what's the cost for this assuming the same bike?
I'm glad you made this video. I won't start this at home.😅
Really love to see the current set ups! Great job!! Question. Did you cold set the rear axle width or is it already fit the 11 speed cassette?
@@ilhamhabibie215 it was already at 130mm spacing. Not sure if that was from when it was built or if someone before me had it re spaced 👍
@@biketailor Cool!! Thanks!
Very handy, thanks
Thanks for filming! I’ll keep myself to non intergrated bikes 😅
That bike came out with a black 3ttt Colnago stem and silver 3ttt handlebars.
Absolutely what all the ' cognocenti " have done in the past in Bristol to restomod their steel Pinarellos Colnagos and Tomasinis. Good choice.
Forgot to mention, back in the day, the 80s, when black stems and bars kind of came into vogue, it was not uncommon to see all silver groupset with a black cockpit. I don't remember many black seat posts except for the carbon Campy seat posts of the early 90s. I think American Classic had one back then. I never did this personally until just recently. I used a black 3ttt stem and bar combo with 11-speed carbon Campy SR controllers and and rear derailleur with the rest being silver 11-speed Athena. It came out great and is the only black stemmed bike I own.
looking good!! whats the weight.of this bike?
I am thinking I need to add a steel Colnago to my stable... Subscribed!
Cheers 🙏
I just finished watching your re-build of this bike to Athena and have to say, I could go either way - this setup here looks awesome. But all silver does as well but that's the easy way to do it. This build with the carbon parts is a bit more daring, and it works too.
Very nice! I just finished a restoration and build of an early '80s Picchio Special with 11-speed Campy, Super Record controllers and rear derailleur, with silver Athena front derailleur, brakes and crankset. Built up a set of wheels using 9-speed Record Titanium hubs and polished silver H Plus Sons Archetype rims, 25mm Conti GP5000 tires. I have used the 11-speed Athena components of two other builds, an '89 Pinarello Montello and '91 Zullo. The 11-speed Athena not only looks good but it functions almost as smoothly as Super Record. Thanks for the tip on setting up the Delta brake calipers. I'm going to try this technique on my Dura-Ace AX brakes as well!
Really needs a 7410 groupset to be right. Added bonus would be brakes that actually work!
The black looked terrible, sliver and alloy only on classic bikes
I'm now 70 and own a work of art. The frame is Serotta (1982) with Campagnolo, Dura Ace a Mavic crankset and a well-worn Brooks saddle. I wonder what will become of it when I pass. (has a really old Campi seat post - the most beautiful seat post ever!) I should probably sell it to someone who would appreciate it - rather than just die and let it fall into uncaring hands.
The same here. I got the grandis from 90-x on 8 speed record/chorus. Thinking that turning it to Modern group will be a distraction
Looks better now. I hope at some time the trend will go back to silver components. Or at least offer both... but I don't see that coming
Is is it for sale?
I hadn’t planned on selling it, but will consider offers. Send me an email at shop@biketailor.com
@@biketailor Probably way too high for me.

Hello, great Video! I have a question for you what kind of cushion you are using to the hose cables as you mentioned at (min 3:50). I'm building a BMC kaius as well and would like to know. Thank you!
Hey. I’m not actually sure what it’s called. I was given a whole lot of it from a distributor a while back. Most bikes will come with it. Essentially it’s just anything that is a foam to stop rattling. Good luck with the build
Beautiful. Bellísima!!!
Love the colour 👍
Me too!
Similar setup as my F. Moser, it has the same gen Chorus. Managed to pick up a 2003 Specialized with the same era Record groupo, haven't decided if moving it over will be a proper upgrade. Super Record would have been a different story.
Chorus and record and basically the same, so I’d say just keep the record for something else 👌
Rear mech cable much too long. Rear brake cable also. Otherwise nicely done.😊
There’s no chain on the bike, so the rear derailleur has no tension in it. Cable looks long, but will be just right with a chain on. Not sure what you mean with the rear brake?!
Beautiful bike
Cheers
Hi, I see from the video that the size of the bike is an S. I wanted to know how tall the owner/user is. Thank you
Hey, I can’t say. It was a while ago and the customer moved, so not sure his height.
@@biketailor Would you be able to contact him? Please?
Black crankset is a distraction. You asked for comments, nothing personal. Cheers.
Yeh, I’m thinking the same the more I’m with the bike. Probably will change it when I have a 10 speed chain and cassette. Cheers for the comment
I only do white tape and saddle on my bikes so kudos. The black bits looked really good, and im presently doing that on a DeRosa nearlybthe same blue….new build looks great, but makes the black Crankset a bit of an eyesore on an otherwise great looking setup
Thanks for the comment John. Im starting to feel that way about the crankset too. might swap over to the 10sp group soon. Your DeRosa sounds great!
Cool vid.
If you live in any decent sized town, there's usually a bolt supplies place that can supply you with stainless steel hex fasteners. I had to resort to the fastener shop as local bike shops did not stock spares themselves.
How many kg does the bike weigh? Can ultegra 8170 be installed?
