Here’s my abbreviated take on the this gem from Van Halen’s “Diver Down” album. I love this tune and after a couple hours learning it and working it up I had to post it. Small tip of the hat to Louie Armstrong in there as well.

    Great video! I have the Cutdown Reacher from Duck Commander, and with most of their calls, I’ve figured out you have to blow a certain kind of way when compared to more standard cut downs and J frames. Once you learn how to get down on one, trust me, you’ll like them. They’re just different

    I noticed that Outro back when it was released and read up on Chris. True he was a Jazz player prior to HLN and still is. His solos added that bit of obscurity to the songs like Jammin and Small World .. Also Back in Time The Kid was no slouch on the guitar.

    I still love Huey Lewis and The News. And even Chris Hayes Solo stuff!

    Great video Nick! It definitely takes a significant amount of skill and pressure to blow those. You know I can’t. Miss you bro!

    Appreciate the video. I’ve been using J frames for years and now that I was thinking about finding a decent cut down that wouldn’t wear me out blowing people say they’re learning curve is too involved and to stick with what I know

      @kolbegarner5815 ปีที่แล้ว

      I’ve been blowing them for about 5 years but blew j-frames before, it just takes air presented in a different way.

    Brilliant outro solo on this track. On the fade out is absolutely stunning. Also the Back in Time solo is superb!

      That IS a great solo!! I used to vibe out to it a lot when I was a big runner in my Navy days. I’d listen to Huey and Journey a lot on my runs. Great tone and vocabulary on that solo for sure.

    Absolutely wonderful phrase. I love the pause before he starts it. Seeing as you like this, check out Page's lick as "Hangman" fades out. Similar and just as neat.

    Chris Hayes early guitar work was a bit new waveish, and really did not have a direction in what the band was to be identfied as, but when the band made the album Sports Chris Hayes really came into his own with a fresh new sound that gave the band a slick sheen sound but yet a hard rockin edge.

    Dude, this is awesome! You are right, it's from Fore!, written by an unknown at the time Bruce Hornsby, no doubt a bad-ass rif, and you nailed it! Especially from a guy who looks younger than the song! lol Chris Hayes is an awesome guitarist and put a lot of nice stuff in all of their songs. I'll get started learning this right away! Good job.
