I suspect Hindemith got his hands on some Bartók scores or attended a concert where the Hungarian composer was among those featured. I can hear that influence in this 1922 piece.

I use Helicore Strings which are thinner to allow for quicker bow response along w/ a CodaBow Joule.

I am a 65 year old male retired professional violist and native of Kentucky. I heard you play once long long ago in 1974 with the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra. Then later met you at EKU in 1980, I believe. I once studied briefly with Trampler, Virginia Schneider, Burton Fine, Joe Ceo, Marcia Ferrito, Joe Pietropalo and others. I would have liked to study with you back then. Unfortunatelty, I lacked funds and became an Anglican and Catholic cathedral choirmaster and organist. I still practice 2 hours every day. I think of you often and especial like watching your video - THE ART OF BOWING! I have written and arranged many composition for viola.
