Hung a bit with Terry and Becky back in the early/mid seventies. Truly wonderful people. They used to play their music at Red Eye's saloon back in the day as well as other venues. Terry was extremely brilliant. I moved to Colorado around '76 and lost track of those truly exceptional folks. At that time they were living in an old train station in Milford. Wonder where their life's paths took them.
Nice!
Fritz Weatherby produced this film.
What a blast! GO STEVE!
My 2nd ride was is Chris's Radical, but I didn't get any video on that one.
I bought my first hanglider kit from Terry. Just a bunch of tubing. I covered it with polyethylene and duct tape for the sail. Ran off 700 foot cliffs with it before I could afford a Dacron sail. I talked Phil Haynes into letting me try out his hill for hanggliding. Morningside. Still fly trikes. Thanks Terry for getting me started. Carl
Do have any photos?
Brilliant!!!!
RIP Mickey
I used to hang around with Terry back in 68-70 or so, until I moved away. Saw him once at a coffee house in Milford, I think, in the late 70s. Lost contact with him after that. Is he still around?
You got us Off, Terry. Way to go. Long live gliding...
In three years the Lilienthal hang glider meet is fifty years ago!
I'd like to see a remake!
In 1972 I had just started flying hang gliders. I went to Grandfather Mountain in North Carolina to watch the Nationals! All the greats were there. As I started up the mountain to get a look at launch, there was a long haired hippie looking dude (my people) standing in the rain hitching a ride to the top. Seems to me there is also an amusing story about a lightning strike on top of Grandfather that year, eh, Terry?? LOL
Hi Terry, Hope your doing well. I need to get in touch with you about a reunion ( Becky, Tom, Rick, Marilyn, and Bill) to retake our picture on the cadillac , you know.... then and now. I'm trying to get everyone together this coming summer at Morningside. The picture can be view on my Martin Wing Site .... www.martinwing.com/hangglidingpicturepage.html . Please contact me at 727-204 3932 or if you prefer highmartinwing@gmail.com. Looking forward to hearing from you. Gini says HI!
May 2015 Pine Mountain glass-off from Nico's GoPro videos
A few years back I was friends with a woman named Bobby and we were building her camp in Maine. She asked me to stop by her parent's place in New Hampshire to pick up the roof shingles with my truck and I might be interested in meeting her little brother Terry as he had built a glider that he runs down a hill with and flies. Terry took me on a path through the woods where he hangar'd his glider at the edge of the woods and the top of a open hill. I thought that this was not going to end well, but he picked it up and went running down the hill, barefoot of course, and he flew. It was not the hill in this video as Terry had become more confident with experience. He flew ten, twenty, maybe more than thirty feet high and a long way away. I had to build one. Bigger and better. I crashed it on the first day of trying to fly. Probably too much beer as I recall.
I flew Terry's glider on that hill behind his parents in Dunbarton😄
...A good little documentary of early 'hanging' flight....and prescient comments such as the good winds at bottom of hill reaching the top of hill, ensuring smoother, nicer conditions....and also the reduced glide ratio (over ground) if headwind is too strong. Ah, the 70s, with its colorful clothes and longer-haired men...
That's my grandpa with the ripped pants!!😋
Just out of curiosity where is Kurt's Hill?
I LIKE YOUR VIDEO VERY GOOD, NOW WOULD LIKE MY OLHASE AND IF YOU CAN, SHARE AMONG FRIENDS, DOES THIS PART WITH THE SPONSOR, IS, elianay racewalking in globe, thanks!
Jonathan Livingston Seagull: "For most gulls, it is not flying that matters, but eating. For this gull, though, it was not eating that mattered, but flight." I Believe I can Fly!

First day hike up to Trail Camp (12,000'), second day summit and back down to Whitney Portal
Wow, I haven't seen this in years! That's my dad on one of the wings :)
Man, the names just get better and better, huh? First, Second Wind, then Tam and the Bourines... what's next? O Range Kum and the Quats? lol I don't know them but someone I know does... I'm too controversial to make my real self known... I'm TRULY in stealth mode. Go head... GOOGLE ME and have a blast!
LOL!!! The author removed the "stealth" comment... lol Omg, the FBI is watching!! Where is Alex Jones?! Help us!! We have no stealth!! Help us!!!
I'm a little afraid to ask what constituted the "First Wind"
your stealth is amazing... one of the best stealth situations I have EVER witnessed. ;)
was gonna ask, "still with the megababe?" but chrissy, below, answered that question... Anyways, I'm surprised the music didn't fly... just as good, if not better, than anything else back then.
Excellent vid. Thanks
Great video, thanks for the upload.
