I hate to bust the DX7 bubble but no one actually used the sound from them, the DX7 was the poser keyboard for playback shows. It was in every TV studio, in every gear rental shop, etc. The sounds were hardly used, look closely and you will see no cables coming from DX7 in many videos. They were just set pieces. Totally the fake video keyboard.

In the playback videos the actual synth played on the track could be anything. They just rented a Jupiter for the video because it was the most expensive one at that time.

Been there nd done that, owned a ton of classic synths and sold them all a few years ago. They break down often, parts are hard to find (sometimes obsolete and no chance), and servicing them is a PITA because it costs, you have to deliver yourself or else they may get damaged by courier services. Another reason for me selling the classics came down to the music 'business' no longer paying decent money, less than a penny per stream on Spotify, I wouldn't get out of bed for that. The internet has destroyed the music business, piracy is so easy now, and without any deterrent for those not willing to buy something that gives them so much enjoyment. It is good to see that finally, pure greed is being stamped out by the falling prices for 'vintage' machines that are aging every hour that passes, bringing with that problems in the future that may not be resolved, then you are stuck with scrap.

Separate ways is a great tune, but the video is pure cringe.

Why do people get so mad about this stuff? If people want to spend money to own the real thing, that’s fine. It doesn’t harm anyone else. Weird that people get all aggressive like ‘if you don’t agree with me that software and/or Beh clone sounds identical to your hardware Prophet/Oberheim/Moog you’re wrong and a terrible person!’ People need to chill.

Ok, I´m just a hobbyist but attracted by synths since 1978 when I bought a Korg MS10 (and an insane Hohner Favor Combo "organ"). Later on there was a little(!) collection of used synths until I bought a new Roland JP8000 for over DM 3.500 (!). Then I stopped my musical "ambitions" and sold all my synths at a ridiculous low prize (the best offer for the JP8000 in mint shape was € 600). In 2020, after trying some VSTs (no pleasure), I´ve started with synths again ... with Behringer. Why? They sounded good, the prize-value-relationship was Ok for me and when selling it might be just a loss of maybe € 50 (and not a loss like the JP8000 sale). In the meanwhile there´s no more Behringer synth in my setup but they were the starting point. Today there are a lot of interesting and wonderful synths available and a 2nd market where you can save a lot of money. I know, there is a "vintage hype" but if you are not able to fix any issues by yourself, a vintage instrument might be like a vintage car. You might spend a lot of money servicing these instruments (not everybody has the talent of "Scott´s Synth Stuff" who presents excellent servicing videos). Therefore I agree (in parts) to Espen Kraft or Jeffrey Petro and I agree that some companies try to get the highest prizes on the market (in the automotive industry ... I know very well ... they do ... that´s economy). Nevertheless, I´m just a hobbyist (as mentioned before) and I enjoy my synths (maybe not the "flagship" synths of a certain brand) and I enjoy making music for my own pleasure.

I totally agree , more and more videos saying that a berhimger is better than an OBX-A, or 808 ; or even reissue by Obeheim ( OBX8 ) . Espen pushed the guy ( who is a very famous sound designer for all big companies) from inhalt to make a response also . I see SO MANY videos on u tube about synth from 70 to early 2000s full of bullshits . The problem with u tube , 90 percents of channels are totally incompetent idiots. Watch Anthony Marinelli channel and channel like this ONLY . The rest is BULLSHITS

I read completely stupid answer below . I own a 808 and i am planning to sell it ….NOT BECAUSE IT DOESN T SOUND BETTER BECAUSE I NEED MONEY!!!!. A real 808 kill all the shit berhinger type clone ( use samples u will save money from berhinger shit products) nothing sound like a real 808 .
