Fixing the erosion at the rivers edge
Fixing the erosion at the rivers edge
Two Women and Tools is a funny channel about two women working with tools renovating, repairing, working on fixer uppers, homes, and on several different projects. Looking at the lighter side of projects, we are here to help make your job easier, doable and less daungting. Perfect for anyone who wants to try new things but may be intimidated. Let us show you how!
However some of the projects we take on require outside help, heavy lifing and major build steps. So instead of not including those parts of the project I have included those steps-episodes. In any event the knowledge and planning of those episodes is something we are fully involved in.

Might I suggest the area that only has a few bags of concrete, to get bags of 1-2” gravel and pea gravel and dump on top so it can filter down to fill gaps. Using different sizes will help them to wedge against each other making it stronger. You girls rock!

With respect I kindly suggest that Pieces of sharp metal should really be taken out of the water instead of a flat piece of sharp metal put into the River to float down. That could really hurt someone swimming in the river and hit that. Please encourage your helpers to remove those items from the River, unlike tree parts and natural elements that can rot and deteriorate. That sheet metal they let go into the water will be around for a long time. And goes to a better clean up of your River. Thank you for all the help and encouragement of restoring this area.

Not to be mean or anything but them at that bridge cleaning debri, what was the point of that the bridge has to be rebuilt and a piece of equipment would make quick work of that in an hour with 4 dump truck loads and all these people cutting and clearing trees by the river in the woods, again no reason for that, that I see could have been clearing roads or house sites and setting up wall tent for temporary housing for this winter.

Unfortunately, it’s not just the area around each tree trunk that needs to be cleared to save the tree. The problem is the roots suffocate since they are buried much deeper than they originally grew. The root zone of a tree spreads a long way from the base. A general estimate is the spread is as wide as the tree is tall. You definitely need machinery to clear that much. Wish I could help. (Retired forester)

I have watched many of your videos after H. Helene. Not clear as to why there are so many rocks. Did the flood wash away the top soil and in the force of the water, washed topsoil away leaving so many exposed rocks or did the force of the water bring in more rocks than normal! I live in Daphne AL and am so sorry this occurred to any one in the path of that hurricane! This will be an ongoing burden for you and your sister!

    • @I-build-crafts

Thank you for your support and subscription. It is very appreciated. The rocks came down from the mountain on the other side of the road. I have a property that covers both sides of the river. The river flooded, but we didn't get the stones from the river. they came from the mountain, which had a major landslide and brought down trees and rocks and mud. It's been a very catastrophic event to the land. We got hit on both sides.

Oh some teal blue resin to fill, those holes with some small stones circling the hole would make a cool table! Total boat resin is awesome for those kinds of outdoor epoxy projects! You could even build a frame for a large picnic table using many of those cookies for the table top supported by resin and a plywood base. Oh have you made a wish list for your supporters for tools or fund raising to donate to the excavator rental? STIHL chainsaw 21” should be on that wish list! I know everything you gals are doing is mostly recovering from the disaster (so overwhelming)but remember to play and be creative in all the rebuilding. It’s good for the soul, settles the mind, fills the ❤️ love how the cabin is coming along. Your passion for the land is so strong and greatly appreciated. I wish I lived closer to East Tennessee and West North Carolina. I would love to start a volunteer group just to get everyone together and work for the common good of the community by handing out trash bags, kinda like adopt a highway but in this case adopt a river.
