Of course it's safe to live in estonia, everyone is yt.
@avitalshelva @analogueapples @allankuningas Interesting comments about authoritarianism. I'm curious. What is your point of view on the recent and upcoming VAT updates that the government decided to implement? I am particularly interested in how Estonians react to this kind of things, because I was born and lived most of my life in Argentina, then in Spain, now in Estonia, on a long journey to find a country where people do not allow the government to invade their lives, among other things that connect me strongly with Estonia. Now I see this kind of arbitrariness that... yes, I know they always find a justification like it is for the common good, or the military defense from Russia, of course, yes, all things that sound good and seem logical to me, but you never know if they are really going to use that money for what they said in their speeches. You never know if the only way to improve these aspects was to take more money from ordinary people. With the promise of “saving their lives” governments always had ways to become bigger and more powerful, and richer… it is called populism, or even clientelism. And as a person who knows this perfectly well from Argentine and Spanish politicians, I can assure that it never ends well.
Oh, no. It’s not dead. Keep in mind, this is coming from a 40-year-old who decided to pursue his undergrad online to secure a decent living wage. I can’t take anyone seriously who complains too much about the cost of living without acknowledging irrational lifestyle choices, especially when they compare themselves to those with much higher purchasing power. Cooking one's own meals and living within one's means until purchasing power improves is both essential and reasonable. Canada remains a land of lucrative opportunities, and I’ve seen impoverished South Asians rise economically after several years of hard work. So yes, those who work on themselves professionally reap the rewards at any age in this beautiful country, and there’s no good reason to spread pessimism. As of this year’s ranking, Canada is #4 among the best countries to immigrate to. It offers many keys to prosperity and safety, both economically and psychologically. Having lived around the world, I can’t think of a better place.
Interesting. Thanks for sharing your views.
I can think of a better place. It’s called United states of America.
I do think estonians do show feelings and you can chat and laugh and smile but all of those are much subtle and def not forced actions. So compared to forginers it seems like not much. And the serious face is also like genetics. The corners of mouth go downwards for a lot of finnish and estonian people, so our relaxed face looks serious, but actually we just chill and can have sparkling eyes when happy. I have that trouble in other countries when i am in a good mood and just feeling comfortable but people come and ask if everything is okay or am I tired. It is just my face. 😅 I feel like estonians do have an honest face. Like if it is not a big trouble we just let it pass and if we do laugh it is real. So do not have to be afraid people being serious. They will tell if sth is bad, if not they probably just chill. But def estonians are being more open and more expressive. I can see it in my family as well. The socviet opression is now past and younger generations do not have the fear of expression.
@Meehuuu I don't want any of this "crazy" culture to change. That's why I moved to Estonia, among other reasons; I feel very comfortable with this "cold" behavior (I don't feel "cold" at all by my own standards, otherwise I wouldn't feel comfortable, on the contrary, for me THIS is normal and I hope it stays that way, everything else always seemed "crazy" to me). Anyway, a lot of people talk to me and as soon as I arrived I had hours of conversations with strangers (in English, os course, after making it clear to them that I am learning Estonian but I'm not yet fluent) those who know English have always wanted to chat with me. I am not exaggerating, HOURS. And yes, some of them on the street, or workers who are doing their job in public spaces and I am walking, try to have a little chat, in Estonian of course :), because they just assume that I am not a foreigner, I am clear about that and they already tell me that if I do not clarify, I seem like another Estonian girl/woman, so that is probably why I receive some small talk, at least that is my experience, but they do not do it in that annoying, invasive, intrusive way as people from other “warm” countries do. So yes, I love Estonia as it is, and is good to me that these behaviour considered weird or ugly for others, so that they do not come to bother hahah :D
Estonians are definitely spiritual, just not by any major religion's standard. They do believe in afterlife, ghosts, higher power, etc. It is usually just not confined within a single standard religion.
Yes very true.
Very good and true
I always find rich when we are so concerned about the immigrants, who have brought the cost of housing way up, rather than the people who have been here for generations and have had to see their country change in this way, and have no other country to go to.
You have a really valid point. But the question here becomes who are Canadians exactly and how many generations should we count before we consider someone a Canadian :)
@@MananAnwar Ask a first nations person and they'd say none of us. Course new immigrants don't even bother to learn about first nations
THERE ARE NO DOCTORS, HOUSES OR JOBS FOR EVEN CANADIANS THEMSELVES. TRUDEAU WANTS TO BE A DICTATOR AND WANTS TO THROW INNOCENT CITIZENS IN JAIL FOR WHAT THEY SAY. SO THERE IS NO MORE FREEDOM HERE. IF YOU WORK, THE GOVT TAKES HALF YOUR PAYCHECK. IT'S BEST NOT TO COME. IMMIGRANTS ARE STARVING AND LIVING ON THE STREETS.
Costco really be replacing the church in terms of bringing people together sounds like lol

It has to do also with the "iron curtain" and evolving forward from that sad and backward culture. One generation may not be enough.

