Installing the body on the 49 chevy ls swap air ride custom chassis
In this video I'm installing the body on the 49 chevy ls swap air ride custom chassis. After many months of installing the air ride custom suspension and restoring the chassis it's time to drop the body back on. The body doesn't just drop on the new custom chassis though, I find out there is a lot of floor panels that have to be cut out in order for the body to seat correctly over the chassis. Most of the trunk pan area has to be cut out to clear the rear step notch and air suspension. The transmission tunnel also has to be mostly cut out to clear the much larger 4L60E trans and driveshaft. I can't believe how sick the 49 Chevy looks after getting the body on and rolling the car out from under the hoist all the hard work is starting to pay off. Stay tuned for the next video I'll be continuing to fit and mount the body and start to reassemble this custom deluxe chevy.

This is my Jimenez Bros 2 link air ride suspension final install video part 2. I'm finally seeing the light at the end of the tunnel on this rear suspension install for the 1949 Chevy Styleline deluxe. After the last video where I mocked up the parts and tack welded everything in place It's time to final weld all components and test the suspension travel. Everything went pretty smooth overall I...

This is the Jimenez Bros 2 Link air ride suspension kit install part 1. I'm installing this kit on my 1949 Chevy Styleline Deluxe coupe. This video wasn't intended to be a how to video but rather a basic outline of my process installing it on my car. If you have any questions about the kit or installation process don't hesitate to ask questions. So far in this part 1 video the kit really wasn't...

I use a single stage chassis paint called chassis saver its readily available at most auto parts stores or online. It's a really easy to apply chassis coating...
LS Swap chassis rust removal 1949 Chevy coupe
มุมมอง 4032 หลายเดือนก่อน
In this episode I start the rust removal on the LS Swap chassis for the 1949 Chevy coupe. After removing the 75 year old chassis out from under the 49 Chevy Styleline deluxe I realized how scaly and dirty the frame rails were. Luckily all the rust is just surface rust and there is actually no areas that need replacing. Overall the chassis is in really good shape and should clean up well after I...

Can this 49 Chevy chassis handle an LS Swap ?. I'm going to find out in this episode where I start cleaning it up and prepping it for paint and its new rear suspension. I finally got the 1949 chevy chassis easily accessible and out from under the Styleline Deluxe. I start by knocking off the 75 years of dirt and undercoat and remove the old rusty brake lines and fuel lines. After I get most of ...
Lifting the 49 Chevy body off the chassis
มุมมอง 4284 หลายเดือนก่อน
I'm finally lifting the 49 Chevy body off the chassis after a lot of planning and preparing. I had to plan out a body cradle to set the old girl on, I built a heavy duty wood table out of 4x4's and 4x6's and lag bolted it together. I ran two heavy steel beams across the span of the table to support the rocker area of the 49 Chevy. I'll be welding the rockers to the steel beams so it can't slide...

