How To Add CYA (Liquid Cyanuric Acid/Conditioner Or Chlorine Stabilizer Granules) To Your Pool
มุมมอง 762 หลายเดือนก่อน
CYA is not an everyday maintenance chemical. You will not need to add it very often. It’s important because it holds your chlorine level for longer. This means less wear and tear on your salt water chlorinator and/or less of a need for liquid chlorine. Sometimes small amounts of CYA are contained in weekly maintenance products or non-chlorine sanitizer. Always check your levels first before add...
Test Pool For Alkalinity
มุมมอง 414 หลายเดือนก่อน
You can test your pool water’s alkalinity using a test kit such as the Taylor test kit. You can also use test strips or take a sample to a pool store. Measuring alkalinity is a task that I find myself doing A LOT during the summer months. Most of the time I use the test strips. It’s a good idea to double check using a test kit before adding large amounts of chemicals. I use baking soda to incre...

Hayward Pool Pump Freeze Protection
มุมมอง 3369 หลายเดือนก่อน
Check your pool pump settings for freeze protection. The default setting is 39.2°F or 4°C. This means that your pump will automatically start running when the temperature drops to 39.2°F if you have it set to “enabled.” It will prevent your pipes from cracking and keep the water flowing during cold weather.

what if you mix baking soda in a bucket of water and pour it in the pool would that work better?
That would work too!

