Ring of Red Part 34 Dora Dora Dora
We continue north and catch up with the Dora Gustaf, which won't really do anything in battle until we attack it, so I just ignore it for now. We also learn that John's secret mission is to destroy the Dora, which is why he was so interested in oversized 4-leg AFWs

Wait, what's this Walk/Run Challenge? At first I thought it was some LotR game, but it's something irl?
About Minotaur II, III, IV and Hornet II, III, IV you are wrong but you will see it yourself and Hornet II is obtainable only in Elsa Story late game. But there are some weapons like a rifle that fires two times for 6 AP and a range of 6 (not same mechanic as Ziege), a melee that attacks two times, what else? The thing is those weapons deal only a minimum damage of 1. Still couldnt figure out the damage modifier yet unfortunatly .
@@leonstarkwryt5254 The video has t come out yet but I already cheated them into the game and found that they’re incomplete. The other Minotaur arms only fire 1 shot. There is a Hornet that fires two shots but I didn’t try it in battle.
26:50 my favorite track in this game's OST. Really heroic and thrilling.
One of the things I liked about this game was it had day/night on certain maps, and different weather (like how it’s raining in this video)
@@daceyjenton1548 The time change is a neat mechanic same with the weather. I like how the rain drops show up on the screen. The weather also has an effect on the sensor backpacks.
2 minutes silence for all the soldiers lost in this battle, especially the green ones ...
@@LuckyLenghe Irreplaceable people lost forever, and because I wasn’t thinking I didn’t capture the bases to get a green soldier on this map.
18:00 this game is definitely pretty niche. I enjoy watching it though because I was curious about this game for a long time.
I’m only a few missions away from finishing the game. The three for next week are the last I have recorded. There’s only 4 missions left and if they’re like the last one at 4 videos long it’ll be early March when it’s done.
You have been use left hand at the Elsa. Why is it?.
The new movies were made to kill off the faces of the original trilogy.
@@daceyjenton1548 the new writers can’t come up with good characters on their own so they make copies of existing characters and then have the new ones be better than the old in every way to replace them.
Must admit I never got into Star Wars. The sentiment of pretending the prequels don't exist is so common, I'm actually curious how bad they could possibly be.
@@LuckyLenghe The first three movies are old from the 70s and they’re classics. The prequel trilogy was 1999-2005. Imo only the Phantom Menace wasn’t good and if you skip some parts of the movie it can be redeemed. The new Disney trilogy is bad and not worth watching. When I joke about there only being 6 movies I’m saying the Disney ones don’t count.
@jeroti187 Oh I thought people were talking about the Disney movies when they mentioned "prequel trilogy". I've seen the six movies you mentioned, just found them unimpressive. The only entertainment I've got from Star Wars is the TH-cam videos making fun of The Acolyte 🤣🤣

@@NurJanah-c2c The footage was corrupted and I didn’t have a save to go back and do it. It was mentioned at the beginning of episode 11.
The loss of the mission 14 footage also makes your recap of it at the beginning of this episode much funnier
Honestly it’s a bit of a blessing in disguise. I played that mission very safe so it took a long time to finish. It would have been kinda boring to watch be slowly pick each guy apart taking 1-2 shots hoping for a leg hit then using snipe to take care of the legs. No links since I didn’t want to take the risk of killing someone before I was ready.
Sucks about mission 14, but this series is great

I was still sick when I recorded this batch of videos. So sometimes I cough or sneeze and I cut that out. The video I recorded that had the simulator and the next battle in it was pretty long so I took out the simulator and added it to a video that was shorter to even out the time. I’m trying to keep the video length to a reasonable and more consistent length.
In that mission i always run away from Wagner with Elsa and Bosch and regroup with the others and let Wagner chase us and then crush him with the link group united.
@@leonstarkwryt5254 I like the idea of Elsa and Bosch fighting him alone to show that he’s not as dangerous as the game wants you to think he is. Falling back to regroup is probably the better strategy though.
You might wanna link everyone (support attack/defence) with Hermes or Chaeffer for AP bonuus. If everyone has AP II bonus equipped and linked with everyone then every attack will cost 6 AP less.
@@leonstarkwryt5254 I like doing two groups of 3 so I can split up to take care of early simulator objectives easier.
40:08 This is one of the things I liked about Front Mission 3. Having only four mechs out meant missions were relatively quick.