Can I apply after completing my 4 years bachelor programme and then 4 years work in total of 8 years living? Will be my full 4 years study period count for citizenship criteria?
yes for citizenship. Not for PR.
This single mom topic, is it really single moms or moms who are not married? I know plenty of families where parents are not married but living together and parent their kids together. So kids born outside of marriage is a normality here but it does not mean that parents are not together or mother is singleparenting.
Why there is written Manangile and Manangiga? Where the G comes from? It should be Mananile if your name is Manan.
just a question - why there is a feeling now that everyone around me (expats) in Tallinn is leaving ? is this true? is the immigration negative ?
Will know more when end of year statistics come.
Shaking hands have changed after Covid in many countries. And personally being Danish I don’t want to too close to other pps in general, pls give me space.
English is spoken by people and during events? is there activities and sport to do ? What is the budget for rent there ? is there muslims and halal food ? in Talinn. any cycling path ? do we need to have a car or there is public transportation ?

What are the prisons like, so the Estonians will have an influx of Uk prisoners
I am an Estonian who lives in Western Europe for 20 years now and I still, time to time, find rather uncomfortable to show my feelings or warm greetings like kisses on cheeks and hugging 😮

So true! Mini "your" country. Like we have a mini Estonia here in Canada. Some people have said that my book "Minu Kanada" is like Estonia in Canada (minu Eesti Kanadas), and for me it means that I've really managed to convey what it means to live here. I also find that it was easier to find your place here in Canada rather than a country where you have an established nation. There are over 50% immigrants in Toronto. We somehow understand each other better because we or our parents or grandparents had the same experience of leaving our home country and starting new life here. I enjoyed your videos of Canada. Järgmine kord anna teada, kui siin oled, ja ma tutvustan sulle Eesti kogukonda 😉
First sauna, then water. Offcourse
what about cyber security jobs including soc analyst, ethical hacking, security engineer, forensic , blue teaming
Good possibilities.
Numbers 1, 2, 5, 6, 9 are leftovers from xUSSR. All other former parts have similar behave.
If someone asks "are all these kids with the same mom/dad", it is super rude. It is something that is discussed among close friends, of course, but close friends don't have to ask the question, they already know. So, I don't know who have you been talking to :D One of the reason for low household numbers are elderly people living alone as well. What was the single mom statistics created based on? Since people here don't get married but live together raising children, is this considered "single" mom? Maybe you put too much meaning behind not accepting snacks... I'd say it is more about do I like what you are eating .. and also I think we think you have bought it because you wanna eat it, so we let you :D I think the naked sauna thing is a bit of a myth. Yes, kids go with parents, but mostly up to a certain age. In my experience as an Estonian, I'd say when men and women go to sauna together, towels or bathing suits are used. Even if it is not mixed it depends how comfortable people feel with each other. Maybe naked mixed sauna is a thing more common in Estonian expat community 😆
Total expense
Bro how much it cost to go to Estonia from Pakistan on work visa

Do you think it is ok for Estonians to take sides and comment on American politics? They do all the time so we can do the same.
Thats the whole point of having freedom of speech, isn't it.
We have a saying that in Estonia, president is only 2 phone calls away because somebody always knows somebody who knows somebody here. And every person you meet probably has a mutual friend or family tree member with you
Actually true in my experience.
You left estonia?
These are very Finnish things as well 😌
I moved here 19 years ago. I really enjoyed hearing your thoughts. All the best!
Since Canada's birth rate is below replacement, a few years ago one of the political parties made it their official policy to have immigration. Since then all the parties have adopted this stance of immigration for national growth. I absolutely 100% agree on this. The only question is on how to execute that - what requirements do you need to have in order to be accepted as an immigrant. At the start of the Ukraine invasion we should have invited a million Ukrainians to come, some will stay. Canada is already 5% Ukrainian by decent.
Canada has a pretty good point system in place for skilled immigration. Many other countries have copied it, most recent example is Germany.
@@MananAnwar Have you permanently moved to Canada, if you won't mind me asking?
Good question! Would you update us on leaving Estonia?