Well, bad azzzzzzz. Very nice stance
Thanks man! It’s all about the stance with me.
Looks amazing. I have a 51 coupe I'll be trying to do the same. Thanks for the great videos. Keep em coming.👊
Thanks 🙌🏻 that’s awesome to hear good luck on your build.
It's getting closer and closer to putting some gas in it pretty wild buddy
Man I can’t wait for that day, but I am trying to enjoy the build as much as possible.
Looking good!
Thanks man 🙌🏻
Great video
Are the vent wings hard to install?
No they are one of the easier parts of installing the door glass and regulators.
How much horsepower will it have
Just over 400 hopefully
Definitely need this video. I'm dropping a 4.8 in my 88 firebird. Getting rid of the 305. This'll be my 1st engine tear down and rebuild
Awesome to hear, let me know if you have any questions I’m always glad to help 👍🏻
@@atomicspeedgarage will do i appreciate it
Got this same one same color trying to get it bk running like this one
I’m itching for an update!
Thank you single mom here going to try and see what's going on with my gmc
You’re welcome I hope you figure it out good luck.
thank you for this tutorial.. I am going to attempt to do this on a 4.8 going into an 89 Formula it's going to be Atomic..
Oh that’s awesome to hear, I had an 86 T/A for years loved that car. I hope the video helps good luck with your build. 🙌🏻
@@atomicspeedgarage Thank you sir.
Driving a 4.8 L Sierra 1500, I happened to see this video. I think you did a great job explaining. Whenever a question pops up in my mind, you would address it a bit further into it. I greatly appreciate that you will do a cost rundown at the end of the build. Very helpful. Never having done this before and reaching the end of my 60,s I am now determined to overhaul my 4.8 L, and I will use your videos as a guide and the LS workbook you showed. Is there a chance you can list the kind of tools needed to do this job? I picked up a lot of tool info as you went along, but not all of it. Hence, my question. I really appreciate the time and work you put into these videos. Keep doing what you're doing!!!!
Thanks for tuning in I hope my video helps you get through your build. There’s only a few specific tools I used and that’s the harmonic balancer puller and the torque angle gauge to torque the head bolts which you can order both on Amazon for a really good deal just make sure the harmonic balancer puller says it fits ls engines specifically the truck pulleys. The guide book explains everything easily just do it by the book and you should be good to go. Also replace your front camshaft retaining plate I didn’t do it in the video so I have to go back in and do it, also think about replacing the rear main seal if you have the engine separated from the transmission.
@atomicspeedgarage I really appreciate that information and will heed your advice. I will have the transmission overhauled at the same time. So the main seal is a given at that point. It will be a few months before I get to it. At 210k miles, it needs more than a tune-up. Lifter tick is present at startup, but that's not surprising. I'll start gathering up the tools and parts needed. The book I've already ordered. Good luck on your build, and I'll keep following your progress with interest!
great info, thanks! Q: which mounts did you use for the frame? (PN?).
They are OER part# E291 from Classic Industries
are you flux core welding it all in?
No I’m using Fourney .030 mild steel mig welding wire in a Hobart 220V 175A mig welder with shielding gas.
@@atomicspeedgarage gotcha. Thanks. I we thinking maybe I could do it with flux but I'll go mig
Interested to see how you will modify the floor to fit the driveshaft
Yeah the trans tunnel will get raised so I can drive it layed out, definitely stay tuned I have to cut out a lot of the floor.
@@atomicspeedgarage Yea man watching and waiting. Just seperated frame from body last week and started cleaning and preparing for jiminez bros kit . stocked to see where your build goes
Following this build as I am building a 1950 chevy
Looks awesome man what motor mounts did you use I have the same setup I was looking at the moroso 62530, but it says it’s a long mount wasn’t sure if I would need a short mount
Thanks man! I used ls swap plates with stock SBC mounts and Murray Kustom Rods frame mounts.
@@atomicspeedgarage nice man thanks for the response
You just saved my ass 😂 🤟 have this exact issue right now
Great to hear I hope it helps 👍🏻
