2.4 billion dollars budget for F-16V almost exhaust the entire budget of the DND AFP. Not a good idea. AFP has plenty of priority projects which is also important in AFP Modernization. Choosing FA-50 block 20 is the most practical and a good choice for AFP without downgrading effectiveness. FA-50 block 20 can perform 90 percent of an MRF mission.

I beg to disagree. Wrong move. The FA-50s were purchased as trainer jets. Not intended to be MRF. They were meant to bridge the gap to MRF. The PAF had nothing at the time, after decommissioning the last of the aging F-5As. They have limited funds, as they point out over and over, so why buy more FA-50s? The next purchase should be MRFs, US F-16s or Swedish Gripens. One or the other. For interoperability with our allies, I would favor and lean more towards the F-16s, since every air force in the world already has F-16s. Maybe start off with 3 or 4 F-16C from mothballed stocks at Davis-Monthan AFB near Tucson, just to get stick time on the darned things. Then progress and buy 12 brand-new F-16V just as Taiwan has ordered.
