Silliness is good.
Spike Milligan, the godfather of silly comedy, is always here with us, even though he told us he was ill.

How did this song come into being? I'm legit curious, it's one of the funniest things I've ever heard. Is it a real piano or a crank piano or what's going on, plus the trumpit and stuff? I don't know too much about Spike Miligan sadly, so I'm at least a little curious.
sheer genius... my major influence for Throovest. Does anyone know the history of getting the German youth band playing a version? Nobody seems to know how that came about?
I love the celebratory "yes!" at 3:47 as if they're finally rounding off a lengthy, highly detailed story. "Phew, we got through it, eh lads?"
i used to go to a comedy club in Melbourne in the 90's where famous local comendians would try out new stuff, and they always began the night with this clip on a projector screen
We should get this remade for Comic Relief. Alan Carr bottom right. Stephen Fry either in middle or as Peter. Then I don't know.
Do you know where this was from? I remember listening to this on an old tape of my dad's. Reminds me of Reeves and Mortimer. Was it a radio programme - do you know the title? Cheers
Today's kids haven't got a clue
Brilliantly unbelievable
Who WaS ThaT Bum..........
Genius. Still funny
Two many fluffed lines.
Is that two as in the number or *too*
I used to think this was funny.
This still makes me laugh, brilliant comics
PURE MING 😊
A SONG FOR EUROPE 😅❤
Haha forgot this was so funny. Remember watching when it first aired, but not seen it since. Thanks.
You lyin get
@@simonsimon325 I watched this clip in a mirror over my left shoulder!
A very complex routine brilliantly conceived and performed. Of course, it's a direct satire on the theme tune of the Richard Greene series (and of similar shows, such as "The Adventures of Sir Lancelot"), but Dudley Moore's outsize pointed hat is surely directly taken from the largely missing 1953 series of "Robin Hood" starring Patrick Troughton in the title role (and wearing a similarly styled, if somewhat smaller, hat).
It's the buzzer that makes it!
I started it

I heard that rumour !
The greatest story never told.
This is one of those things I find fucking hilarious and other people just humour me when I show them it’s absolute wonder I was going to say everyone who didn’t like this was a cunt but that seemed terribly inappropriate
So much love and respect in the comments below. To the morbid people who want this at their funeral...I would say 1 thing.. I HOPE YOU ARE STILL ALIVE? So glad my Dad let me watch this along with Marty Feldman and Python.....and our family fav's Morcambe/Wise and Dave Allen...thnks for posting. Peace
Hear hear
For those who don't know... This is funny.
I do believe you are RIGHT! They don't do songs like that anymore, more's the pity of it.
Utter musical genius that sadly we will never see the likes of again.
I'm from 2023
This was in the first episode I ever saw of Vic Reeves, and I gave myself an asthma attack laughing. Still my favourites.
You lyin' get!😂😂😂
I can’t stop singing this!!!😂😂😂
This is the ringtone on my phone from 50 seconds in. It'll never be confused with anybody else's phone. It turns a few heads sometimes.
Did they know Bobby Carpets?
Singular the best piece of comedy ever
Spike Milligan was an absolute comedy genius who led the way for other comedians ...
To this day I still whistle this song whilst working as a 'leg lagger and general sprout vendor' much to the dismay of younger generations.
Daft but so funny
0:57
It's the failed whistling that gets me every time.
0:15

From the days when tv didn't broadcast SHITE......
Utter genius. Be yourself, don't copy anyone!
Genius!
One of the best things they ever did

I heard that roumour
@@richardallen6226 I know I started it! I watched that clip, through a mirror over my right shoulder!
A most fascinating tale indeed...but who is it about?
Robin Hood. Alan a'Dale was one of his followers in Sherwood Forest, along with Maid Marion, Friar Tuck, etc.
pure class
Look at Heston Blumenthal over here
As a Scot it Hilarious...lol
Almost sounds Welsh
"You lying get" 🤥🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
"YOU lying get!"
Taken me back this has... Absolutely crying with laughter.
Ignore the accompanying written commentary, as the person posting the video couldn't get to grips with predictive text! 😃😂😄😐😯
UK Eurovision entrant 2022
Anyone know where I can get the lyrics?
Yes. Play it back and pause while you write them down...
