Koala traversing branches at SD zoo
It's always nice to catch a koala moving at the San Diego zoo instead of spotting one napping, although the ones I've seen in Australia are more active than these ones.

Snorkeling La Jolla Shores with Tons of Bat Rays Underfoot - 24 Jul 2021

Another San Diego, California La Jolla Shores Dive. On this dive we came across more than 2 dozen (24) bat rays. We also lucked out and spotted a horn shark and a Shovelnose Guitarfish. Our dive began right off of the Marine Room entry point where after only about a minute in the water we came across the rays. It was really exciting to see this many hanging out together in such close proximity....
Snorkeling La Jolla Shores and a Lot of Leopard Sharks - 14 Aug 2021

San Diego, California - La Jolla Shores We went snorkeling to find Leopard sharks and found a whole lot of them at La Jolla Shores, just off of the Marine Room. Although we did see a lot of them, there was a lot of sediment and so visibility was not that good. It would be lovely to see these sharks in clear water, but this was the best we could manage on this trip.

Our dog found a baby mockingbird, the parents were up in the tree nearby so hopefully this chubby thing keeps getting fed.
Seagull Chaperones Baby Sea Lion at La Jolla Cove

This seagull seems to be chaperoning or chasing the baby sea lion. At first I thought it was just pecking at the poor thing, but then the gull scares off some of the other birds.

Trying out the Tamron SP 150-600. Even with my image stabilization on and a tripod, was getting a bit of a shake. I guess I need a heavier tripod.

I remember this storm. I saw a lot from Mission Valley. Was this taken in the north city? I think that area got more good flashes like this.

its not hard when you simply use the same set and change the cladding. mother fuckers couldnt even be bothered to move the control panel a few inches to the right, i bet its just a CGI fasard...

Those feel like a way to save on more complicated sfx. Blip and gone, easier to do.

Literally just a fade and composite shot, TNG was doing more with less in 1992. Check out "Realm Of Fear."

Seem to recall TOS did it as well with Mirror Mirror. Man, if all people get out of Discovery is the special effects, no wonder the writers don't have to try hard.

@@darkfalldoug LOL I wasn't expecting that, I figured you were linking to a different movie. You can't make fun of Dr. McCoy's attitude after that scene.
An unusual choice. I like the "scan lines" in TNG, made it look like it was scanning you more thoroughly before taking you apart. Of course makes less sense then that it also does the "scan lines" before putting you back together. Every effect after that just seemed like an incremental evolution, like Voyager's looks like a slightly different model transporter to the Enterprise D's - which it was. The Enterprise E's effect in the movie I think was meant to look like a higher resolution version of the TV show. Like it's supposed to look the same, but we made it more detailed for the big screen. The Cardassian-built transporters in DS9 looked completely different (and pretty good too) but that made sense, those transporters were built by a completely different civilization.

This is very cool! I am a rookie to all of this, but looking to do one that has 4 buttons with a movie clip on each or one button with multiples on it. What is the best way to do it so it is stand alone from PC for a display? Thank you!!
Well this whole thing was written in Python which you can also do on your PC. The code would be a bit different since it was written specifically for a Rasbperry Pi and I guess it would depend on how the buttons are recognized on your computer.
Do you mind sharing the script and maybe a small how to? :)

Have you tried to adapt this for the PI Zero? Also a 10 key membrane board perhaps? Interested in an expanded sound board preferably using the zero to create a small footprint.
I haven't but the finished project ended up in with a raspberry 3 so I don't think it would be too difficult.
