Wow that been over 8 years ago I saw this show. My daughter loved it although I did lose the original video with the "oh wow" "oh look" cuteness from mini me in the background. Need a trip back here soon xx

feel how the ts 2000 blows....
Since you were concentrating on the s meter as proof of something then you should know that the 2000 has to be run in pre amp on mode for a correct reading s meter reading. The ts 2000 isn't receive eqed properly from the factory in my opinion. It has a very rumbley low end with the factory receive eq. All of that can be changed using the USER Function in the menu and Kenwood software for both transmit and receive independently. Neither radio can come close to an SDR Radio.
You should READ the user manual and LEARN to use the transceivers ! Default settings for the TS2000 has the "pre" engaged and for the TS480 not. In this stock configuration both transceivers work rightly with the same sensibility and now you can compare them. On the TS2000 the "Pre" is not a PREAMP, it works like the old AIP on the TS850-950 series. So, Pre ON = normal receiver, Pre OFF is like AIP ON: advanced intercept point = better rejection at the intermodulation. See the circuit diagram if you have doubts. Kenwood has done a lot of confusion about this "pre" label ! Cheers
Thank best explanation yours here ! 👍
This is NOT a surprise but the 775DSP can't compare to the TS-2000 on VHF & UHF since that is where the TS-2000 really shines & the 775DSP can't even go on transmit or receive. Guess that makes the KENWOOD TS-2000 the hands down WINNER on those bands in any mode. LOL
Go to VHF & UHF SSB & compare them. Oh that's right the TS-590 will NOT go to either. I guess the TS-2000 receiver & transmitter is far SUPERIOR to the TS-590 on BOTH of those bands & it's not even close. LOL {:>) Now that's FUNNY right there. hehe haha LOL
The 480 is a far better HF Transceiver but it can’t do 2 meters,440 MHz,or 1.2gig without a transverter.
Thanks’ for that video. How a transceiver A/B comparison becomes more useful? 1. Use on each transceiver, external, equal loudspeaker. 2. Switch each 5 second, between transceiver A and B. 3. Switch fast, between A/B (no gaps) use antenna switch. 4. Switch during the same station is talking. 5. Don't talk yourself during the test. 6. Use the same settings on each transceiver (BW, GAIN, FILTER...) 7. Cut out on the video, search stations. 8. Don’t look only on strong stations. 9. Write the mode for this video in the content; SSB; CW.... 10. Use the same Antenna. 11. Use an Antenna switch. Maybe you find some more useful settings? Best Regards Mark
Saludos señor Rodrigo, muy bueno su reportaje 73!!!
love my ts2000 but others are right turn the pre amp on
How a transciever A/B comparison becomes more usefull? 1. Use external equal loudspeaker on each transciever. 2. Use a Antenne switch. 3. Switch each 5 sekund between A and B transciever. 4. Switch during a station is talking, 5. Use the same settings on each transciever (BW, GAIN, FILTER...) 6. Don't talk yourself during the test. 7. Cut out the searching stations on the video. 8. Write in the content, is this video for SSB; CW.... May be you find some more facts? Best Regards Mark
no preamp idiot !
rob b no preamp on either so now who is the real Idiot? LOL 😂
IDK man I put my uncle's TS-480 against my 2014 TS-2000 right out of the box when i got it and they where the same... some thing is not right with your 2000... if his 480 did that to mine i would have sent it back and got a TS-590SG
Manuel Gallo C. ,, Can you write what you said in English. Thanks
the 775 have the second vfo open... is no good. if you see there are two green led on the front , only one must be in on...this is not a good comparision... the 775 is a silent hf radio can't be compared with ts 2000... i have the 7300 and 590 but icom 775 is ever best
775 is much clearer than the 2000.
I would never buy a ts2000. Thumb down to this sad radio.
rob b both radios had the preamp OFF GENIUS.
@@1OFGODSOWN They are different radios and use Pre amp in different ways
The TS2000 is designed to have the pre amp ON on hf .so your video is meaningless.
Ron j The TS-2000 is Deaf on all bands without the preamp just FYI.
IC-775DSP kills the TS-2000. Matter of fact the IC-775DSP will beat about 90% of radio's out there today. If you haven't owned one you have know idea how the 775DSP works. You go threw the manual and setup the DSP for receive it will kill almost all radio's.. this radio was way a head of it's time. My friend who has been a ham for 40 years can't believe the receive. It kills his IC-756proIII. He still can't get over it.. YOU have to know how to use the DSP in that rig. I know I have 2 of them..
TS-2000 winner!
