Cómo extraño mucho Telefutura

They say that _Planeta U_ began in 1999. Wrong. This originally started on September 15, 2001. Coming from an archivist's point view, this really was an inappropriate moment to launch a children's block in the middle of a week of sorrow and grief that the country was facing. But the Fall television season had to move along, and this was Univisión's response. The network has aired different shows in the past, but this tops the list of monikers in its timeline of children's television programming.

I miss watching Plaza Sésamo on Planeta U on Saturday and Sunday mornings. Watching it on Telefutura wasn’t as good.

I remember Telemundo had Nickelodeon, Nick Jr shows, Dragon Ball Z, and Jumanji in Spanish.

In 1992, Telemundo's first foray into children's programming, Telemuñequitos, was in partnership with Warner Bros., and featured Spanish-language dubs of Warner Bros. Cartoons productions. This lasted for 6 years.

On September 15, 1998, Telemundo entered into a programming agreement with Nickelodeon to carry the cable channel's programming as part of a morning children's program block, "Nickelodeon en Telemundo" ("Nickelodeon on Telemundo"). The block, which debuted November 9, 1998, Telemundo introduced a daily block of Spanish dubs of Nickelodeon's series (such as Doug, Rugrats, Aaahh!!! Real Monsters, Hey Arnold!, Rocko's Modern Life, AAAHH!!! Real Monsters, and Blue's Clues); the weekday edition of Nickelodeon en Telemundo were changed the schedule, it was relegated to Saturday and Sunday mornings from 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. ET/PT, in order to accommodate a time slot for Hoy En El Mundo (or Esta Manana) with hosting by Jose Diaz-Balart. The block ran 2 years until September 5, 2000, when it was relegated to weekends in order to make room for the morning news program Hoy En El Mundo; Nickelodeon's contract with Telemundo ended in November 2001, after the network was acquired by NBC.
