General Society of Mayflower Descendants
เข้าร่วมเมื่อ 12 ก.ย. 2014
Celebrating the Pilgrim Spirit
More than one hundred years ago, a group of descendants of the Pilgrims who sailed on the Mayflower in 1620, saw the need for a national society to honor their memory. The intention was to remember these Pilgrims who established Plymouth Colony.
Today there are tens-of-millions of individuals descended from these brave souls. It is the goal of The Mayflower Society to join together people who share this heritage and to carry on the memory of our Pilgrim ancestors.
General Society Mayflower Descendants
(Founded 1897)
Anyone who arrived in Plymouth as a passenger on the Mayflower is considered a Pilgrim, with no distinction being made on the basis of their original purposes for making the voyage. Proven lineage from a passenger, approved by a Historian General, qualifies one to be a member of the General Society of Mayflower Descendants.

He's my 11th great grandfather through the Jonathan line
Had to be one of my relarltives.
My 12th-great-grandparents were William and Mary Brewster. I’m excited to learn about applying and, if accepted, sharing this experience with my children.
Totally delightful and informative!
Thanks for these videos. You really make history come alive for us!
That was most enjoyable! Thank you and Merry Christmas 🎄
Where is the honoring of the natives who helped them survive? It would have been another Jamestown but for the natives
Thank you 🙏 Merry Christmas 🎁🎄 🎄🎄🎄
Interesting, thanks so much. Merry Christmas!
Blessed to be a descendant of the Mayflower, Brewster.
My Grandfather x8 is John Cary founder of the Plymouth Colony
Fantastic history!
My ex husband and our sons are direct descendants of William Bradford
I am also a descendant of Issac and Mary my 10th GGP, Remember is my 9th GGF, her daughter Rebecca Maverick is my 8th ggm.
We're cousins! I am also a Remembe descendant.
Well done, what a lovely, history-filled video to stumble across. Thank you!
Not the original Plymouth in England 😂
I am a descendant of William Bradford.
This was a very interesting historical presentations. People from all over the world each year visit Plymouth and take in the historic sites. However, I wonder how many people visit the actual site of the original colony which is Leyden street? I wonder what archaeological research would actually find on Leyden? Be that as it may, I’ve always enjoyed standing at the original sites of historical significance.
This is so interesting. I am a descendent of Mr. Soule, and I imagine thousands of others are as well. I was vaguely aware of your organization for years, but I just happened to find your videos several days ago. Thank you for all of your wonderful presentations. This is the kind of history that should be taught in schools.
Love this . I love history especially when it’s our country’s history. Thank you!
These are my people! How marvelous! What a wonderful Christmas gift this was. Thank you, Lisa!
Delightful. Thank you and a very Merry Christmas to all!
I’m another Mayflower descendant ! Thanks for sharing.
As an ancestor of William Brewster, this was so interesting.
My 9th great-grandfather, George Soule, came here on the Mayflower. He was a signer of the Mayflower Compact.
Excellent!!!!!
I am a direct descendent of the Mayflower. One of the passengers is my ancestor and I have long form documentation as well. I have never heard of this society. I was also born on Cape Cod, MA. LOL I have ancestors from Sandwich and Chatham. I also have ancestors who settled in CT in 1603 and were clergy and part of the inception of the Congregational Church. I have direct ancestors from the Revolutionary War with long form documentation.
Lovely! ❤
Pasties (mince pies) in the UK are good. Those different than the mince pies at Christmas which are filled with minced fruit and sugar and are only sold at all the shops during Christmas season (which is why so many Brits stock up on them). The are so good (World Market sells very good ones--Walkers Shortbread company makes with shortbread crusts)! Me and my sister and our husbands did a tour in Scrooby, Babworth, and Austerfield, England this past Spring where the Pilgrims lived and went to church prior to leaving for Holland. Our ancestor was William Brewster and we were able to go onto the property of his manor house and talk with the owner! It is beautiful! We also stopped to look at Bradford's house where he lived in Austerfield. Also a visit to Plymouth MA is highly recommended. The cemetery is also amazing because of the unusual and historical graves.
So interesting ! I have ancestors from the Mayflower.
That was delightful. 😊
I really enjoyed this video. I learned a few things too. I think I may be what is called an 'indirect Mayflower descendant' with the marriage of the widow Alice (Bradford) Adams to Maj. James Fitch. I have descendants from there (Fitch). Merry Christmas!
1580/90s were not in the Medieval period. It was the Colonial period & Revolution (1565-1783)
George Soule is my ancestor
Oh my goodness so interesting. My family on my mothers side has the Soule ancestors coming over on the Mayflower. I love to give; I hope that part was passed down to me. Our ancestors sure went through a lot. I am thankful to them. Thank you for this
"If it tastes good it's not authentic" Love it! Excellent talk.
Ironic that the Mayflower landed on "12/22" (my bd) and Standish along with Hopkins are my 10th generation grandfathers... Love this story...❤️🐻☘️🎶🇺🇲
William Bradford would have been my husband’s stepfather/grandfather. His second wife, Alice Carpenter Southworth Bradford, was his many greats grandmother. I really enjoyed the retelling of this wonderful time in our history. ❤❤❤
What a lovely video! Thank you!
I am a descendant of William Bradford through my mother's line. I celebrate the heck out of Christmas and always have. I was raised in the Episcopal (Anglican) Church, so we didn't carry on that separatist fervor evidently, though my grandmother was very proud of her heritage.
The Pilgrims did not recognize Christmas as a holiday.
I just found your channel! How delightful, WB was my ancestor so hearing about his life then is fascinating. I look forward to more videos.
You and I are distantly related, for I am also a descendant of William Bradford!
How fun! I guess I should call you cousin 😊
Merry Christmas to all
My great grandfather was Sir Christopher Newport who brought the ships over from England
Very interesting 👌
I have loved watching this video. I live just 10 miles from Plymouth, England and found your insights so interesting. Thank you and sending Merry Christmas wishes to all of you across the Pond!
Another history buff I love it.
Nope, not me ! My ancestors were Virginia cavaliers and South Carolina land owners.
My ancestors were in Virginia.
I’m a tour guide on The Cape, I always try to emphasize the differences between the Separatists and the Puritans when we do that part of the tour. Thanks for giving me new insights in Christmas. It sounds like you are bringing good things to The Society.
