I really enjoyed the atmosphere of this movie, it’s so incredibly romantic. While I agree with Raine that it feels like we get no time with them together, I think that romantic tension built throughout the movie sort of excuses the lack of anything happening! Aadila can confirm that multiple times throughout the movie I was like “JUST MAKE OUT ALREADY!” Great intro for Timothee to become the gen z heart throb. Timothee is my KING (also a great movie).

Thanks for the shout! Worst movie is a tougher question, I feel like you can hate a movie for different reasons. Like the Eragon movie was probably the first time in my childhood that I felt that disappointed just given how much I loved the books. And I was 11. They literally just had to make it not suck and I probably would’ve loved it at that age! Shape of water has to be up there for me too, as a movie that won best picture. I’m saying that as a huge fan of Guillermo del Toro but this movie flat out sucked. I disagree with the oscars sometimes, but this made me feel like I watched a completely different movie than they did. Literally every other best picture nominee that year blew this movie out of the water (intended) and somehow this weird, not relatable, clunky story with no interesting characters won best picture. I was floored.

Out of all of the movies I’ve watched, this is certainly one of them. I guess my biggest criticism would just be that the allegories are way too obvious. I feel like you should set out to make a good movie first and then figure out how to weave in the allegories. Like everyone knows that obi wan kenobi is Jesus and jar jar is a Sith Lord representing the devil, but they don’t beat you on the head with those messages the whole franchise.

First off, it’s definitely “gah-win”. Secondly, Raine hit me with an absolute TEASE at the end talking about an original and a sequel with time in between each release. Surely, it would be blade runner and blade runner 2049, right? Since 2049 is a BANGER of a sci fi AND Jeremy loves ryan gosling, right? Tying in perfectly with our boy denis’ new dune movie coming out, right? No. TRON?! I guess I can’t knock it till I watch it, but not cool Raine. Very not cool. Great breakdown of the film as always, I appreciated the research you both did! I think you both mentioned not really knowing how the axe and CLEAN, NOT STAINED WITH ANYTHING SUSPICIOUS belt came to be in those locations. My best guess was that when he was looted, the guy knew where he was trying to go. Therefore, he took the same path ahead of Gawain and sold/bartered those items at a higher cost than they would otherwise go for, by telling them that Gawain may cross the path and it would be valuable to him. I’m probably just being too practical with this though, since the movie has a talking fox and huge naked giants walking around. Love this film though, thanks again for the pod. Now, off with your heads.
