who lived there in the 17th century. Their surname was Cloud or Cloude. I believe they also lived in a place nearby called Southbroom.

I grew up in calne for 17 years. A crap whole with a load of munters and wrongers , no shops cant even by a ps game there , its either snobs or poor people and trust me poor people dont get treated right there. Jbs secondary or known now as () whatver it is. Stabbings, beatings , teachers shagging students. Bus stops getting moded down from people who cant drive. Hit n runs OUTSIDE my house. Snobby and poor live here. I was poor. Pedos living opposite. Dont knock on his door he been released from prison. Dont walk through JBS woods a girl got rap** there. Not a good place at all. Thats why i moved to melksham. AND BTW THAT CHURCH YOUR IN THAT YOUR WOMAN IS WALKING TOWARDS THE STAIRS my mates dad had to much to drink fell down then awkward stairs caved his head in a died at the bottom. Thought id add that.

on the evidence of this video it doesn't seem that beautiful, not much planting/street trees but loads of ugly bitmac, other than the immediate church and river sections that is - not enough to entice a visit.

the place is bludgeoned by traffic - i made a note never to return after my last visit. I admit that I went on Sunday and the weather was poor but nevertheless it seemed dire.

Lived in Melksham and now Bowerhill all my married life apart from 8 years in Turkey. Wouldn`t live anywhere else nowadays.

I take my 'light" walking boots with me when I visit PB. I walk from the Rubicon to the lighthouse and back in a couple of hours. Lovely walk...but take plenty of water with you :-)
