South MS Public Land Deer Hunt...8 point DOWN!!!
มุมมอง 4.3K7 ปีที่แล้ว
I attempted to self film this hunt and ended up missing the kill shot due to the deer catching me totally off guard. Also, my expectations were already low as another hunter came wandering through right during prime time, maybe 45 minutes before this buck came by. I should've known that it bothered me way more than it bothered the deer as the rut was in full swing. Anyway, this was great hunt o...

What about filling the tube with foam?
@@nosajstp..rr.2291 That might work but, personally, I'd rather stick with the stealth strips. I'm not sure foam would tame the metallic surface noise as much as I'd want.
The legs on my 200 and my 350 are 1 piece legs.
@@waynebizzle1334 Are they galvanized?
@@jbird2246 The legs on the 200 don’t look galvanized but the legs in the 350 do. I have hade the 200 for 5 years or so and just recently purchased the 350. The legs on the 20@ have some sort of coating on them that is peeling off.
Would you recommend this over the nomad bull lounger? I’m torn between the two
I'm not familiar at all with the Nomad so I can't honestly say. After using the Impact Pro for a full season, I can say that I really like it overall. And it's a deal for $99 at Rogerssportinggoods.com
@@jbird2246it’s out of stock. Probably a seasonal item
Chief upland turkey vest sales 8 or 10 seperate attatchments for there vest. They are also molle and the same pattern. They will work well for your vest.
Thanks, I'll check them out.
Good review Jbird22. I bought one and really like it. The seat sold me on it and love the seat while hunting. Like the extra pouch in the back below the game bag and the water bladder serves as a storage department. The hard front pouches are nice for push pull or pot calls. Overall like the vest.
Thanks Rob! I can honestly say that after hunting with it all season, the good far outweighs the bad. It's a really nice vest.
Where did you buy your stealth tape?
www.stealthoutdoors.com/
You would have no way to know, but I have the original jig built like your duplicate. Been building calls since the mid-nineties with it. Your jig appears to be an improvement. I build my calls, technically speaking, differently. I don't turn the jig on the side to place the frame in place and I seat the tab before removing from the jig. Otherwise, the process is similar. Good job and thanks for sharing.
If this is the Roger that I think it is, Scott is THE reason that I took an interest in building my own calls. I have to use youth frame calls and he is the first builder who ever took time building calls to suit me. The Jr Executioner 2 is still one of my favorites. I was very sad to hear of Scott's passing. I thoroughly enjoyed every phone conversation we ever had. Thanks for the comment and I'm certainly open to any pointers you'd be willing to offer!
I think you are loading up the game bag with rolls of snuff, boxes of cigarettes, and boxes of cigars. 😂-J/K!! Thanks for the in depth review. Those straps look nice compared to my Alps Grand Slam which I’m about to retire or put second in the lineup. Looking hard at this vest. I don’t carry a ton of calls and that stadium style seat looks comfortable and easy to deploy. Good luck in the Sip this spring. Wrapping it up here in Florida and heading to Georgia in a week to hopefully smash some late season Easterns .🍺👍🏻
Lol! Appreciate it! Good luck to you as well! It's a good buy for $99 at Rogerssportinggoods.com right now.
@@jbird2246Great price and free shipping. Thanks!
Have you figured out how to deploy the seat with out unbuckling the front of the vest?
No, I leave the chest buckle fastened but both bottom buckles are unbuckled when I drop the seat.
The stadium set is nice! I have used it twice and it works great!
Yes, the seat is very comfortable! It's my first vest with a stadium seat and it's an upgrade for sure. -- Rogerssportinggoods.com has on on sale for $99 right now.
How is the seat on it
Nice review. Appreciate you taking the time to answer my questions. I agree with the statements above. Double stitching and a few things you mentioned and they would last a long time.
Thanks for watching, Tom! One of your tube calls is always going to be in there!
My opinion, alps has just about the best vest design on the market… the biggest thing lacking on them, for me anyway, ykk zippers, and just double stitching. Little stuff like you mentioned splitting those huge pockets. I wonder sometimes if they know what they got - it just needs a few things to make it outstanding. I know everyone’s preferences are different, but for my taste, they’re generally the best design. Thanks for the review!
Yes, I like their vest designs. After using it more, they definitely need more molle pouch options. I have since removed the box call and thermacell pouches. My Thermacell kept going out in their pouch for some reason, but doesn't in mine. Like you mentioned, they just need to show a little more attention to detail. Overall, I'm happy with the vest and don't regret the purchase. I appreciate the comment!
Thanks for the in depth review! Nice to see all the different pouches and what could fit in them. I know you don’t seem to be 100% happy with it, but your review pushed me to buy one. Should have it in time for opening weekend here in GA.
I've used it more lately and can honestly say I'm happy with it. The seat is really nice.
Awesome vid and nice jig! Wish i had one.
You really can do a great job without one. I have a video up, if you're interested.

