Ehh, some of the changes actually made the movies better, like the lighter saber effects for A New Hope, or the Victory Celebration over Yub Nub, I do prefer Lapti Nek though.
I'd love for that to happen, but Disney didn't include the original versions of _The Lion King_, _Beauty and the Beast_, and _Fantasia_ on their respective DVD and Blu-Ray releases...
Fox owns the distribution rights to Episode IV forever. So there could be a problem there, if they don't agree to some sort of agreement where everyone's happy.
They are transfers from 1993, with aspect ratio issues and motion smearing. In other words, they are very low quality, and fans were annoyed that Lucasfilm couldn't be bothered to restore the films properly.
LesterLeapsIn1 As long as Han Shoots First and there are no CGI shots on Tatooine, I don't see what the huge deal is. I guess if you want the original trilogy unaltered, you'll have to break into Disney HQ.
Star Wars Unaltered Trilogy: The most valuable DVDs of all time! Getting all 3 unaltered versions is the holy grail of all DVDs! I understand they were laserdisc transfers, but who fucking cares! All I care is that I finally own the Unaltered Versions on DVD! They are the greatest DVDs I've ever bought!!!!!
Me too. Of course It would be awesome if they did eventually release the unaltered versions on either Blu-ray, 4K or any modern format. But if they never will, I'm happy to stick with my Limited Edition DVD copies too.
All I really wanted was the original Star Wars (No, i'm not calling it A New Hope). I really didn't care about the unaltered version, although ever since then i've always watched the unaltered version over the edited version. If you want all 3, get the Blu-ray. I'll buy the original on Blu-ray once it's released separately.
Does anyone have the tv commercials that aired around the release of this set. It was just an older man talking about how he could show his kids the movies and included a short clip of how they will include the original theatrical versions (like this video). I thought it was cool because it didn't feature a lot of action scenes from the movies, it was just a simple video from a guy's house.
Thanks to share of rest of the fanatics of Star Wars who can't pay the registration in Hyperspace this Ad of the OT Star Wars on DVD. I can't wait to receive the DVD original trilogy
I want to see a higher quality version of this trailer one day or maybe a remaster of it if possible.
letterboxed non anamorphic shm
The only time the non-special editions were officially released on digital. I'm lucky to own all three of them.

It's not the original theatrical version it's the laser disk version
Well, those were made from copies of the original theatrical versions.
@@elwoodjacobs4353 no because the laserdisc had the remastered sound
This trailer contains a spoiler. You have been warned.

Wow Lucas one day after 9/11

Coming soon...Disney will release the unaltered versions on bluray just in time for force awakens. The special editions for HD make it look worse.
I'd love for that to happen, but Disney didn't include the original versions of _The Lion King_, _Beauty and the Beast_, and _Fantasia_ on their respective DVD and Blu-Ray releases...
+Justin Fencsak That most likely won't happen until after 2020, because until then, Fox still own the distribution rights to the first 3 movies.

Also Rupert Murdoch has complete control
@@hawk494edward I would have loved it if FOX bought LucasFilm back.
Can someone PLEASE explain to me what the problem is with the original unaltered trilogy on these discs???

Look for the de-specialized editions. They are the best quality of the unaltered trilogy available on DVD and blu-ray
That might be never.
Fuck you, George Lucas. I've got the AVCHD Despecialized Editions. Take that!

Well, I posted here two years ago, but I bought the DVDs three years ago- the day they came out, actually- Sept. 12th 2006, IIRC.
No, 2006 actually. :-)
