Howdy folks. We are Bryan and Andrea, and we run Amuck. We are designers and makers. We are metal smiths, and travelers. We love doing things nobody would expect us to do, and we're gonna take you along for the ride. There will be videos from the metals studio, videos about whittling, travel, tools we use, maybe even some how-to videos, and videos about things we haven't even thought of yet.

Great taste in music!
Thank you!
Love your found objects work. Glad to see you're still making videos. Wishing you a fantastic and creative 2025!
What is the pen tool called that you used to punch the holes?
@@linewife9046 it’s a center punch and gives me a little divot in the metal so that when I drill the hole the bit doesn’t skip across the metal.
If you think this isn’t whittling or talent, you are wrong. I am a whittler and you really have to be smart using your best tools and those are your hands. This young man is saving his hands to whittle another day by using all the help he has available with tools, other than a knife. Well done. ✌🏻🤍🤞🏽
Thank you. I really appreciate your comment.
Such a fun design!!🎉
So COOL!!!!
Nice! What number saw blade/ thickness of sheet metal? I'm a newbie
@@mixedmediaartgirl300 hi, thank you!! When I’m doing multiple layers I usually use a 24 gauge metal and 1/0 or 2/0 blade.
@amuckdesign very much appreciated! I have only ordered silver/ bezel wire/ blades a few times and using visual references for work I like, coupled with the rare artist's input like this, helps me tremendously! 💖💖 Just found your channel today but I adore your style!
@@mixedmediaartgirl300 feel free to ask anything, if I have an answer I’m happy to share.😄
Thank you! I've been struggling with this concept. I'm putting a bezel around a piece of abalone shell (that is curved) and mount it to the front of a petrified shark's tooth cap (the front of the cap is curved also). This has given me some hope of getting this right and able to solder together. Thanks so much!
@@JohnDoe2.01 oh gosh double curves to deal with! Good luck on your project, you’ll get it I’m sure.👍
Looks great! What type of chain do you use for stringing. Thank you.
@@ArtsCraftsJoe hi! I use the sterling beading chain from RioGrande.
Oh, that would be terrific. WOW. Thank you so much.
wish you showed your solder technique I'm having a very difficult time soldering the bezel. TY.
@@billyddenottia6250 I’d be happy to film this again and include the soldering. I just got a new camera so I can film more close up so this would be a perfect project to re film. Thank you for your comment.
Could you give us the specifics on the size of the cord you are using and the size and gauge of the tubing please? Is it heavy walled tubing?? Love the tutorial but need the specs.
@@maurschmidtz the cords I used in this video were an 8mm and a 5.5mm diameter. You would then need tubing whose inside diameter was close to this. Heavy or thin walled tubing is purely your choice as to what weight you’d like your tips to be.
Amazing!
Wat is that bowl and rocks apparatus called that you used to solder???
@@TheInfraredzone it’s called an annealing pan with pumice.
2:24 hey question, what tools are being used for this part?
@@12Marxzero34 it’s a disc cutter that I bought at Harbor Freight.
Thanks! I’ve been accumulating gear for metal smithing. It started with me just watching videos of guys melting cans and pouring bars. Now, a couple days ago, I just dropped around $1k on a high end roller mill. It’s always a conundrum to know if I should spend on the high priced items and be assured I’m getting quality or buying the cheap Chinese knockoff that often can accomplish the job (provided you can assemble it with no instructions) but can also be totally dysfunctional garbage. Having experienced smiths share tool recommendations can be very helpful, provided they aren’t paid promotions for Chinese trash.
@@darrenstettner5381 ooh congrats on the rolling mill! That is definitely an item to go high quality on, you won’t regret that.
Your video help me thanks
Love the tool tips. I wonder if I could use the pin vice as a type of holder for lock pick tips, he use it for like a daily driver where I could swap My tips if needed
@@CloudTheGreat99 you might be able to do that, it would be a nice handle for lock picks.
Enjoyed going on the shopping trip with you.
@@Nancy4133nope thank you. I’m still carrying around my tiny bits I bought in my purse😆 should pull those out today and see what they will turn into.
@@amuckdesign love it we all have our treasures lol
This is really so beautiful, I love your style. Thank you so much for sharing!