I found it. Hold the left and right arrows and it unlocks. Locks automatically
Thanks
How deep is that ?
The tube goes down about 5 or 6 feet.
Recommend putting the granuals in a pool sock and placing that in your skimmer basket until it dissolves.
great video short and sweet and straight to the point without confusion or unnecessary talk. Thanks a lot
Great video thanks for sharing!
Do you know how to turn this pump back on after the last timer of the day have expired (basically override the preset timer)? There are times that I want to heat the pool overnight but timer shuts the system down and the display panel turns off entirely, so I'm not able to operate any of the pool mechanicals.
I don’t think it allows you to set up more than one schedule at a time. So you’d have to manually go in and change it each time you wanted to heat overnight. Best option would be to press one of the speed buttons on the left of the panel. Let that run all night and it should automatically switch to your normal schedule in the morning. Hope that helps!
Can you show us how to do a backwash and a rinse thank you.
Backwashing is only required for sand/DE filters (from my understanding). I have a cartridge filter, so I just clean or replace the filter. Check out my channel, Pool Care Share, for videos on how to do these (and other) pool maintenance tasks.
Tip: Open the air pressure release valve right after turning off the power at the beginning of this process.
I just have low alkalinity
Check out my other video, “How To Add Baking Soda To Pool To Increase Alkalinity”
Ok
How wide is the pipe/tube? Thanks
8.5 inches diameter
Please visit my channel or suscribe for more details on parts of this video such as the process for cleaning your cartridge filter and how the handheld vacuum works.
Another option to get the water circulating is to temporarily use your pump’s high speed button (if it has one). No need to turn off and turn back on.
just wanted to say bravo for resisting the overpriced Leslie's NoPHOS chemical.
I’ve used the Leslie’s brand as well. But this one in the video is way better!
Did you turn off any valves to stop the water prior to doing this?
I turn the pool pump to off and I open the air pressure release valve. It’s not necessary, but you could also turn off the power to the pool pump at the main breaker while doing this. Just make sure the air pressure release valve is open when you turn it back on.
Very informative video thank you, how often do you back wash your sand filter(if you have one)?
I have a cartridge filter and I usually clean it every month in the summer and every 2-3 months in the winter. How often you should backwash really depends on how much use your pool gets, if you use a skimmer sock and how much debris gets into your pool from trees, grass, etc.
Mine was low since we change my liner
I recommend buying the liquid conditioner and not the granules. It’s expensive but you won’t need to use it that often.
I wish my wife would do all that stuff.
Thanks! I had forgot how to do this and misplaced the manual.
You’re welcome
That only designed for fiberglass and concrete pools. Can I use it for vinyl pools with vinyl liner?
Put the skimmer sock on the outside of the basket
If you put it on the outside , it can get sucked to the filter , I was lucky, it got caught up in my pump trap
@Brooklyn-gz4wv very true it happened to mine too ... I didn't know until it happened...Now it's on the inside
Great job, nice kit. You have a lot of helpful accurate information.
Thanks!
I knew there had to be some installer set up menu. I was just trying to find it. Thank you for the clear cut dry info.
You’re welcome
I have added 2 more videos to my channel showing how to use a cartridge filter cleaning spray and the cartridge filter cleaning tool.
Which model is that? Is that the 2603? That is what I just installed today and it is so quiet I’m not sure if I’m moving enough water. I have a Hayward sand filter so I don’t want to try and push to much through it since they can’t handle the amount of gal per minute as a cartridge filter. This is where I wish I had a flow meter. I’m on 1 1/2” piping on a 16x32 in ground and my pump is only 10 ft from the pool. Right now I’m using 2250, 1500 and 1100 for my 3 timers running 24hrs
Mine is Aquarite 900 series, AQR925. It is 2 years old. Your schedule sounds good to me!
Thanks! Must be doing ok since my salt cell is still generating at 1100rpm. I heard they can generate as low as 11-15 gpm.
Mine are only at 145 and I thought that was high
145 is not too bad at all! My phosphates are constantly rising. Maybe related to the hose water I use to top off (even though I use an RV filter), the rain water or other factors.
Pool Pump Schedule May 2024 9-9:30am-3000 rpm 9:30am-8:30pm-2000 rpm 8:30pm-9pm-3000 rpm 9pm-9am-1200 rpm Trying a slightly different schedule for Summer 2024. Find what works best for your pool depending on size, amount of use, amount of debris getting in pool each day, etc. Would love to see what schedule others use. Please post your schedule in comments.
What size is yours?
@@davekazda6028 12 x 24, 7800 gallons
Any suggestions for a 20x40 schedule? Thanks. @@poolcareshare
What would you suggest on a 20x40 for pool compared to your schedule? Approx 33,000 gallons.
@@davekazda6028 What did you ever decide on? I have the same size pool and just started using this today: Spring / Summer (Mid-April - Mid-September) 8AM to 9AM (3000 rpm) - Timer 1 9AM to 7:30PM (2800 rpm) - Timer 2 7:30AM to 8PM (3200 rpm) - Timer 3 8PM to 8AM (2200 rpm) - Timer 4
Dry form is a giant PIA I’m using liquid the next time…
Me too!
do you keep your chloronator running while waiting for the crystals to dissolve?. I bought these same ones thinking they would dissolve quickly.
Yes, I keep the pump running on its normal schedule.
Run it for a long time (up to 48 hours). If you let the granuals sit in the filter, they can slowly damage the filter. I would recommend putting the CYA into a pool sock and place that in your skimmer to prevent the granuals from causing harm to the pump (pump attemps to chop them up).
@@sniperlif3 Great tip. Thank you!
Update Spring 2024: Due to pollen season, I started this summer schedule in March instead of May.
Thank you!
You're welcome!
Can you give me the item information for the vacuum you use please.
It's called a Pool Blaster Catfish Ultra. I think it runs for around $150. Purchased it online.
Did you have visible algae in the pool before you did the treatment and did you leave it in the pool so the treatment killed it? Then vaccumed it out once the algae was dead? 🙂
There was no visible algae. I took a water sample to the pool store for testing. You can buy a phosphate test kit to test at home. I waited 48 hours after the treatment before vacuuming using the handheld vacuum and cleaning the cartridge filter.
Did you retreat with your phunky phosphate remover?@@poolcareshare
As long as chlorine is maintained, algae will not develop. Mine was at 2000 and no problem, but if chlorine goes low, I guess you're in trouble.
I have noticed that my skimmer suction is not strong enough and my pool is not as clean as it should be. What's your recommendation? I also have the Hayward pump setup.
Try cleaning your pump basket and cartridge filter. (I have videos on both of these procedures.)
Right to the point thank you!
I have a quick tip if you have a cartridge folder and you’ve algae in the pool but you don’t know algae into the cartridge filter can buy a cheap above ground pool pump and can vacuum the pool with that to waste
Hey guys! Just a follow up to my video here. You do not need to unplug your salt cell. You can just turn the salt cell to the off position. Much easier.
I have the exact same thing on my skimmer.
How many gals is your pool?
7800
Thank you for the short and to the points video. I changed my pool setting to low temperature setting and the video that I was following said to select the positive sign to save the changes. I couldn’t figure out why all of a sudden my pool is running nonstop your video explained that! Now I know don’t select the +change reset button! Now I have to go and reprogram my entire pool pump! Not sure what other videos you have but I definitely will be checking them out!
Glad it helped!
Thank you for this video. Been wanting to change the time for a long time. Got it set thx to you. 😊

The pump is above the water level of the pool. If the pump wasn’t above, the water level, the world will be gushing out.
I have this issue with water gushing out. What do I close? How to handle?