Hi. I’m not sure on the weight, it’s pretty light though! And yes, Ultegra di2 would be possible 👍
Hey i'm looking exactly at this bike right now.
Its a lovely bike, seems like it'll be very versatile - capable of fast hardpack and also more technical terrain. For the current price its a good buy!
@@biketailor thx mate! I am almost at the point of just pulling the trigger. But I'm waiting on a 3k tarmac sl7 deal on fb marketplace rn lol...
Beautiful bike! Those brakes are a piece of art!
Yeh, I love them, functional art. Thanks for watching!
You are an absolute legend. Missing having coffee at your studio
Thanks Mike. Hopefully catch you soon!
Nice bike! I like the neoretro concept. In fact, I‘ve built something similar, classic 1970s steel frame with modern wheels and silver components.
Yeh, I had a different Colnago a while back that I built up with Campag Athena and it looked retro, but was 11sp and rode beautifully
Does the Force AXS crank work well with the 11 speed Force drivetrain?
It did, but when I had it on the piu it was running 12 speed
classic frame should have classic groupset
Haha, I knew I'd upset some people. Best part of a classic frame is how easy it is to work on and swap parts, so maybe ill start looking for a full Campagnolo C-Record groupset and swap it all over at some point. Thanks for watching.
nice vid! i feel very weird weather i like it or not
fair enough. aesthetics are a very personal thing. For me, the gumwalls and matching saddle/bartape with the downtube logo are what i love. It rides so smoothly and solidly. Loving it. Thanks for watching.
what is the size/measures of that tires?
I can’t remember, I think they were 700x40
;) have same brown frame) nice to see same colour )😊
What camera are you using? If you adjust the shutter speed you may be able to mitigate the flickering a bit.
I use my iPhone 12. Anyway to adjust that?
@@biketailor I don't think you can adjust the shutter speed...do you have florescent lights?
@@BrianMcDonald I think it’s an LED light. Hoping to get a dedicated camera soon, so that would have the shutter speed adjustment I guess
@@biketailor You could try shooting at 24fps to see if that stops the flicker in the meantime
@@BrianMcDonald Yeh, i found the setting, so ill try it next time!
Love this kind of video! Would be cool to get some shots of the actual change or work on the bike, although I know it might not be so easy to do!
Thanks for the comment. And, yeh, I would love to get more shots of me actually doing the work, but it is just me in there with my phone, so not possible yet. But, hoping to change that soon. Cheers
To me, this is a beautiful frame. These frames are very expensive from domesic sources here in the States but somewhat more reasonably priced from European sources. I wouldn't buy one here as I'd be concerned about dealing with any problems or needing replacement parts. Also, that seat wedge looks like generic, low-quality Chinese stuff which gives me pause.
Yep, they are very expensive. I wouldn’t think it would be too hard to source any replacement parts, I’m assuming there is a distributor wherever you are, or like you say, you could always get from Europe. As far as the seat wedge, yeh it’s pretty generic. Works ok, once in there, but I would have expected a more integrated solution for this frameset. Cheers for the comment
Nailed it, thanks Shaun, next build I'll be sure to bring ALL the parts =D
haha, nah, like i said, you did pretty well. Hard to account for every little thing. Most importantly, we got there and the bike is awesome. Thanks for bringing it in!
Trek emonda and prob all trks are a nightmare to build. Everything proprietary(bontranger).
@@zeaugusto8456 the newest treks are much more difficult for that reason, but this emonda was actually not a lot of propriety parts. Just missed a few shimano parts. All-in-all this build was pretty standard 👍
Is it possible to change the cockpit CP0018? And what about the extension bars? Which ones would you use for this bike?
Hi, im not familiar with CP0018? Can you point me to a page with the product?
@@biketailor Sorry, what I meant was, Canyon Aeroad CF SL has the CP0018 cockpit (as indicated on their website). Is it possible to change it to another one ?
@@KolotovGleb yeh for sure. You can change on this bike to any other stem/bar combo, but it’s 1 1/4, I believe
Nice work! Beautiful bike… How would you say the build quality of the bike and how it compares with the other mainstream ones like Giant and Specialized? I love the look of this bike but it’s so hard to find reviews online
Thanks for the comment. Build quality seemed good. Although I didn’t fully build the bike, so can’t say with a lot of confidence. Most high end bikes will be pretty good quality, it mainly will come down to your personal preferences. And, I think it’s important to find out what the after purchase customer service is like in your country - some distributors are better then others - should you have a warranty issue.
What a nice machine. Do you know which frame size it is?
It’s a big one - 58.
Thank you! Do you also know the dimensions of the bar/ stem, especially the declared stem length for reference?
@@daydreaming_aristocrat I think the stem length is 110mm, but I’m not 100% sure on that one.
Lovely build, great workmanship and care, keep it up
Thanks Dave, appreciate the support.
Hi, why did you remove the original BB (used for GRX crank)? Is this one not compatible with Ultegra crank? Or is it due to Rotor crank requiring different BB standard? Thank you!
Yes, these rotor cranks required a different BB
