What does it do to a person when they feel invisible?
มุมมอง 3021 วันที่ผ่านมา
What does it do to a person to feel invisible and spit out by a system they believe should have protected them? Listen to Rich Harwood's answer here, and consider the following: When you come across someone you disagree with and you judge their actions and beliefs, how might your approach to communicating with them differ if you knew that deep down inside, they felt overlooked and discarded - a...

มุมมอง 2728 วันที่ผ่านมา

Over the past 35 years, Rich has used his philosophy and practice of how community leaders can solve shared problems and deepen people’s civic belief worldwide to tackle some of the most deeply divisive issues. As Rich explains, we need a better way to communicate through change, where we get out of the cul-...
Ep 138: Stick to sports!
มุมมอง 3หลายเดือนก่อน
This episode exposes a cunning and sometimes dangerous communication tactic we employ when we face disagreement or opposition. The “stick to sports” clapback that has pervaded our discourse on deeply challenging and controversial topics is an attempt to limit another human being, relying on strict and uncompromising assumptions and presumptions about who they are and the value they bring to a p...
Ep 137: Aden Nepom | Communicating through change at work and letting go of past expectations
มุมมอง 132 หลายเดือนก่อน
Aden Nepom helps people build better habits around communication and collaboration to experience more joy in their work through her work with her company, Art of Change. Ep 136: You're 2 questions away from becoming a more curious person
มุมมอง 232 หลายเดือนก่อน
If you want to bring about real, lasting, sustainable change in others, your efforts will be greatly helped if you become a more curious person. As I explain in this episode, curiosity about others leads to greater understanding and less reliance on forcing others to change. To give yourself a boost of curiosity, there are two questions you can begin asking yourself to set up more positive conv...

มุมมอง 213 หลายเดือนก่อน
Tim Wenzel is back on the show to discuss his book, "The Kindness Games," which he co-authored with Lee Oughton. Tim was my guest in episode 104, where he shared how the original idea of The Kindness Games came about. Ep 134: Are sunk costs sinking your communication?
มุมมอง 103 หลายเดือนก่อน
Is an unawareness of sunk costs sabotaging your communication efforts? We often hold on to decisions, beliefs, and strategies simply because we’ve already poured time, money, or energy into them, even when we know they are no longer serving us well or are no longer aligned with who we are. Understanding the role that sunk costs play in our decision-making - and how to work with them, not agains...
Ep 133: Vikram Mansharamani | Approaching life, conflict, and uncertainty as a generalist
มุมมอง 263 หลายเดือนก่อน
Our society spends an awful lot of time and energy trying to categorize and label people. From your political affiliation to your religion to your generation to your level of schooling, each "box" comes with it expectations of who and what you are, and as a result, a prediction of how successful you'll be in your chosen pursuits. My guest in this episode is Vikram Mansharamani, author of the bo...
Ep 132: The story I'm telling myself is...
มุมมอง 114 หลายเดือนก่อน
How can you make your disagreements more meaningful? Too often, when conflict arises, there's an understanding that a disagreement is present, but rarely do we take the time to truly understand why the disagreement is there in the first place. This happens everywhere - at work, within family dynamics, with friends and significant others, in the political and social sphere. If you look closely, ...

Acturally, not everyone can. The actor "Adam Driver says he's seen The Force Awakens, but that he also almost vomited during the movie premiere screening from severe anxiety." Some people just can't. But, great video nonetheless
Absolutely agree...there are always exceptions, and I don't want to discount someone's very real mental health concerns. I appreciate you pointing it out. Thank you.
Dear, you are making very good videos, your video quality is very good. Only maa your videos are not getting views because of seo, if you do seo properly your videos will get a lot of views, give me your gmail address, so that I can inform you more about this, and we can discuss.
Facts- connection-really hard to get out of my head. When I let the heart run my life, I can live authentically. My sober coach has been my life saver. I could never repay her but to live authentically/sober. ❤❤
Beautifully said. Thank you for sharing!
Hello, I was given your name from my sober coach. I am fairly new into recovery and have to be in front of a large group tomorrow presenting. I am just starting to come out to be my authentic self, so thank you for your videos to help me.❤
Hey there! I appreciate the kind words, and I'm glad to know this is helping. Best of luck to you in your presentation...remember, tell your story as only you can. You're not an actor, you're a human being with a story and a perspective to share.
This is really interesting but politics may not be the best "proof" for this sort of thing because Republicans are demonstrably more corrupt then Democrats. If you look at the last dozen or so presidential administrations the ratio of indictments coming out of them is about 10 to 1. Look it up it blew my mind but then it made sense.
Hi there! Would you be able to share where you got those stats from? Not disagreeing with you...I'd just like the context. Let's agree that those statistics are correct, it seems to me that this is exactly what David is cautioning against. Let's take an indicted Republican as an example ... now, let's say that a Democrat was indicted for the same thing. Would the response or feeling be the same in both situations? When it's "our side," we have a tendency to say something like, 'Well, sure, what they did was bad/wrong, but look at how bad the other side is! They're way worse!"
In the documentary White Right: meeting the enemy you can see the exact moment Jeff Schoep starts having second thoughts about his beliefs. Truly powerful.
It is remarkable and inspiring what true curiosity and empathy can bring about. You're right, Jeff even said his heart began to change during the interview, especially when Deeyah Khan told him stories of herself as a child.
Just found you through the algorithm, Loved this video!
I'm so glad you enjoyed it! Welcome!