I take it you've also hacked in the endgame power backpack, because no early game wanzer can bear the sheer weight of the beam gun.
@@jackylee5850 I changed the starter parts to weigh nothing. Once you have access to the first store you can use a mix of parts to equip the beam gun. It weighs 127 which is only 46 more than the first missile launcher.
Modified the weight huh, that's one way to go about it I guess. I tried something similar once, increased the number of machinegun shots from 10 to 30-40, and it was more than enough to scrap any enemy. Tried it with shotgun too, and it works just as well, although it has a higher chance of crashing the game since it was never meant to fire more rounds than it should, the game likely can't handle registering a burst of 60 rounds from a single shotgun blast.
@ I’ve been messing around to try and get a cannon, but so far I haven’t had any luck.
If you mean the cannon from a tank, it doesn't even have a model for a wanzer to equip. Those giant Kexi near the end of the game does have a rifle sized cannon, but again that isn't meant for the average wanzer to wield. God knows how the game will flip out when you equip stuff that it's not meant for.
@ I downloaded a save off the FM3 Reload Discord that had a hacked shoulder weapon that was a cannon using a grenade launcher model. I’ve tried to do something similar, but it just crashes the game.
When I see a sentence like "severe damage has been caused" I feel bad for the folks that translated this. They probably just got handed an Excel spreadsheet and were told to go nuts, not given the proper context of that line. In the middle of a goddamned mech battle, people definitely wouldn't be using passive voice, but it's used quite often in written Japanese. It's kind of crazy that this game got localized at all, though. I'm really enjoying this series.
@@daceyjenton1548 I wonder if the decision to release outside of Japan was made late in development so the localizations were rushed. Sony may have pushed Konami for an international release to help beef up the number of games out around the launch of the PS2.
I think repair backpacks were a bad addition to Front Mission 4, but I do approve of all the other weird backpacks they introduced like the EMP and Jetpack.
@@daceyjenton1548 I don’t mind the repair backpacks. They wanted a faster paced game than FM3 and the repair backpacks let them do that. With the number of enemies you’d have a lot of turns where you’re not attacking and just using items to stay alive.
This was a secret mission on the FM4 demo disc. I played and re-played the shit out of this mission on that disc.
the bridge mission (2nd mission in this video) was the final mission on the FM4 demo disc that S-E released. They only sent it if you e-mailed them and asked for it, some really limited promotion. After clearing it, there was a hidden option (you had to go into the demo disc's menu and press UP, to select something that was hidden from view) to do the castle mission. I did that mission over and over and over while waiting for FM4 to come out.
@@daceyjenton1548 I never knew that. I haven’t played the demo I got the game shortly after it released.
@@jeroti187 The demo disc was the first few missions of each campaign, but with the story segments in between removed and no wanzer customization. I think I played it almost as much as I played the actual game, I was so blown away by how good the wanzers looked compared with 3.

Your mic sounds a lot clearer in this recording.
I was mostly recovered from my cold while recording this so I could talk a bit louder and for a longer time without coughing, which helped a lot. Unfortunately the game volume is really high compared to my voice so when the music is loud in game it overwhelms my voice. It should be better balanced in the next recording.

