Dear William, I'm so happy I found you video as I'm a tad bit panicked. I am not a native speaker as I'm from Hungary, but I have my C1 level language exam + my masters degree in teaching English (I'm licensed/certified by the global standards) + a 120-hour TEFL certificate + I am 24, just graduated from uni. It's my only wish to teach English in Beijing, but I was told that I can only teach subjects like Science, History etc, not ESL with my non-native background. What do you think, what are my chances in Beijing with the things listed? I really wish someone like you who is experienced could help me out with a second opinion.🙏 Maybe I also have to mention that we are planning to get married with my Chinese boyfriend once we're there, I'm not sure whether it would come up during an interview.

True sometimes they don’t care about the stickers😂😂😂 I know what you’re talking about 😅 And yes, there is a language barrier. So honestly it’s a tricky position, but I think the school should have a disciplinary measure where it’s communicated with the kids in a language they understand that if they misbehave in classes they won’t get play time something like that and if they behave this will be the reward. And as an ESL teacher you must be fun for the kids and the truth is it’s challenging to balance being fun and being strict, so I just think if you try managing in a calm and fun way and it doesn’t work, the Chinese teachers should handle keeping the kids in order. Remember it doesn’t matter if the kids don’t like the Chinese teacher, but as a foreign teacher the kids must like you.

Hi, can I please ask that when teaching at kindergarten is there always a Chinese teacher there to assist with keeping the students in order if they get out of control? Honestly in my experience, they don’t listen to me, but when the Chinese teachers address them they stay in order😂.