Where did you get that gold-colored oil pick up tube that has TWO bolt holes in the flange instead of the factory single bolt hole flange? Name and website of company or even their phone number, please??😁👍 I’m about to do a new Melling high volume oil pump, Cloyes double roller timing chain, and camshaft end cover/torque plate, because my oil pressure in my very recently acquired 2006 GMC Savana 2500HD with the 4.8L motor (and strangely but gratefully a factory 4L80-E) with 254,000 miles is at 15-20 psi at idle and maybe 35-40 psi while cruising at 70 mph. 😬 The first suspect is that darn o-ring on the oil pump pick up tube, next is the oil pump itself, and last is the camshaft torque plate. If these do not raise my oil pressure to 40-45 at idle and 60-80 at cruising speeds of 70 mph, then I must have a really worn out engine with bad bearings and piston rings.😬 There is that “oil barbell” in the oil galley on the back driver’s side of the motor that should be replaced as well, just have to find out which is best (aluminum, supposedly) and where to buy it. I was thinking of throwing an ATI Fluidamper on it instead of reusing the old, heavy, factory harmonic balancer… a “while you’re in there” kind of thing… but am wondering if it is truly that much of an upgrade for a cargo van that’s a daily driver? Long tube headers and a true dual inlet/dual outlet muffler would work much better than the heavy factory cast iron exhaust manifolds and the factory “2 in/1 out” muffler. Yeah, the muffler has two 2.5” (or maybe even 3”?) pipes going in and only ONE single pipe of the same size as one of the ones going in coming out of it??!! Maybe it’s designed that way for more back pressure in order to help create a little more torque? But I’m thinking “it has true dual exhaust all the way back to the muffler, so why not to the tip of the exhaust pipe?!😂 Anyways, sorry for the long comment, but this van needs to be bulletproof and every little thing helps. Keep up the good work!!😎👍
I bought a budget oil pan swap kit off of Amazon part # 302-2 it came with that oil pick up tube. They are still on there it seems like a very nice quality kit for the price. Good luck with the build and thanks for watching 🙌🏻
I'm so disappointed in Chevy, I'm selling my 2018 Silverado 3500HD and I'll never buy a Chevy again. I'll tell others to not purchase Chevy also. Chevy should be ashamed of themselves for such sub par quality.
Nice job!! Looks cool man!😎
Thanks!! I agree 😁
Is this car gonna be one you keep or sell once you are done with it?
I’m not sure yet I’ll have to wait till it’s done and see how much I like it, there’s always something else that catches my eye and next thing you know the 49 is up for sale lol.
Great job, your videos is very helpful I'm working on a frame just like the one you got but mines is getting set up with hydraulics, Thanks for posting your videos
You’re welcome thanks for watching, sounds like you got a cool project going 👍🏻
Just experienced this. I would turn to on position, cluster lights would flicker like cel and traction control, no start. Jiggled it and sure enough. I'll get in there and check the harness. Great to know where to start!
I hope it helped good luck 👍🏻
Having same issue right now.. I will check that wire issue.. Thanks for info. This has been driving me nuts.
You’re welcome hope it helps 🤞🏻
The stock master cylinder in under the driver floor board and the lines move to the passenger side and run down the passenger side.
Yeah I guess I don’t understand why when the master is on the driver’s side, I’m converting to a firewall mount dual pot M/C I’m going to run the rear line down the drivers side.
Panhard bar looks good but I would have threaded out that heim joint a few turns before welding that bracket on the axle….those nuts look jammed up with only adjustment to one side.
Yeah I did think that after I welded it but there’s a little there for adjustment, I wouldn’t want to have to move the bracket but I could. I could shorten the brackets on the other side too if I had to. Thanks for watching
Awesome video, J.R.! Very educational. Can’t wait to see it all painted. Huge progress! Keep up the great work!
Thanks Scott!! I can’t either I’m getting close to putting the body back on.
Great video! Is your intake new? If not how did you get it so clean?
Thank you! It’s not new but it did come off an ultra low mileage engine.
Came extremely handy!! Thanks for this video bro!! Like you said there’s not a specific vid for 49-54. This is a life/time saver considering I didn’t get any directions.
Glad to hear brother, if you have any questions on the install don’t hesitate to reach out.
@@atomicspeedgarage i actually do man. I don’t see the shock model numbers you used on the descriptions?
@NMZIA damn yeah I forgot to grab them before I left the shop I will send you them tomorrow and update the video details.
Hey brother I updated the description with the shock numbers I’m currently running the Monroe 5752 with a compressed length of 8.625 I also bought the Monroe 555003 which has a compressed length of 9.625” the Jimenez kit comes with Monroe 32207 which is 11.25” compressed. Hopefully I’ll get enough lift from the new part numbers won’t know till I get the body back on.

Thanks Dave!! That’s what I’m thinking there’s not much left that’s dirty or greasy lol.
Is it leather, digital dash, floor shift 4wd?
lol no none of those it had cloth seats analog gauges and push button 4x4
Nice vid man I’ll go ahead and sub🤙

Thanks Dave!!! Yeah that old 59 has a new lease on life it’s a really cool ride.
I cant wait to ride in this.
Hell yeah bro me too, it’s going to be a trick little ride.
It would be great if you would have explained the shims and the washers and spacers. Did you need the spacers? While it seems simple, it’s best to explain step by step. Just a suggestion. Thanks!
Thanks for this bro!😎 🔥
