If you’re new here, I'm Soriyen, the founder of SecureSync AI-a B2B tech firm that helps life insurance agencies automate their sales and scale faster using AI. But that’s just one side of my story.
Unlike other entrepreneurs who only aim to build a business, I’m using it as the launchpad to build something far greater: a global creative empire. I’m documenting this journey step-by-step, starting with my business in a “boring” industry to fund my bigger vision of becoming a world-renowned musician, filmmaker, and cultural entrepreneur.
My ultimate mission? To drive large-scale economic growth in my parents' homeland, Cambodia-using art and media to shift perceptions and create global visibility. And you better believe I’ll reinvest the money I make to launch more businesses that amplify this impact.
How I got here...
2003: born as Ethan Khou in Southern California to 2 parents from Phnom Penh, Cambodia.
16 yrs old: Started thrifting clothes to sell online. Made $237 in 1 month and bragged to all my friends about it.
16.5 yrs old: Spent all the money made from selling clothes on a $1,500 drop shipping course. Tried to start a Shopify store selling rugs. Failed.
17 yrs old: Tried hiring a book ghostwriter through Upwork to write self-help eBooks to publish on Amazon. Failed cuz they wrote a shitty book.
17.25 yrs old: Started getting into high fashion. Learned to draw fashion illustrations in 2 weeks and submitted drawings to FIDM in Los Angeles and won $50K+ in scholarships. Didn't go after realizing FIDM sucks.
17.5 yrs old: Tried starting a print on demand store selling cute piggy merch. Failed cuz I hired a random lady on Fiverr that sucked at graphic design + I didn't know how to run Facebook ads.
18 yrs old: Accepted to the Fashion Institute of Technology in Manhattan, NYC for men's fashion design.
19 yrs old: Decided to start using my Cambodian name, Soriyen, after my 2nd time visiting Cambodia and realizing my true purpose in life.
20 yrs old: Earned my associate's at FIT but decided to quit after realizing high fashion is one giant marketing campaign and not a business that makes (real) money unless you're part of the LVMH portfolio + I refuse to design clothes for mass market brands like Ralph Lauren.
20.5 yrs old: Joined a life insurance MLM hoping to get rich. Switched to a traditional life insurance agency that actually paid good commission rates. Clients canceled policies and now I owe insurance companies $4K.
21 yrs old:
Quit life insurance and had no idea what the fuck I was gonna do.
Spent 3 weeks in my NYC apartment rotting in bed and watching videos of what the next best business model was.
Learned about Voice AI, paid 2 kids younger than me $8,000, and dove headfirst into the industry. Learned all about AI, automations, CRMs, sales processes, marketing funnels, etc.
Launched a Voice AI business. Failed because I was too focused on selling the plane flight, not the vacation, among other mistakes.
Now: Running a tech solutions firm specializing in helping only life insurance agencies, with a much more strategic approach to scaling clients and growing my business. Starting to document my entire journey so that you can see every aspect, unpolished and in your face.
Future Goals (cuz I'm crazy like that)
23 yrs old: generate $10M+ in premium volume (kinda like revenue but not really for non-insurance folks) for my clients
25 yrs old: be the top solutions firm for AI and automations in the life insurance industry.
28-30 yrs old: achieve a liquid net worth of $10M+ (from focusing on 1 business and doing it better than anyone else)
30 yrs old: be fluent in 3-4 languages (in the process of learning my 2nd language right now)
30-50 yrs old:
Leverage my net worth, skillset, and expertise to start a music, media, & education company in East/Southeast Asia.
Use the attention from media to launch global product & experience-based businesses.
Drive real economic growth in Cambodia and teach the next generation of entrepreneurs to take over the fucking world.
50-99 yrs old: I don't fucking know yet
100 yrs old: Die with $0 in the bank and not a single regret in my life.
