Making a Latte on the Gaggia Classic Pro
มุมมอง 23K4 ปีที่แล้ว
This video is quite old and my whole setup was not great. Take this with a grain of salt and you should not use this as a reference point to using the Gaggia Classic Pro. I made this when I first got that machine and had not learned the hacks to temperature surf on it yet, or even espresso basics. Watch this as a reference for what not to do! Thanks!

    Are you using the 2 hole steam tip and what temp is your steam set to? I've been expirementing with the 4 hole tip amd am finding it is too aggressive. You have to be spot on from start to finish since you only get about 10 secs total before milk heats up especially with oat milk. I've tried reducing to 125° C but thinking 135° C with 2 hole is the way to go.

    • @QuinCarter
      @QuinCarter 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hey there! I'm using the 2 hole tip in this video. I have since moved to the 4 hole tip. It does take quite a bit more practice to get the 4 hole tip perfect. But I have enjoyed the speed thus far. My temp in this video for the service boiler is like 270° F or 132° C. I just did a reset to factory and I've noticed that my recovery is less with the factory setting of like 253° F or 122° C. It doesn't lose steam as often and recovers faster. I get less initial power but it's more consistent.

    • @QuinCarter
      @QuinCarter 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Because that purges the the ultra hot water that is sitting in the boiler. Otherwise, the next time you brew, you could end up brewing way too hot. The steam pressure has to build up to be greater than what you would normally get with brewing. It's completely variable because there's no PID on the stock machine. So you have to do that in order to keep the temperature stability at Bay

    Hey can you clarify, do you need to heat the steam boiler before emptying or just empty it then switch on the steam boiler to heat? Cheers

    • @QuinCarter
      @QuinCarter ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah hey no problem! So the GCP is actually a single boiler machine. In order to perform this hack, you essentially purge everything and then you let the steam temperature heat up to a point where it doesn't think it ever finishes heating. Then you get pretty consistent steam pressure without losing any steam power because it just keeps heating up. This is called temperature surfing. I hope that helps. Did that help answer your question?

    7 minutes for 1 cup, ridiculous.. 5 friends went to sleep waiting half an hour for their cup. the main bianca dual boiler advantage left and is not used for steaming and brewing at the same time. Great video, Im looking at a V3, always good to have a birthday. How hard is it to configure a low profile shot, for example 5 sec pre soak, 5 sec bloom, x secs 4 bar, x secs 10 bar etc...

    • @QuinCarter
      @QuinCarter 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey there! Thanks for watching! So there isn't any programming for the entire shot time. You can do stuff with the flow control paddle and adjust the pressure and Flow during the shot. There is an option in the lelit control panel to set up some kind of pre-infusion, but you can do it manually with the flow control paddle with a little more control. Hope this helps!

    Hi Quin! Great video. Loved watching your whole process. Just a tip I wanted to share on stretching the oat milk. Oat milk could lose its flavor and sweetness when heated too much so you should stay at or below 130-135 F (best temp for Oat milk) when possible. Also, when steaming, if the goal is lets say 135 F, you want to stop the steaming at 130F because there is a temperature "momentum" that takes place. Basically, when you stop steaming at 130F, the temperature of the oat milk (and regular milk also) in the pitcher will continue to rise 3-5 F so you want to stop short of the goal temp. I say this because I see in the video that you steamed the oat milk up to 140F which means the temp reached around 143-145F when you poured into the espresso.

    almost same setup here. Lelit Bianca v3, VST basket 20 gr on the portafilter. I always use the double spout, cause I hate dirt in the machine 😆 Why don't you place the funnel on the portafilter before scaling, and keep the funnel on while receiving the coffee under the grinder. It might help avoid this 1:32

    • @QuinCarter
      @QuinCarter 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for watching!! Haha so yeah you make a great point. That funnel sits too high to use the button on the Atom 75 if it's attached to the portafilter. I have tried to use it before, and I don't make a mess most days. Also I use a chest mount camera when I record these -- it kind of gets in my way/I end up staring at it when I'm working with it on and tend to make a mess. 🤣 I haven't used the double spout much. It's just me and my wife that drink coffee in my house. And this: c.tenor.com/jguP3vAjdX8AAAAM/matt-le-blanc-joey.gif (we are both pretty greedy with our shots and the amount, so splitting a shot is out of the question 🤣🤣)

      Lol to each their own! I've enjoyed it. It's been a journey finding out I'm lactose intolerant in my 30s. I've found out a lot about my diet in the last few months. Oat definitely tastes better to me than Almond. I still drink lactose free whole milk too. That's probably my favorite. Oat is just a cool challenge with latte art!

    How much do you wash the cloth you use to clean the foaming nozzle? Just curious. I used to take care of my little sister and clothes with milk on it smells nasty within hours. Maybe the heat changes things and you get to use them for a couple of days, or do you wash it every day, or do you have a few of those and throw them in the laundry machine all at once at the end of the week?
