A detailed overview of the process. Apologies- watching the vid I realize I said “vertical stab” when I meant to say horizontal stab.. also- the dual sky motor is a 515kv NOT a “1515kv”. Oops. It’s actually a Dual Sky XM5050EA-14 515kv motor. 16X7 prop on 4000mah 6s. Way more power than glow.

For you hardcore scale folk- apologies for the aerobatics.
Very well done video for a very creative idea. You explained it very well. I am going to electrify a 46 size nitro kit and have been pondering battery access & placement. This gives me a great deal to think about and very useful ideas, especially with the foam and space occupying battery compartment concept.
Glad it helped! Here’s another electric conversion a bit closer in size to yours that might help. th-cam.com/video/CIGoufDRwOE/w-d-xo.htmlsi=2rY__JoVvrATQW1N
That motor sounds amazing!
very nice model, great job.
Just amazing....definitely subscribed to your channel man...
Damn thats incredible man....and that's electric??? I'm new to the plane hobby, been running trucks and buggies, but absolutely want to fly.... Thinking either sport cub s or the fms 1220 ranger rtf.... what's your opinion....which plane for my first plane?
NICE! I have a Hangar 9 Cripes A Mighty 3rd in my "hangar" and with your help, will convert! I'd been thinking about converting, but wonder just how to do. Thanks!
👍🏿👍🏿
Amazing scenery, sound and skills, congratulations! It takes a lot of confidence to fly that kind of plane in this space.
I have the Hanger ( 60cc Also and I run 22x16 two blade prop. It works good for me and the name brand prop is JC Super Props.
Thank you for a very well done detailed explanation of flying. I need to forward to members of our club, do more of them will know. Great instructions!
You’re welcome! Thanks for the comment. Hope I didn’t droll on too long and I hope folks might pick up a pointer or two! Happy flying!
Propellers can only cavitate in a liquid. The takeoff and landing were fantastic. Showed guts and the ability to remain calm. Very impressive. The scenery was simply spectacular.
Nice work. Landing was wild!
I would fly my Tundra there. You have some nerves of steel to fly that there.
Your pulling at least 100 mph gorgeous sound never gets old you’d think it’s real haha
Wow! I'm impressed with the plane and your landing! Great flight
Bravo!
Beautiful mustang and that sound is just BADASS BRO. I live in northern Washington. Im guessing you're location is on the west side of camano island. Subbed the chanel from SEDRO WOOLLEY WA 😊BADASS BRO
Great background, great plane and sound, I give it a 10, well done on all of it
That’s crazy
Please make more videos 👌 excelent flying! Love the sound!
Super
That sounds wicked ?
Very nice model, sound and landing! And wow, 4kw of power! I fly with the electric paramotor at that power.
That thing is so freaking cool. The sound is unreal. I’m working on a big Bud Noson p51 and can’t wait to fly it !
I thought from the thumbnail it was just going to be a motor test/run up… For the average person without much rc knowledge, this model is classified as giant scale and has an 89 inch wingspan. This was crazy! I fly my giant mustang off a 600ft paved runway haha. Thanks for the entertainment!
That was very impressive. For anyone who isn’t familiar with the P51, they are extremely difficult to control on the takeoff and landing. The rudder and throttle control had to be flawless to pull this off well done sir!
What a dream location!! Amazing skills and no room for any mistake, love the sound 😮
Sounds sooo good !!! Beautiful plane !
Thanks for the video. Fantastic flight and slow speed demonstration! Then you topped that off with an amazing landing with no room to go around. Great skills!
You really know your place. Great landing skills on that tiny patch of land
I’m really impressed
You are absolutely mad! Amazing conversion and sound and then an incredible landing into a tiny strip with no space for a go around, mad man! 🤣
Beside of that crazy sound on fly-by, Your landing skills are far more impressive. 98% of the video: yeah, ok... 2%: OMG... !!!! ;-)
Sounds great
Dude this is awesome!
Great flight!Killer sound.I thought my runway was cramped.Great job!
Absolutely Pure Awesome Sauce!! Beautiful scenery too. Where is this?
