Enjoyed that! Great sense of hoofing it on the downwind. Despire being a *lot* faster, strangely similar to my own memories of Nationals in Galway Bay, at least the going-for-an-unscheduled-swim bit.

I don't know how much rail meat an Escow needs but it's more than you got 😀. I've always wanted to sail one of those monsters.

It's a really fun boat to sail. Especially when out on the wires and can only see to top half of the rig. I really miss all the I14 a Sailors we have lost. God Bless.

BTW, how would the Fireball compare with a Laser II? The Laser II was wicked fast with the chute up on a reach, but in your video here the Fireball looks really fast upwind.

LOL, great stuff. Used to race a dingy with a spinnaker, way too much going on! I now sail a single sail dingy...life is simple.

Totally reminds me of 3-sail reaches on the Laser 4000 on the Tay in great winds. There is nothing better than being slightly overpowered downwind in a skiff with a gennaker and space to bear off and just enjoy it. We had many days where we laboured upwind struggling against the wind in our L4K and then after 3 hours upwind came back in 20 minutes. Worth it. Every Single Time. Luv and Peace. Used to be able to see the centreboard in big waves. And the L4k centreboard used to hum and the harmonics changed according to how fast you were going. We used to get 3 tones up an know we were flying.

Running a spinnaker downwind makes any boat. I cannot imagine owning a boat that doesn't have one.

Imho: any boat that can capsize in typical conditions should be a 'feet in' boat w hiking straps like a 505, e scow, 470, hobie etc

Well done to you all. UK Fireball last Fireball at Poole Yacht Club England only three Fireballs. The UK Fireball fleet only likes doing National and International Championships. Should be an interesting AGM at Rock. Any idea how to get more people going to events.
