    This video was so helpful! It really gave me an understanding of what exactly is happening with a swayback adjustment. The little paper cutout of the model made it really easy to see the shape and how it works. I've always had issues of excessive fabric pooling at the back and now I know why! Thanks for sharing.

    Hello, I was hoping to see what a puckered seam looks like, and what the reason is that I a top I already have might pucker at the side seams. I thought because the title has the word "fix" that it would say what the problem is and how to alter it. Oh well

    Hi! 😊 This was very informative! I'm wondering, if I want to change the zipper slide on a jacket with the zipper top kind of sewn in to the collar, is that possible? I'm sewing a reversible jacket and thought I had a reversible zipper but I didn't. I live in Norway and have to buy the reversible zippers from us/uk so it's not a quickly done thing. I was wondering if I could just use a normal zipper and then change the slide when I've bought a reversible one? If I was able to explain that well enough 😅

    • @sewwithchelsea
      @sewwithchelsea 28 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Norway! That’s cool. Yes, you should be able to just switch out the slider. Just make sure the zipper you’re sew in looks the same on both sides. You will want to use a molded tooth or metal zipper. Coil zippers lay on the top of the webbing so they don’t look the same on both sides and can’t really reverse. A reversible zipper slider just has a pole on either side or often times the pole can flip over the top of the slider and hang on either side of the zipper. And of course, make sure the zipper gauge is the same so that your slider will fit over the teeth properly. Cheers

    • @sewwithchelsea
      @sewwithchelsea 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Oh man! I’m sorry to hear that. The zipper slider can break if you squeeze it too hard, or it gets bent back-and-forth from squeezing the side separately to much. It can also just be a zipper quality issue. You can replace the slider though without replacing the whole zipper. This is also a no sewing needed process in most garments. Here is a video on that subject: th-cam.com/video/jcrsUA0nPws/w-d-xo.htmlsi=Ei-gsCalkzUKLGj4

    Do you know if this issue is fixable on a warmup jacket with a nylon shell and polyester interior? I’ve had to wash it a couple times and now the zipper is about as wavy as bacon, but it used to look nice and straight. I’m hoping there’s a fix without having to resew it, because I didn’t originally sew the garment. I have the ability to if needed but I’m a novice and don’t want to ruin the jacket.

      You can design a veil any way you like. The nice thing about tulle is that it doesn’t fray so you do not need to hem it ever. I’ve made a few emails with no hem and Swarovski crystals sprinkled all over it. Those were beautiful veils. Trust your instinct. What do you think is a nice combination of decorative details?!?

    I have a two way zipper that was missaligned, both pulls were stuck but several inches apart. I was a ble to free the upper zip. then slide it to the bottom. I am not able to separate the zipper at the bottom now. Sliding both upper and lower zipper puls to the bottom, The teeth seem to be misaligned by 1/16th " and I can't get the pull to slode off the otherside to separate the zipper Any ideas? The pulls are metal and seem to be in good condition.

    • @sewwithchelsea
      @sewwithchelsea 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It can get tricky when you have misalignment between the pulls. If you are going to open it up by sliding them both down to the bottom at one point you’ll have to pull the longer side through the upper zipper pull. That means the teeth won’t be able to be interlocked at all as you will only want the one side with more teeth to be going through the pull when you do this. I would suggest getting the zipper pulls as close together with each other as possible before you try to do this. Since it is a separating zipper. Are you able to take the zipper stopper off the top of the zipper on the side with the square bottom? You do not want to take the zipper stop off the side with the little peg at the bottom If you don’t have to. The goal her is to slide the top zipper pull right up to the top and off the teeth. slide the bottom pull right down to the bottom, and pull the zipper apart so that it opens and you can separate it in two halves again. If the top zipper pole is still on the top of the side with the peg bottom you can now slide it all the way down and totally off the zipper. Now all you need to do is slide the top zipper pull back onto the teeth on the other side and squeeze the zipper stopper back on to the webbing at the top with a pair of pliers. I show you how to remove and squeeze a zipper stop back on in my TH-cam video on how to shorten a zipper. Once both zipper pulls are back on test your zipper to make sure that you can zip and unzip it normally. My guess is that it got offset either because some fabric got zipped into it and more teeth slid through on one side than the other since they weren’t mesh properly with the fabric in the way. Or, that the zipper pulls are a little bit loose and need to be squeeze tighter around the teeth so that it really meshes the teeth together securely. If the teeth are loosey-goosey as they slide through the pull it’s easy for the zipper to get offset. Let me know how it goes! If you’re still having trouble, shoot me an email and we can connect on a zoom call. then I can walk you through the process step-by-step. That might make a fun TH-cam video to if we record it. Cheers
