is this the same as language reform?
I love your videos so much, I always watch them before my English exams. Thank you for making these!
Same
Please, may I know which level of university study is that? That is so interesting!
its at sixthform/college
@yasir5673 thank you, but is it for advanced natives or can non-native also be concerned? Thank you in advance.
@@crystall9701 What are advanced natives? Im studying it currently as a student at sixthform
Fantastic video!!! thank you very very much!!
Amazing thank you so much
This is an outstanding video. You've taken me from resenting having to break texts down in such a detailed manner to becoming fascinated by the process and outcomes. Thank you!!
Can we buy this booklet?
I have just started this A Level as of September 2024, and these videos are very helpful. Thank you.
What a precious and informative lecture. Thank you so very much for sharing it
for the first evaluate question (evaluate if its an advantage to be able to switch between different varities of english), all the theories and terminology mentioned was leaning towards supporting/agreeing what the question said, so where is the 'evaluate' part where we can bring in theories/models/studies that can go against this idea?
Hi Paul, thanks for this. would it be possible for me to send you an answer at all, for some guidance?
Is there any way I can contact mr heselton to look at my scripts it’s quite urgent thanks
Saved my ass, thanks. (It's currently 4:41am 09/09/2024 and I go into College in approx. 7 hours...!)
Really appreciate your comments here. Good luck in your future studies!
Paul you don’t know me at all but you effectively helped teach me English Language A Level alongside the online course I was doing. I didn’t get to do A Levels at the normal age due to becoming ill as a teenager so had to come back in my late 30s. I got an A* this week and that is in part due to your videos, I would even listen to them every day walking to work. Thank you for sharing everything you have, you’re invaluable to students like me.
I grew up here, weirdly we don't learn about this. One thing though up Islanders means people from West Tisbury, chilmark and Aquinah. The local pronunciation was Menemsha fishermen.(Which is in Chilmark) Down islanders where from vineyard Haven, Edgartown and Oak bluffs which where towns with the boats that brought tourists. And was more developed. When I was growing up all up island kids attended one school. With less than 1,000 children
This is just so brilliant - battling with a levels for English & Business. Only had like 6 months to prepare for business. Your videos are helping me cut down on time spent on English to tranfer over on to Business. At the end of my course, I'll make sure my teacher gets this video for all her fiuture students to get as much of this excellent info as possible
Paul are you going to do paper 1 from 2023?
i love you!!!!!!
paul you helped me so much, you’re amazing 🩷
Paul is the best ever
paper 2 tomorrow thanks paul
never felt more confident after watching a video! paper 2 a level tomorrow....
How was it..
tomorrow
that Manchester accent was top tier
I find it interesting that you mentioned slightly incorrect instances of spelling in the model answer - so could I take this to mean that the occasional addition or subtraction of a letter won't end up negatively affecting my grade due to lack of SpaG?
I believe so, my teacher said as long as the correct meaning is conveyed and you don't misspell every single word then it shouldn't matter, especially if it is clearly a typo. Good luck tomorrow.
@@nuggs6150 Thanks - you too! How confident are you?
@@hassanrizvi370 Feeling good about all but Question 3 so we'll see what happens.
@@nuggs6150 So how was it? Personally, I thought q1 was amazing - you can do so much with 'identity'. I struggled a bit on Q2 though and am I scared I might've gone a bit off track for Q3 but hopefully that's not the case.
❤❤❤
this is an absolute lifesaver of a video and I'm absolutely going to use it for my mocks and exams-- thank you! I'm just wondering, are patterns graded highly regardless of which language level they apply to? you mentioned (and I've been led to believe) that lexis and semantics as a focus generally limits the level of analysis, but would an analysis of lexical patterns (such as the 2nd person pronouns example you gave) be graded high?
have u done ur mock yet? mines this week
Your videos are helpful but AQA only officially releases the 2023 paoers in July 2024. This allows schools to retain one paper the students can't get there hands on....
Is any of this useful for AS level? If so which Qs?
not sure if you still need it but the q1/2 (diversity topics only) and the question 4 - article writing.
I believed that the first question was always a choice between writing about gendered language or language diversity/change?
one question will always be change. the other question will be on an unspecified diversity topic, that could be gender, or it could be accent, dialect, age, occupation etc.

Have this paper tomorrow, thankyou for these videos!!
Why are the marks doubled? I can't say I've been told that before
On AQA, the papers have double the weighting of the coursework, so they multiply exam marks by 2 :)

how we feeling for thursday?
I can't thank you enough for making all of your videos- sometimes I feel like its great to get another individuals teaching methods as well as what I get at college, because it really allows me to compare and find what the examiners are clearly searching for. You give me clarity so thanks a lot