I just bought the same stand. Only mods I plan on making are switching out the ratchet strap with a versa strap and adding a bottom versa button to be able to add an additional versa strap. I currently hunt out of a Lone Wolf Alpha 2 which I like, but that's the only stand I have. I bought the Millenium to be able to hang it in some thicker areas I hunt ahead of time and secure it to the tree, so I have one less thing to lug in in the morning, and use the Lone Wolf for hang and hunts in easier access areas. I will say, the stand is light but it does not appear to be the stealthiest for running and gunning, between the ratchet strap as well as attaching the stand to the metal bracket. Also, the thought of having to attach the threaded pin to the bracket as well as the pin locking the stand in place to the bracket in the dark seems like a recipe for disaster. Hell, even in day light it could go south if you drop them. I'm planning on grabbing some extra in the event I do drop one, or both.
How do you the the feeder over all?
The feeder itself is fine, seems to be well-built. I don't think the deer use a gravity feeder as frequently as a spincast though.
@@jbird2246 I just got a used one, gravity. I set it out two days ago. Not deer yet.
@@papalou190 It probably took em around 7-10 days to start using mine. Be patient with it.
It obviously dampens noise on the location where strips are placed. What about the rest of the metal components that will still make noise??? The steps or tree brackets bump as they "pop" apart making plenty noise. I only see the stealth strips as a great addition if we cover every single visible piece of metal.
The steps and tree brackets make a little noise but the sound is lower pitched and doesn't resonate like the tubing. Also, the steps and brackets on the X2's come with a textured coating on them.
How many rolls did you need I just got the x2
I bought 1 large roll (4"x72") and have plenty left over to use on other gear.
When you put stealth strips on these sticks did you remove all the hardware?
Nope, just worked around it.
Will the lbc work on the lbc50 wad?
No, the CLBC jig is designed for the cushioned LBC wad. The shot cup is higher from the base of the CLBC wad than the LBC50. This would cause the slits to not be as deep for the LBC50.
@@jbird2246 do you have anything that would work with the lbc50 and the ctps wads

Does this work on 12ga. And 20ga
I make them for a variety of wads in 20, 16, and 12 ga. Each jig is designed for a specific wad for each gauge due to different wad dimensions. For example, a 20 ga VP90 jig is designed specifically for that wad. You'd need a different jig for a 20 ga CSD or a 20 ga TPS. Hope that helps!

Good test. Lot less noisy with the strips. People were griping about them not being able to connect sticks once Stealth Stripped. I figure you fixed it with a pretty easy solution.
Stealth stripes are worth every penny

Thank you! Hope to do an update video with new sticks pretty soon.
Are you using the hawk factory buttons with the 3/16 aimsteel rope mods???
Yes
Question!!!????? Wouldn’t you want your versa button bolt through n through the tubing vs halfway through???
It would probably make me more a little more comfortable if they went all the way through but it doesn't really bother me as is. It would only be possible on the top button though. The factory holes in the tube are staggered in the front and rear. There's no metal in the rear where there is in the front (and vice versa) where the bottom button is.
Sorry I keep talking I just don't understand why you'd want to make hanging the stand more complicated. I love the idea of putting the slide in bracket into place it makes life so much easier
To each their own brother. My time, my money, my choice I suppose. As I said in a reply above, I've hunted in an M60U for years with an XOP cam buckle attached to the block and it works great. My goal with this M7 was to make it as light as possible. Having used both, I can assure you that hanging this stand is not one bit more complicated than using the receiver.
@@jbird2246 u ever think about modifying the bar so u can level out the platform
@@andrewcarr5099 Yep, but don't plan to do that unless absolutely necessary. I'm fortunate to have pretty straight trees where I hunt.
Bro, he’s making the stand less complicated to hang doing this ! I don’t understand what you don’t understand? Have you ever hung any other loc on besides this one?
I understand not wanting to use the ratchet strap it's loud and a pain. You could of just replaced it with a cam buckle strap it's super strong been using it with a cam buckle strap for 3 seasons now. Once you toe hook it and cam it over it's solid as a lone wolf or xop. And you dont have to compromise the stand
See my 2 other replies to your comments.
So you toe hook the stand when it’s in the bracket with the cinch strap mod?
Just a quick question instead of doing the batwing and versa button why not just do what I did and use a cam buckle strap on the receiver instead of the ratchet strap. It's incredibly fast and easy and quiet to hang the stand and I toe hook it to set it just like any other stand. What are the advantages to these mods you did?
I have an M60 that I did that with. It works fine but just something I didn't want to hassle with on this setup. I wanted to keep it as light as possible and with minimal extra parts that weren't attached to the stand. As I told another guy in the comments, if I compromised this stand by drilling two 1/8" holes, then I was screwed from the jump. But, I'm fully confident in the structural integrity of the stand with these mods.
@@jbird2246 so other than the ratchet strap was there and other reason for the mods. I use an XOP cam strap on my tree bracket instead of the ratchet strap and it's super light and super strong
@@andrewcarr5099 Yes, I reduced the total weight of the stand by not having to carry the receiver block. It's also one less piece I have to keep up with.
The stands we hunted out of 40 years ago woulds scare the hell out of me nowl .lol. i went to the beast snd sticks...agsin did a great job on video..
OMG..alot of mods...Why not just buy a stand that was made and tested the way you liked..watch Dan Infalts stand video...alot and years of testing. Your life is on line when you strap that stand up to tree. Sorry , love the effort..but If it blows out a few extra bucks spent on stock stand might be worth it.
Dennis, it actually wasn't a lot of mods. Fitting the tree bracket properly was the most time consuming part. If adding a few 1/8" holes to a stand with numerous 1" holes is dangerous, then I was already doomed. The modifications were actually very minimal from a structural standpoint and all parts/hardware used were from other proven manufacturers. As far as safety is concerned, I'd never use it if I even remotely thought it was unsafe. Also, I'm very aware of Beast Gear products but they don't fit my budget. I'm sure Dan made plenty of mods to his stands along the way.
Because he’s prolly like me and ain’t spending $700 on a damn loc on ! That’s insane