Why are you use weapon at the right hand?. Right hand it's so good.
@@NurJanah-c2c It doesn’t make a difference which hand the weapon is in. I just picked a hand and kept it the same for everyone.
Hellyeah i recomended this. I like doing Bazooka only. One attack but deals punch AND (guaranteed) explosion damage, Two for one. Also two lightest arms (usualy -30%hit) works better than expected.
We won't get any bazooka skill levels until the computer shop opens up, so I'm using the high accuracy arms to make up for it a bit. I've recorded two more episodes and I've noticed the damage has a big range. When I get a 3 person link and everyone gets a direct hit the damage is really impressive, but if everyone misses and all I get is the fire damage then it's not that great especially if the enemy has fire armor. The real problem is the quick dodgy guys who evade a lot. They waste my limited ammo and the 6 AP.
11:32 very proud of your pronunciation of "vahn-ser" here
I'll probably say it wrong about half the time like the last FM4 play through.

This is sure to be a.. Blast! Compared with FM3 Beams Only
Hopefully it'll be some explosive entertainment.
21:20 I can think of a few reasons why they'd use bolt-action rifles instead of machine guns. Saving ammo, the soldiers are already trained on rifles and rifles are more accurate at longer distances
I looked up what was used in Vietnam and the US was supplying them with mostly M1 Garand, M1 Carbine and M14 rifle. The game takes place during that time period so the infantry weapons should be similar. Looking at the weapons in the game I think the rifle is likely the M1 Grand or M1 Carbine.
One hell of playthroughs on both scenarios, keep em comin, btw would you be playing the ''remake'' as well?
@@kittimaichue4428 Thanks. I’ll probably get the remake on switch, but I don’t have a capture card so I won’t be able to record a play through until it comes out on PC. Nice to see this playthrough getting decent views. Looks like the videos start getting view only after a couple days of publishing, because whenever I watch them like a day or 12 hours after release, they hardly have any views. It's the opposite for me, all the views on the first day and hardly any after.
It's weird I but it works. Maybe the people who watch are like me and have a big queue in my watch later so it's often 1-2 days before I get to a video. I've had my own video show up in my recommended before so maybe it takes a bit before I get some traction. From what I understand it's more common to get a burst of views to start then they taper off like you experience instead of a slow burn like I have going on.

Theoreticly if you use some HEX codes ( a.k.a. cheat codes ) in FM4 you could have any parts you want in the Denmark mission where you have the wanzer setup unlocked and you can build your Wanzers the way you want, including early game Bazookas to protect your transport.
@@leonstarkwryt5254 I don’t like messing with that stuff too much. It’s a pain to search up the item codes for each pilot to get the bazooka. I definitely don’t want to use a code that adds every item to my inventory either. The beams worked out great because I could just use a code to force the inferno dialer to appear and then call as much as I needed to get all the beams I want. If there was a code to unlock all of the shops on the computer I’d do that. Those kind of codes usually stop working if you load a save with them off. So I could buy a bunch of bazookas equip them then load the save with the code off. I’ll try and see if I can find something like that.
@@leonstarkwryt5254 Looking into it a bit, I think I could use a code to have 99 of the first bazooka you can buy in my inventory at the start of the game. Then I could equip them after the setup menu becomes available.
Now that I've spent a bunch of time figuring it out I finally got something to work, but it's a real hassle to do. I'll have to start a new game on a different emulator so I can load a codebreaker disk first, and use a code to have 99 of the first bazooka. Once I play until I get the setup screen I can equip the bazooka and save the game. I'll probably have to play until I get the USN setup screen too. Once the code is off I should still have all the bazookas in my inventory. Then I can save the game and convert that memory card into a format for the main emulator I use. The main emulator isn't accepting the cheats no matter what I do and the old emulator I have makes the game look and run like garbage, so I don't want to use it for the challenge.
Fast attack with beam guns works only if you attack a melee opponent with a beam gun. All other enemy weapons are priotizied to attack first over beam guns, so fast attack doesnt work well with beam guns. Fast attack works only if you attack first wich beam guns are the second priotizied weapons after melee Weapons if that makes any sense. That said Pistols from Pilots always attack first over any other wanzer weapons.
@@leonstarkwryt5254 I figured the negative priority of the beams would be a problem for fast attack. I wonder if it would work if I pared it with initiative to force the beam to go first.
