Peoria Fire-Medical Department wanted to memorialize the 20 year anniversary of 9/11/01. We partnered with Glendale Fire, Sun City Fire, and Peoria Police to hang a large American flag over the intersection of 83rd Ave and Mariners Way. Thank you to AZ Family Channel 3 for covering our event.

The Peoria Fire-Medical Department has five recruits and a training officer at the 21-2 academy. Other cities include Buckeye, Scottsdale, Avondale, Goodyear, and AFMA. I'll keep saying this until everyone gets it: Keep It Simple, Safe & Sturdy. KISSS. Brontos are great for EU cities where they have very few structural incidents. Most EU countries have invested heavily in fire prevention post-WW2 so extension cords or appliances without a three-prong plug haven't been available for years. Buildings are built to higher standards. A Bronto for a busy US fire dept is madness. It's complex & finicky so there's a lot of down time. I hate to think what the Sonoran Desert heat (100F+) & grit will do to an aerial built in Finland, fine quality as it may be. Let's not forget how tall & top heavy they are. Phoenix flipped a Bronto on one of its first runs. I see this was filmed in 2017 so I'll bet this truck isn't in front line service anymore. In fact, like Pierce, I believe E-One isn't offering them anymore either. Rosenbauer builds an articulated TL truck called a T-Rex if you just have to have one & have $1.2 million to blow.
Get rid of tower trucks and ladder trucks period, no offense but that’s what it sounds like, honestly it could happen with in the next few years. Money is the issue, and not for departments but for people to invent it and make it marketable and “cheep” for departments though probably cost a lot more then four combined of the current things combined.

They are so close to breaking a new emergency invention of having a ladder truck and tower into one.
They've been available for years in most countries, sir. LTI, Sutphen, Metz, Bronto, E-One, Pierce, Kovatch, Smeal, American LaFrance, Ferrara, etc, etc. Some build aerials with an articulating fly section but all make combination tower-ladders. A few companies stick with separate designs such as Seagrave but their products are damned near indestructible. That's why busy urban services like FDNY & Philadelphia FD keep ordering Seagrave towers.
@@DByers-ci5kr I am talking about one you can use the tower (under the ladder), and the ladder at the same time and move it up and down (without moving the bucket. Maybe even like this, but the ladder to the side isn’t connected and can expand a retract, only reason I say this is because if there’s someone stuck suddenly it’s hard to stop shooting water to move the ladder to that direction, you would almost need to potentially call in another aerial, it would be easier to keep fighting the fire but also rescue at the same time so long as it’s not life threatening or the tower can go back down but keep the ladder up. Random but hay I am only a dumb teen who comes up with good interesting but maybe worse idea over ideas.
@@EricWhiteTheGamer Not sure what you're describing. Magirus makes an aerial ladder with a elevator pod that goes up & down the ladder. London recently bought several, 64m at full extension. See Cobra Emergency on TH-cam to see one. Also, when operating at fires in larger structures, it's advisable to position an aerial on each exposure side when possible.

I'm retired/disabled as well. Here's a real incident from 2018 that I just ran across from Houston Fire Dept.a few days ago. I did the slow motion & sent it back to them yesterday. th-cam.com/video/3MS_z3CAu28/w-d-xo.html Would you call this a flashover or backdraft? The firefighter' helmet caught on fire. Also just called & emailed it back to ABC13 in Houston. There was some confusion because normally you have to be the sole owner of any footage you send in. I asked "How about if YOU own it already?" "Send it in!" Done. I'm a retired HFD 911 Central Command Classified Civilian, no experience at putting them out. The job did get me inspired to get out from behind a desk & become an EMT/ambulance driver. I switched from government to medical.
I did this four years ago and my palms still get sweaty thinking about it.

Glad to see some departments still do this. I had to do it in my recruit class. They no longer do it.
We used to do similar ladder climbs here in the U.K and live carry downs. Health and safety has in some ways impacted on realistic training that both reinforces confidence of the firefighter but provides an element of risk. It’s the heightened sense of alert and state of mindset which keeps you alive and provides a chance of walking away safe.

Not sure when this was made (the actual day of the training) - but I live near Peoria, AZ (on the west side) and the high yesterday was 112 (Friday 7/15/2016). Assuming this training is recent - keep that in mind: that fire fighter trainiee is doing this in extreme desert heat.
Were is this fire departments at or what state is it in
