WCBS 880 post DST aircheck 11-01-2020
Originally posted for November 2nd, 2024 and got held back on uploading to a networking issue and wasn't back at base till Monday. This aircheck is a sample of an overnight recording of WCBS 880 on the very low fi application known as iTunes, which at the time in 2020, all Audacy stations were still accessible on Versions 11 or 12x (despite the must-reads a couple years before ordering listeners to use the radio-dot-com app,) Like 1010 WINS, you hear how time checks were read esp falling back.
You hear the TOH lead in to 1am DT to 1am ST.
Maria Garcia who did the CBS News On the Hour Marching Ahead the same year, Fell Back at 880, she actually sounds better at the network than local. Also legendary New York radio gal, Anita Bonita did an all nighter, the shift starting the night before. Rebecca Masiros provides the traffic updates remotely through a Zoom/Teams type of connection (hear the echos)

This is part of a nearly 7 hour overnight recording on how radio news anchors read time checks when falling back. Former WCBS-TV and WNYW anchor Mario Bosquez had anchored the march ahead and fall back in 2019 However WINS refused to take WCBS radio’s practice that it’s really Daylight Saving Time…a couple years later WINS changed its sounder and Paul Anthony’s voice over Stay tuned for WCBS’ a...
New Hampshire Statewide EAS test 11-02-2024
มุมมอง 76หลายเดือนก่อน
Clearly non compliant. The tones and message was lower than the audio from NESN. Also the first EAS test came from an NWS base, the second test that followed was a primary entry point of WOKQ (FM) which logically makes sense. But yet the EAS was still softer. The cable system is apparently Comcast Business and not Xfinity.

Where are generally based? My hotel room had Comcast Business cable which I wonder was a contributing factor. Regardless the EAS systems are expected to be seriously given the proximity to Seabrook. And WOKQ has been in decay after Townsquare took off Cumulus’ load

We have news to share about changes to WCBS Newsradio 880. As of August 25, 2024, WCBS AM 880 is off air. The realities of AM radio and the broadcast media landscape have made this change unavoidable. We want to thank our advertising partners, sponsors, and everyone who has contributed to this station over the past 100 years, the last 57 of which were devoted to 24 hour news coverage, but we especially want to thank you, our listeners. Thank you for welcoming WCBS 880 into your homes, cars, and lives for so many years. Thank you New York for listening to WCBS Newsradio 880.

25:54 that’s not true at all lmao
So glad to discover this video. A footnote to this history: Long ago, for a short time, I was News Director for GBH’s little sister station, WGBY in Springfield. From October 1978 through February 1980, we produced our own version of the TOC News by opting in and out of the Boston program - on the fly. They’d send us their rundown and when they were doing Boston stories, we’d opt out and air our locally-produced material. Then a station manager with delusions of national production grandeur canceled it.

I was working in Amityville, LI then, but my wife was down on 13th Street between 2nd and 3rd Avenues. What a scary and sad time. She left in the evening and by that time not a lot of people were in the streets, but first responders. Those first responders and family members are still suffering from those times.

Man, I remember a theme that was very similar to this. We called it the "business channel" when my dad used to watch it. That orchestral sound dum dum dum dum, was in it. I cant tell if this is it. Do you have any pointers to sounds just like this one but might be slightly different?
This was part of the 2003 theme package composed by 615 Music for the use of CNBC between October 2003 to December 2005. There is at least 12 different cuts for various programs on the day plus bumpers, stingers, etc. and 615 composed other show themes like On The Money a few years later. 4:47 7:09 This is CBS.
It's not about pointing blame, because we all know they had to make incredible compromise's about where they could build this thing. The lesson of the whole story is that you can't just build a tunnel exactly where you want to, and that the tax payers should have been better informed on what the product would entail. Them "finding out" that the tunnel would cost more due to poor soil conditions is inexcusable. These people have little or no hesitance to fleece state budgets, and make you feel guilty for even suggesting accountability. Because YOU'RE not the expert, and they are, so shut up an let us do our job. And if you don't crystalize that moral, it'll just keep happening.
"Accountability" is often pushed to a more powerless and vulernable group and people in power who have actual responsibilities really got away unscathed. Ironically despite the flaws of a decades ol project for 93 in southern NH, they actually did well to get 4 lanes from Manchester to Salem without much of an engineering problem. There is still pockets of widening but they dont have to worry about what happened 40 miles south for sure.
This video has picked up in views 4Q 2023, after WGBH has posted podcasts on the infamous project. I'm glad I had posted this late last year and seeing that people are interested in it.
I saved the Sunday Globe Magazine that had a picture of rats on the cover with the caption 'how will I get home" discussing the traffic situation. Since I worked on the North Shore, my solution was to move to Charles River Park - Longfellow Place!

Wow. I remember this day. There was a brief patriotic rise in buying, but then reality hit again and the market just dropped like a rock. The fear had taken over again, and the 9/11 recession had begun.
Much of the damage was done before 9-11 as Nasdaq had hit 5k and was down to 1.6k here. 2000-2002 was the most brutal stretch since the Great Depression.
thanks for sharing this. i have fond memories being a kid driving through boston at night with my old man and seeing all the towering buildings lit up before the big dig. Thanks again

@@GagaLuvr15 I am not aware of any of these claims that's been brought up. My legal team has recommended me that I do not comment any further.
You caused someone to have a suicidal meltdown by telling them they were demonic and a bad person for the way they were born. That's where that statement happened from. You came into an autistic safe space and called people you didn't know assholes for something they were born with. That is not advocacy. Also there was no claim of "speaking for all high functioning autistics." You however did says all high functioning people are assholes, so you spoke for all of them. You also can be neurodivergent and allistic. Allistic just means you're not autistic, which you have said about yourself. Oh and you doxxed them in your thumbnail great job.
