Very good demo. Thanks for the time and effort and thanks for sharing.
Good demo, I was raised in the quad city glad to catch you guy on you tube. Rock Island was home went to Edison
How woud I purchase kits?
Great demo with helpful tips throughout. Your skill with the skew is a joy to watch!
Good demo - I would like to know the brand/name of markers that Greg used on his demo tree. Please reply if you know.
Faber-Castell PITT artist pen big Brush
@@gregkatlongbike8063 Thanks Greg for the quick reply. Your demo was great and very simple to follow. Diameter looks about 1-1/4"?
@@timwhited5933I start with 8/4, ends up around 1-5/8”dia.
Good demo. Nothing out of the ordinary really other than the final decoration & detailing.
That was a great demo! Quality turning, helpful tips and good wit.
Thank you for making this video. I have been wondering if woodturners outside of India knew about this process in Channapatna. It is fascinating.
Where can you get these sticks! No one seems to know.
Tyler makes his own with button shellac and custom colors. The only thing I found that was close and was commercially available in the US were MERIT burn-In sticks: www.shellac.net/merit_burn-in_sticks.html but they have limited colors
this is really interesting and it's been on my mind for the last six months.
2100 views and only 31 likes? Come on guys, where's your class?
Just saying 1hp is 1 hp. The 3 phase is more efficient than single phase and does not require a capacitor. You have 3 nodes of line voltage in 1 motor rotation vs single phase. No disrespect to your lathe knowledge just helping provide someone else with a bit of information. You did a great job with breaking the lathes down.
Can you explain the painting process better. What type of paint, how to keep it from bleeding to the next spot….. thanks, nice process and look!
Nice demo, thanks for sharing.
Thanks for the video😊
The sound is messed up. Why even release this video?
No the audio is just fine must be on your end buddy
Well done demo and very nice work. I would like to know what you used to color the finished mill you brought.
I'll be getting into turning soon, already had 2 classes, one of which was pen turning and made my first pen.. came out great. Where can someone get these acrylic blanks with the Armed Forces emblems at? You mentioned a lady who makes them, any link?? Thanks!
Nicely done, Tyler. I like the details you share and your approach. Your sharing of your skew chisel techniques is very helpful. Been a fan of your work for years, actually when you were making candle sticks & coloring with crayons many years ago, very creative coloring approch.
Can you please send me name, address phone number of Indian guy who sells dry shellac sticks Do you also make and sell if so please give your contact information Ratilal Vadhavana
Those tool rests with the curves for getting inside a bowl: a bit confused in that the curves on the ones shown were on the left as you face the lathe. How would you get inside a bowl on the headstock side? All the bowl hollowing I’ve seen is on the tail stock end. Am I missing something?
Informative! Thanks. Would you be willing to address turning tools needed. Blessings!
Yes, made a series of videos for the beginner. Here is the turning tools video. th-cam.com/video/Hh16To5HnMs/w-d-xo.html
well done, LOTS of good ideas.
I have some unidentified sandpaper that is a fine grit 400. It leaves a residue behind and I'm wondering if there is any insight on the issue.
The bottoms leak because the wood might actually be red oak instead of white. Sometimes it's difficult to tell, even for experienced woodworkers..
Good content. I like this guy's demeanor, and approach. Thanks for posting.
Pressure pots do not push bubbles out. They compress them so they cannot be seen.
Vacuum chuck. I was thinking spending $600.00 dollars in accessories for my $600.00 used lathe just sucks, then you proved it. I appreciate the introduction. I'm a professional woodworker, but wood turning is a whole new language.
Buy a $1200 lathe and you will feel better about the $600
@jessegarman7899 lol, I did just that! $$$$$
I've been looking for the Powermatic 100th anniversary 3520 model. Its got the Black paint job on it. Anyone know where to get a new one, by chance?
Came across this video I'm 70 year's old and have been turning 60 years my grandfather got me started at ten years old and I had too promise my grandfather not to say anything to my mother that he was teaching me wood turning my father was cool with it anyway I've always used good quality tools but inexpensive one's and found Benjamin's best have always worked great for me they are good quality and sharpen easily and last for the price of them! I am on my lathe almost every day I enjoy making live and natural edge bowls I can't even begin to tell you how many I've turned over 60 year's as with other turnings i have recently bought carbide tool's and ABSOLUTELY HATE THEM i personally prefer old school! You don't need the expensive stuff believe me I've bought them and there in my useless toolbox some place in my shop !!!🤔
Any way to get a copy of the pdf mentioned in this video?
You should be able to get the files here: drive.google.com/drive/folders/1Fh2Coiue0OvyLFrQn-MEV8549XL63iqi?usp=drive_link
How do you find accessories for a lathe that has no markings on it, I purchased it from someone that didn't know anything about it
What size lathe and motor horse powerwould I buy to make baseball bats and table legs. Thanks
i've turned table legs on a 16-40 lathe w/ 1 1/2hp and have not had any issues. Recommend not going below 1 hp
Getting first lathe. Thank you for these videos.
Great video. Much appreciated
Bill, thanks for this and your other videos for beginner woodturners. Woodturning, like any other worthwhile endeavor, is complex and has a language and toolset all its own. You dispel the mystery out by providing simple, understandable information. Thanks for taking the time.
Nice lesson, just what I needed, thank you!👍
Dave I am new to wood turning but have been fractal burning for years. Love combining the two arts. Thanks for sharing your talents.

Great video and nicely filmed. I really appreciate your delivery of the facts. Easy to listen to …… NO MUSIC ether beating your head or the presenter competing with the background. Thank you from Maine
I have the pm2014, the only thing that I noticed you didn’t mention was the extension table for it, cost of $365. I love my lathe. Great video series. Thank you
Very good video!! Thank you
Thank you for the informative content sir!
I understand the parts I started with a mini moved to midi and now i am after a full sized, So in your opinion any full-sized brands are worthy? I have watched to many videos and read to many reviews that I might have lost my ability to choose a new lathe. I have 3k to spend and I am not sure where to spend it, everybody has a love hate with a lathe. to many choices, Nova DVR Laguna to name a few. thanks for the video, Had I not known what I do it was a very good description of a modern lathe. maybe a brand review next time?
Thank you so much for this video