Thanks! Puget Sound WA
Beautiful bird there. Why does the prop make that sound?
@@wheelrunner25 prop rip is the tips going near or above the speed of sound. Full scale P-51s do not have prop rip. The prop is huge and geared down. You’ll hear it on full scale aerobatic airplanes at air shows. For me- it’s just cool sounding and a way to have an electric airplane sound good. Some might say it’s inefficient and simply an engine spinning at too high of rpm but for electrics that’s not true as it’s all relative to tip speed which is relative to prop diameter. Brushless motors have a max RPM unlike gas engines. So a bigger prop on a brushless motor is more apt to rip. Some don’t like it and that’s okay. Me- love it.
@@flybuilderpretty sweet spot. I fly from my yard in SEDRO WOOLLEY. Where do you fly other than the yard. I go up to the club in Ferndale near the silver reef casino
I’m way south of you. No flying fields within an hour of me
you got to be kidding!!
I have an Admiral 60cc equivalent motor, ZTW 150HV and use 12s 5200s in my H9 Fokker DVII and it pulls 119 Amps static using a 24x8 Falcon. Flies great but I am curious as to how you are getting Amp readings in flight? That sure would be handy. I'm using Spektrum NX10 with telemetry, flight pack voltage yes but not amps. I have even set this plane up for 12s 2P and haven't seen the need for it as I get 8-10 min flights as it is just on 5200s.
Good job, looks good
Good review, thank you
I'm in the process of converting my Great plains tiger moth to electric because my old OS 91 4-stroke is getting pretty tired and I plan on using it for fpv.. in the same boat it wasn't really designed for electric but I will make it work..
Absolutely gorgeous craftsmanship.. !!! Thanks so much for sharing !!
Ingenious!! Perfection!!
Where is this? I know your home, but what state?
Nice flight, made me dizzy and I already have Virdigo. John from Hayden, Idaho.
Beautiful conversion work sir. I have a top flite 182 kit still in the box and a 1/4 scale set of plans of a Cessna 140 that i am going to convert to a 140A. Bought the short kit from kit cutters, cowl from fiberglass specialty, additional balsa from National. John from Hayden, Idaho
I bought one of these H9 P-51D's several years ago and was so disappointed when I unboxed it that I put it back in the box and haven't touched it since. The workmanship was terrible. I was going to put a DLE 55RA in it since I felt like it was too large to be electrified. I'll have to watch your other videos on it. When I flew full-scale in the 70's and when I fly RC now, I control the speed/angle of attack with the elevator and the descent rate/altitude with throttle during landings. That's the right way to do it. On my Spektrum transmitter, I use its flight modes to control the flaps and F-mode trim gives me separate aileron and elevator trims for each position of the flaps. And, I can adjust the trims in the air like I would in a full-scale plane.
Nice conversion. I prefer electric over gas/nitro. I immediately caught the two misfires. On 6S, I knew it had to be about 500KV. A quick calculation on my iPhone tells me that the setup is very close to optimum. I use Spektrum's AS3X/SAFE receivers in pretty much everything.
Brother, would you consider sellings exact copies of the size and outline of the vertal Stab. and rudder. I would gladly purchase a copy. Can you also tell us the exact carbon gear you bought? All the rest is self explanatory. You got me going.
Hahaha. It is a fun thought right? The landing gear was a struggle. I ended up buying a set off Amazon from some no name overseas manufacturer. Trying to keep the scale look, the carbon gear I bought were rather thin to match the spring steel on a 185. They did not tolerate punishment well as after a couple dozen flights one side began to delaminate. I went back on Amazon to buy another set and, they are no longer available and the link is gone. I spent days trying to find another that was the right measurement and I could not. They are either too long, too short, too wide, wrong angle or something. Someone out there hopefully will find some that work. You could always go aluminum or even steel, but that might be a little heavy. My plans are a mess. All ripped up and full of glue. Not sure I would get you a copy, but I’d be happy to if it were possible? Maybe I can throw a bunch of tape measures on it and snap photos and send it to you.
