After Owning a Suzuki V-Strom 1000 for about 5 years, here is the video of the replacement, bought just before the Pandemic lock down!!
Tight Arse Dealer eh! ... you spend all that money on a new bike and they get your maintenance services for the future (To Honour their 'Lifetime Warranty') and it's too much trouble to add 1/2 a tank of fuel to start you on your way! Words baffle me. Nice bike tho.. enjoy. Regards Mark
comes pretty complete except petrol ! sorry bro but any dealer who cheaps out by not filling a new bike up for the customer is a dog arse! nice bike bro.
You're right, its a bit of a sad thing to do, but as I said, sadly to be expected when you buy things nowadays, you get the least possible to save the company a few penny's!! Cheers for the comment mate.
Good review. The indicators being lit has been a feature on quite a few Honda models. My 2010 Honda CBF600 does that, so does my 1977 Honda CB550F. I hope to be receiving my Africa Twin in a few months.
Thanks for this. I have the latest Vstrom 1000 (2014) as well and I've been hoping someone would do a comparison. I think the AT wins in the looks category too. I did change the can on the Strom & I'm very happy with it. Never get tired of riding it. If the AT was around two years ago it would have been a tough choice though. From what I gather the AT is out-the-box better in the dirt and the big DL is better on the road. All the best!
Good choice although I didnt get the stickers
Nice job. Good little insight from an everyday rider. Every time you turned a corner, my heart would skip a beat as I thought, "He's on the wrong side of the road!!!" Oh yeah, England. 😂😂😂 Don't know if I could get used to that.
Indicators and horn are swapped at least 5 years now, its because of the DCT
Also Honda displayed a new Africa Twin Sports concept three days ago. Apparently, this AT you're riding now is the base model for it. There will be more variants of the AT over the next year or two. The Sports Concept had a bigger fuel tank, offroad focussed flat single-piece suede-top seats, wide/gigantic bash plates, Billet Aluminium bar risers, Termignoni exhaust and a modified tail section.
jake74uk Yes and there is a strong rumor with the patent photos leaked of what appears to be a middleweight AT. Some call it the resurrection of the NX650 Dominator. Then Honda is going ahead with a CRF250L. Looks like an all out assault on the offroad/adv segment is in the future. www.advpulse.com/adv-bikes/2017-honda-nx650-dominator/
Its the US regulation standard. Are they introducing in EU now? The indicators always on thing i mean. Its because it lets the cagers see you coming. Its proven to be effective in the US. The amber lights as per one study says reduced accidents by 33% in the US alone, hence why they haven't gone with the clear ones.
+cagednm69 Thanks for the details, i'm guessing that this regulation is on its way in to the new bikes in the UK! The ones on the Africa Twin are pretty dim though, and didn't show up too much in the light of day, but would probably be most effective in night riding or crappy weather situations (when fair weather riders run for cover!)
Nothing quite like the first ride on a new bike! What made you choose the Vstrom 1000? Did you try similar bikes first?
Hi Matt I chose the Vstrom for a few reasons, I had a 650 and loved that but it was a little under powered so the 1000 makes up for that, I like the V-Twin engine, i think it looks good (some would disagree!), its lighter than the 1200cc bikes and to be honest quite a lot cheaper, (by 4-6000 quid). It might not light too many fires but its an easy, comfortable bike to ride (taking it up to Scotland this year so that will show up any problems!)