Thank you for the great video, though I must say Victor stole the show!❤
@@HerefordGal ha! He sure did, he’s the sweetest little guy.
Thank you so much for sharing your process. For a self-taught, beginner silversmith such as myself this kind of tutorial is like gold! Question: wouldn’t it be a bit easier to join your links before soldering? Or is there a reason for soldering first? Thanks again for freely sharing your knowledge and process. Your calm demeanor and straightforward technique is easy to watch and follow along with. 😊
@@amccaffrey1443 oh thank you, I appreciate that feedback.😀 mainly I solder first so that I can stretch all the links. You could definitely stretch them though still if you soldered together as round jump rings.
❤
They are not really round. How do I make them round
@@Saywhatohno no, they definitely aren’t perfectly round. I haven’t figured out a good way to accomplish that.
@@amuckdesign I saw where some people make 2 squares and then solder them together and then use a gear wheel to make them round lol the issue is the gear wheel lol don’t know where to get that
@@Saywhatohno interesting, I’ve not seen that. I’m sure there’s a few tricks to getting them round, I’ll have to do some more investigating myself.😀
Do you sell your copper tips?
@@BigBenzBizarreBazaar I don’t, but that might be something to think about.
Enjoyed meeting you and your husband at Sparks. I was one of the guys that was sitting at the picnic table while you had your lemonade, quizzing you about what you do.... As I mentioned, I have great respect for people that create things with their hands, so I had to subscribe. Maybe we'll see you there again next year.
@@kevinchura9913 it was so fun talking to you as well!!!
That tray was very cool. Did you get it?
@@paulacorte3912 no, I left that one behind for someone else.
What is that device called to make their circles I try to look at it on Amazon. I can’t find it. I need the name. Thank you
@@melissasolis5370 search for round disk cutter set.
What press are you using?
@@jobi765 it’s a very old Bonny Doon 20 ton manual press.
@amuckdesign thank you for letting me know. You rock!
Thank you very much for this serie😊👍 It's going to be great help for my project of squash blossom! I'm preparing it but I would need an advice please😅 What kind of silver beading wire do you use? I guess it must be very strong to deal with all the silver and turquoises.... Many thanks for France🙏
@@emiro8421 you’re very welcome. I’ll look up the chain that I use and post the size/item# tomorrow.
@@amuckdesign thank you!
@@emiro8421 I like using the sterling round foxtail chain for stringing these heavier beads. On RioGrande’s website it is item number 612262B. It comes in a few different mm sizes.
@@amuckdesign thank you very much! 😊👍
I have some round nose pliers like those and I have never seen any others with such a long "nose". They were my very first round nose pliers and remain my favorite. Thanks for this great video.
So helpful!! Thank you ❤❤
I love these. Thank you for showing us this.
@@kristibbradshaw my pleasure to share with you.😀
Where do i get the metal tubing?
@@sandycalderone I order mine from Rio Grande.
@@sandycalderone sandy, I’ll double check the item number this afternoon of the one I use most. The tubing size will also depend on your bolo cord diameter.
@amuckdesign yes, thank you. And thx fir the quick replies
😭😭 thank you for existing!! Its so hard to find this sort of explanation style anymore- when its just, like, just explaining like u were just hanging out with someone in person 😭 it makes it so much easier to feel like im part of a bigger community as opposed to the videos that sacrifice quality for the sake of 'the algorithm, or the ones that are just kind of ads for craft stores n such, if that makes sense 😅
@@1star_god thank you so much!!! Your comment makes me feel so much better about an online/live class I’ll be teaching this Fall.😀
That rotating soldering platform is clever. What was the stuff you were spraying on the stack of beads? Thanks for showing how to do this. I recently tried making oblong beads, and made a mess of it. You make round beads seem almost possible for me, the amateur. Edit - Never mind - I read answers to my questions in the comments. Thanks!
@@beowoofthemoviestar thank you, I love being able to rotate my pieces. It’s flux in a spray bottle.
Beautiful ring!!
@@gjk540 thank you!!

Thanks for the video. I like the technique of using the pliars to open the jump ring into an oval. Would it not be easier to wrap around an oval former?
It would be easier if you happen to have an oval former.
Awesome, thanks for the vid. I will be making some tomorrow just as you've showed!
Have fun making your tips!!
