Come along on my Tracer 900 for this Epic Ride up Provo Canyon in Utah (relaxing music)
The weather is finally good enough, and the avalanche danger is low enough to start cruising up the canyons on my 2020 Tracer 900 GT. Join me on this chill motorcycle ride up Provo Canyon in Utah to Heber Valley (video and music only). The mountains are still slammed with snow and you can see several avalanche slides (where I get pretty distracted). I hope you enjoy!

Is this the most overlooked motorcycle? 2020 Yamaha Tracer 900 GT
มุมมอง 12K2 ปีที่แล้ว
In this video, we look at my 2020 Yamaha Tracer 900 GT. I think this model is overlooked by many people, but it is built on the same platform as the MT-09. It uses the same powerful and torquey Cross Plane Triple (CP3) that Yamaha has become famous for. This motorcycle is an excellent choice for riders who want a powerful, comfortable motorcycle for touring, twisties, and maybe some light off-r...

2022 Kawasaki z400 6 Month Beginner Bike Ride Review
Where I can find this one ?
Great video Brother, and this is the one I am really considering getting!
😊
I'm gonna get this bike as my first beginner bike. From what I've reserched it just ticks all the boxes
Your z400's color is so different. Oh by the way - I heard your version has higher horsepower than my Asian version, in Asia it's 45hp Do you have a paint defect on the engine? My z400 has a few areas where the engine paint is peeling off thank you , hope u can rep me !
2:36 nah that downshift had no business sounding that cool
stay safe bro. great ride
Just flip the 2 rubber boot on the sit
Display from 1999 Kawasaki must be ashamed of this!
But how much did you actually pay for it?
I am not a biggener rider, I have been riding for 30 yrs, do you mean I can't ride this bike because you said its for beggeners?
id be interested to see your electric motorcycle builds!
Uphill in 4th gear at 7000 rpm? Not a highway bike. You downshift in a headwind too. My SV650, in 6 gear at 5000 rpm rides like there are no hills or wind. It's probably a great street bike.
Nice job and scenic ride. There's a '19 near me with 5k miles on it that I'm considering. Do you find the high rpm nature of this bike tiring or whiny? Other option is the Honda 500F, similar power but more useable torque. Thanks for any input
I don’t mind the high rpm’s. It has never bothered me, although I have thought about moving to a higher cc bike just for the torque.
Did you like the Z400?
I do! It’s a great bike overall. The only thing is I’ve “wanted” a bit more power but never “needed” more power.
Great video. I have the 2015 FJ version. I’ve owned a lot of bikes over 3 decades, and it is my favorite ever. Maybe someday I’ll upgrade to this one. I’m using Pirelli Angel GT’s on mine and love them. Thanks for the vid!
I bought a 6 month old 2020 900GT with only 500 miles on it, I too got a cracking deal. I needed to change a few things to get it to suit me. 1) I bought a seat levelling kit as there is a definite slope into the tank which was uncomfortable 2) I had the uncomfortable stock seat reupholstered with memory foam and a non slip cover 3) Handlebar risers bringing the bars back another 2 inches 4) Crash bars fitted and added Highway pegs 5) Scottoiler fitted to save lubing the chain 6) fitted a short sports screen to stop wind buffeting These changes have made it a far more enjoyable bike to ride, that triple engine is a peach.
Thank you for the details...💐be safe
Dream motorcycle😮
what windscreen do you have on that?
I built it from lexan.
Just bought this bike for my wife I'm 6 feet and it feels small but good enough
Awesome review. Just picked up a new z400 earlier this month. What windscreen is that?
If you watch the video, he explains it's a DIY
I built it.
Great vid! 👍 Picked up a 22' z400 w a LV10 slip on..Sooo much fun & love the ergos! (Former Benelli TNT 135 😅) Be well, ride safe, ENJOY!
I also have a 22 with LV10. Awesome fun
This will likely be my first upgrade, and likely my daily commuter from that point on. I don't see myself puttering around on my 150cc bike for too much longer.
Do it! Sooo much FUN I'm coming off the TNT 135 You will thank yourself 110%!
I also own a tracer 900 GT since last saturday and I love it as well!😍 but i want to have a seat lifter as well. Do you have a link of that for me?
Suncrest is always a nice quick fun mountain to ride. I really like doing big cottonwood to guardsmen pass into Heber and then down Provo canyon and the over alpine loop and then you can take Suncrest from the Lehi side. The ride will take a few hours but it's a lot of fun.
