The first superhero who ever inspired me was Spiderman. He inspired me a lot growing up. He's still my favorite superhero of all time to this day. In a way, Spiderman helped save my life. When I was little, I suffered from a heart condition that nearly killed me during my first attack. I had been swimming in the deepest end of the pool when it happened and nearly drowned. Had it not been for my brother, I might not be here today. After that incident, my family wanted me to have some kind of signal to let someone know when I was having another attack as they caused me a sudden shortness of breath and rendered me unable to speak. We couldn't risk me having another attack in such a dangerous situation. I just got really lucky with that first attack thanks to my brother noticing me. After a bit of thought, my brother and I suggested the Spiderman web shooter hand to be my signal for help. The hand gesture also means "I love you", which my family often used at the time. But, instead of just meaning "I love you", it now actually served as a way to warn my family that I might be in danger and in need of help. Since then, whenever I had another attack, I'd make the hand gesture Spiderman is so well known for and someone would come and help me. I luckily never ended up in another life threatening situation with my condition, but the signal still helped save me from some potentially bad situations. Whoever answered the call of my signal would, in a way, be my real-life Spiderman in that moment. Funny enough, the one who always seemed to come to save me whenever I had another attack was my brother. So, I guess I can my brother a real life Spiderman. I've luckily recovered from my heart condition and am doing much better now, but I'll never forget how Spiderman's web shooter hand gesture helped me during such a scary time during my life.