You should get your ears checked before you go completely deaf. Not even close with the ICOM 775 DSP being the clear WINNER!
the ts 2000 is deaf without the pre amp.it would have doubled with the pre on.i never turn mine off.i have had 2 ts 2000 pre amp must always be on.but that 9 would have been twice the icom signal if pre smp was turned on 2000
Sorry but for this kind of tests you should know your radios better. The TS-2000 for HF should have the pre-amp on, thats the way the radio is designed. For V/U its should be normally off. Google it. 73
Luís Lapão The TS-2000 is Deaf on all bands without the preamp.
Is this the same radio as the 480 test? Have you had the 2000 repaired? They have a known problem in the filters. Kenwood allowed a dc voltage on the filters when they were not supposed to. I've had two and both have gone deaf after a few years of use.
I'm guessing the 2000 hasn't had the filter modification done yet. I've had two of these TS 2000's radios and both degraded over time to the point that the receiver wasn't working well at all. This is what appears to be happening here too.
Turn on the PREAMP on TS2000!
Better to compare similar RTX, a desktop model full of options and filters cannot compete vs a portable with a limited equipment. So I 'd be curious to see a review of both rigs with similar filters activated, specially in poor propagation conditions.
Turn on the PREAMP on TS2000!
I had a TS2000 and I thought it was deaf compared to my FTDX3000, I thought maybe something was wrong and had it serviced, But just deaf compared to my FTDX3000. Sold it and bought a Flex3000 but still think the FTDX3000 is better.
DJ Caverna Haroldo NETO Concordo plenamente!
The test it´s without pre amp in BOTH radios, If the reception in the TS-2000 is better with this, the TS-480 it´s better too..... If you don´t want to see the reallity, it´s not my problem. best regards
You do have a License do you ? Or it's a Miracle u passed a test without any technical understanding. Kind Regards.
Phil Müller preamp was OFF on BOTH radios so what part did he have issues with?
Turn the preamp on! The TS-2000 have ah good RX
What's the song at 1:25 called??
I absolutely love my TS-2000 but if I didn't have a need for an all-band radio I would definitely have bought the TS-590. Unlike many people out there, I cannot afford *both* so I bought the TS-2000 which is a fantastic transceiver. You work with what you've got :)
when TS2000 have damaged 455 filter, its reception become be lower. Bacause this we see many videos compairing its reception. Off course it is false, and it is weak knowledge of their peaple that compair falty equipment. When TS2000 is with real specifications, it is alost same each other radio.
Forgive me, but your TS2000 is faulty. After 2009, Kenwood currects the fails and now radio is other, far away better than your shown.
The TS-2000 is one of those radio's where you *MUST* have the pre-amp on for the receiver to be worth a damn. It shouldn't be that way but that's the way it is with this particular model. Once the pre-amp is activated it does a pretty damn good job of receiving but with out the pre-amp on it's like having a permanently attenuated radio.. I agree the TS-2000 isn't the best HF receiver sold today but once properly configured it actually does a very good job given all it can do, but if the HF band is your one and only love then I strongly recommend buying another model because this rig *won't* be for you.
The 590 is better but you don't get the vhf uhf 6 meters bands. Thats many bands not to get.. But if you want the best HF for the money the TS-590 is hard to beat. I like having all the bands and the high power on 2 and 440.
o KENWOOD TS-2000 é mais surdo que o TS 480SAT!
I wish my TS-480HX >NR< worked that well!
TS-590S-best!
Having had me ts-2000 for a few weeks now I can say that the rx is just as good as the 480. For me the2000 is a better radio and I am very happy.
It is. But the problem is when you give the people PREAMP button and don't teach them how to set the radio right.
Boris Tudjan both have the preamp OFF?
@@1OFGODSOWN I wonder why no test with both preamps on ??
Turn the preamp on!
Boris Tudjan on which radio since both are turned OFF?
Hello sheridan, the dsp of the ts-2000 it's better but the receiver not! The ts480 is grear for the pricw. The really better it's th ts-590
I do have a 480hx and have ordered a 2000.
I just dont understand. The 2000 should be just as good if not better than the 480 considering the price. On paper the 2000 is just as good on RX.
i did a comparison with my uncle's 480 & my TS-2000 and it was the same...
ts 2000 champion
You should get your ears checked before you go completely deaf. Not even close with the ICOM 775 DSP being the clear WINNER! Maybe you need a Hearing Ear Dog? LOL Now on VHF & UHF YES the TS-2000 is a hands down WINNER over the IC-775DSP.
Why do all these videos have the RX passband narrower on the TS2000 than the TS590? If you narrow down the passband on the TS590 you'd see at least a 6dB drop in signal.
Very interesting, Wich kind of led lamp have you used?