Yes. That is an amazing ride. I did it twice last year.
@autonomis1 Yeah, I like to make a day of it, and sometimes I hang out in Park City or even go to Mirror Lake
I'm 5'11 and this bike will kinda look small on me🥺
Anything up to about 6’2 and you are fine on this bike
You're fine, I'm 5'10 and I bought this bike for my 5'8 gf, she can flat foot both feet just fine when stopped.
Does your Z400 moves forward with clutch lever fully released and without throttle , in the first gear?
Are you talking about with the bike switched off? In first gear with the clutch lever disengaged it will not move forward.
@@autonomis1 no not switched off. When I put it in the first gear and slowly let go of the clutch lever
Yes. It should move forward even with no throttle. If you slowly let the clutch lever out the bike will start to move forward.
@@autonomis1 thanks.
Using the rear brake in corners is not trail braking. It's trailing the rear brake sure, but trail braking is in essence, "trailing off" the front brake til you reach the mid point of the corner. It's that the idea that there are very few situations where just releasing the front brake cold turkey is optimal for suspension, weight transfer and chassis stability. Instead, to avoid upsetting chassis, weight distribution and suspension, as well as to avoid "coasting" in the corner where too much speed is washed off too soon (leading to uneven control inputs) you do probably eighty percent of braking before you enter the corner proper, then gradually trail the front brake off til that last twenty percent of speed is washed away so that you reach the optimal speed for the apex in a smooth, incremental way. In essence you are releasing the brake in a smooth way that ensures you reach optimal speed for negotiating the apex at the exact moment that you reach the apex. It also maintains a shorter wheel base by keeping the front suspension partially compressed which maintains a sharper steering geometry until the moment that you reach the apex, by which point the remaining suspension compression has been smoothly released which lets the bike flow back out toward the outside of the corner. Stability comes from smooth inputs whether rolling on throttle or "rolling off" brakes. It's probably a good way to think about braking in the same way that you think about smooth throttle application, Smooth braking is like smooth throttle application, it's a kind of "rolling on or rolling off". Apologies for the essay, but I'm astounded by the common lack of understanding of what trail braking is and isn't and the concept behind it.
Thanks for the explanation about trail braking!
That thing is nice. what is good price for 2020 with 700 mi?
Why don't you put it in the highest gear?
I do. Usually on highways. Through mountain roads it’s not needed
whats the top speed
Not sure. I’ve had it to about 105. Takes a long time to get up there though.
Oh the two face dash…Yamaha should have left it like that on pre 21, and they did switch it back on the GT+ for 2023 model.
Gt+ not available in U.S.
I just got the 22 in Liquid Metal. Quick little bike!! Definitely takes discipline not to wick it; I find I have a forward bias when I’m seated. One thing I’m looking to add is tank grips, I put them on my Monster 796 and they helped a lot. The signal switch and the kickstand are not well placed, those are my only complaints. Exhaust wise, I think I’m going to keep it stock.
I appreciate the effort you put into the camera work. Thanks
My pleasure!
Great review! Love this bike. It will most likely end up being my first bike.
Good choice!
I got it as my first like 3 weeks ago :D I love it, will prob spend a year or two on it and jump up to a 600 4banger Or aprilla 660... Maybe and xsr900
Yes! Keep on rockin' that Tracer! I got the same bike to. Stay safe out there.
Nice review man! I've been looking at these vs the MT03 for a first (street) bike.
This has more power than mt03. But that’s a good bike also
Tbh I am also looking at these or ninja 400 vs MT03.. Need some recommendation. Also @autonomis1 could you share your experience with night ride i mean how is the headlight supports at night? I dont think MT-03s headlight is good for night ride.
@@princeorville9457 the headlights are pretty good. I’ve had zero issues riding at night.
That was my decision to make too. I ended up finding a deal on a 2022 Z400 and I really enjoy it. I don't believe you could really go wrong with either bike, but I definitely enjoy the Z400. Having that extra little bit of power is great as you get more practice with the bike, and at higher speeds. The extra little bit of power can be slightly more intimidating as a beginner, but as long as you stay disciplined with the throttle while you learn, you'll be fine. The mt 03 does sit a little more cramped in the legs, so if you're taller than 6'2"-6'3" you might wanna lean towards the Z400. If you're taller than 6'4"-6'5" you're probably gonna be a little cramped on that one too. Both bikes have a pretty upright and easy seating position. Both of them keep your legs pretty well straight beneath you. They're both super easy to throw around and weave through traffic. It doesn't feel like there's any weight to either of them. Long story short, it comes down to spacing, any performance differences, and any other personal preference you have. They're both well built bikes at a very comparable price point
Where can I buy it ?
The tracer does not come with braided lines
No low or mid range power is typical of smaller twins. They excel on the high end. Why I prefer a single when it comes to smaller bikes as they make power in the low and mid range. For my style of riding on mountain roads with a lot of turns that low and midrange pays off. The 400 Kaws are dogs from a dig. I've ran a few on my little 390 Duke and it wasn't close.
The duke 390 is a fantastic bike!
@@autonomis1 they all have their pros and cons. For my style of riding the single on the Duke makes more sense. I've had it in the triple digits but not where it shines. The 400 Kaw is a better bike for top end.
Which is exactly I bought my first bike. CB300R 2024. Single cylinder.
Twins are smother than singels though. If i ever buy a single cyl bike it would be if i intend to use it offroad. for any street bike its 2+ for me any day.
How is the performance of the z400? Is the z400 more vibration in high rpm???
The performance is good. Keeping it at higher rpm let’s it stay in the higher power band. I don’t really notice any vibrations.
STOP has different meaning in the US 😮
My hornet at 919 gets about 40-50 miles per gallon. Where as my little ninja gets an average of 60 mpg. The ninja is a total city bike
How many you pay for the secure?
I used the screws from the original screen if that’s what you are asking.
Autonomis, where did you get your rubberized foot pegs? They probably work better than oem's, less vibrations on hwy.
I bought them on Amazon. Any footpega for the FJR 1300, FZ1, FZ09, etc should work. Here's the link: a.co/d/cntbc3w
I have the 2020 GT also. Same color...LOVE this bike. I did add a Corbin seat for longer trips. I bought it new in July 2021 and put 28K miles on it already. Recently scuffed her and myself but luckily I got it on video --->th-cam.com/video/SCb2pQ2yzyI/w-d-xo.html
What seats do you have installed?
That is a Bagster seat. It was a lot less than the Sargent or the Corbin. I think I paid $250. The quality is great! Also, added a seat leveling kit.
@Autonomis thanks....great job!!
Good review from someone who ride responsible…. also…..kids that grow up with fathers have more fun ….. stay strong …
I just hate the engine sound 😆. All I can afford(buying cash) rn but if I had enough money I'd want a cb650r for the inline 4 or even a mt07. But this should be good enough to get through the year.
Yeah the sound isn’t great. That high pitched whine bothers me. From what I’ve seen a lot of people put aftermarket exhausts on. However I’ve read don’t get the cheap one from Amazon.
That Honda CB750 Hornet looks pretty amazing for the money as well. Hope it makes it over to the U.S market soon
Feedback: suggest you include shots of the bike itself, how you sit on it, your riding position, what you do to carry light loads (e.g. school backpack), how you lock it (steering lock alone or with other locks/alarm). You know - stuff that beginners would be interested in. Seeing just the road in the entire video is not appealing.
Appreciate the feedback. I do have another video where I sit on it and show riding position for my height. But those are good suggestions!
I liked the road
What is wrong with people? Just turn the bars. That's why it's offset on the triples.
I'm curious why you chose the Z400 over the Ninja 400. I need to ride both to see which one I prefer. I'm a new rider to sport bikes. 🏍 I've ridden mostly dual sport bikes off road on trails. That way people distracted by their phones couldn't take me out. Street riding will be a whole new experience for me.
Main thing was the more relaxed seating position. I didn’t want to be crouched over the whole time while I was riding. Other than that the styling is a bit different and I think the insurance is a bit cheaper
@@autonomis1 Thanks. Enjoy.
Its cheaper and you don't have to deal with as many faring which is a pain when you need to do maintenance
I am coming from the dual sport world as well, last week I sat on the z400 z650 ninja 650 ninja 650r and ninja 400. The z series I feel.is slightly more upright then the ninja not by much though the ninja r is track setup so you lay over the tank. Real difference I noticed other them the fairings and looks is where the weight is with z650 I could feel the weight more up top in the bike the ninja felt more middle in the middle but the z400 was just super easy to toss around very light feeling reminded me of a dual sport but much more street oriented.
