Friction heated Spa Retrofit.
Installing a conventional 2 speed pump, a flow through heater and a new controller into a friction heated spa. Some "economically priced" spas don't actually have heaters. They rely on special friction fittings and scrubbing waste heat from the jet pump. This does work but, it's not very efficient, it is also very noisy and can sometimes lead to the spa overheating. Because this is a "Plug N Play" type of spa that can be plugged into a standard 115volt 15amp outlet. The maximum load we could have is 12 amps. (motor and heat loads require 125% capacity on the supply 1.25 x 12=15 ). The heater is 1000 watts it was drawing 8.37amps @ 120 volts. The pump on low speed was drawing 3.4 amps. for a total of 11.77 amps. The pump draws 10 amps on high speed. The heater and hi speed cannot run simultaneously. The computer is programmed to shut the heater off when high speed is activated. That is demonstrated at the end of the video, when Hi Speed is activated the heat icon, on the LCD starts to flash, indicating that the computer has turned off the heater.

    Hi Scott - Would you be able to tell me what the resistance reading is supposed to be across the element terminals when unplugged from the PCB. Mine is reading 28ohms. Also, from either terminal to earth I am getting 4Megohms when I would have thought it should be infinity. When it is plugged into the PCB it trips the house mains cct breaker as soon as I switch the tub on. With it unplugged the tub switches on okay - but I don't fancy a cold tub over here in the UK! Ha! Ha!

    ANY service that COMES TO YOU, usually charges for that, because they're WORKING, using gas, spending time, making effort.... if you go to the service, like a mechanic, they'll waive the diagnostic fee IF you have your vehicle repaired by them. Common sense... Even most shipping services charge, unless you spend a minimum, where the company breaks even to offer free shipping.

    Maybe she'll let her boss not pay her while she decides how to fix a problem at work. Repair and skilled labor is so shit on by idiots who do not appreciate the knowledge and tools needed to diagnose a job and fix it CORRECTLY!

  • @Lets_get_ready_to_Rumble
    @Lets_get_ready_to_Rumble ปีที่แล้ว

    I don't have a problem with diagnostic fees as long as it goes towards the cost of the repair as well seeing they've already got it torn down

    • @scottbarron1427
      @scottbarron1427 ปีที่แล้ว

      Already torn down? I'll have to put it all back together to see what does and or doesn't work. Plus who knows what they broke. Might be a reason they never came back....like they didn't get paid,

    I was a service writer at an RV dealership. Anyone should know that there’s going to be a diagnostic fee. That why I’d make walk ins sign the agreement. I’d waive the diag fee if they went with us for the work. That’s for walk ins. For service calls, that’s another fee for travel time mileage and gas. My guy still needs paid for his time, not just yours. She could’ve just said “ I’m sorry, I can’t afford that right now, thank you for your time”. Service calls might not be free but apparently audacity is.

  • @josephwilson1119

    I've spent these fees over and over again for a repairman to fix something and it break down before the day is over again. My hot water tank has been broken for 4 years on the RV after I've spent over $1,000 in different repair people to fix it. I don't mind paying fees I don't like it when things don't get fixed and now I'm very leery of repair people because some of them just haven't fixed things that actually have made things worse

      It happens and there are bad techs out there. Not my issue. My expenses don't change because of someone's bad experience with another company. I'll also tell you this. Any company that's willing to send a truck 25 miles to do a "Free Diagnosis" is not sending a technician. They're sending a salesman, who is either going to try to sell you a huge project, or sell you a new product. That's a fact. In this case another company had started the repairs. Removed equipment from the unit, and according to her has not returned her phone calls in 6 months. She didn't even know what brand it was, what year it was, what was initially wrong with it before the other guys messed with it, what was removed from it, BUT expected me to drive a 50 mile round trip with 2 men in the truck (that's 100 man miles, 2 man hours) and "Just take a look". Well there is no "Just take a look"

    Having grown up in and worked in both the residential and commercial HVAC service & installation industry for most of my life, I’ve had this happen more times than I can count. I don’t understand why people can’t grasp the concept of a diagnostic fee. Whenever you bring your car in for service you’re charged a diagnostic fee. And that’s after you’ve brought your car to them to work on!!! Gas and travel time alone cost money. When you work a 9-5 job you’re paid for every hour you’re on the job. Same goes for here. Drive and diagnostic time count. It’s ridiculous that a customer expects that for free.

      It's only self serving. Even as a very small business. I spend a Lot of money on digital marketing. One bad review on Google can hurt you beyond belief. While I've never gotten a bad review. I have seen others get them, and people do read them. If it's our fault we eat it. Which is rare. Even in cases where it's nobody's fault. Let's say a component goes bad shortly after the warranty expires. The manufacturer isn't going to give them a new one. A warranty is a warranty and the customer wouldn't accept the manufacturer saying "It only has a month left on the warranty, just buy a new one". If the thing went bad just before the warranty expired. You explain that to the customer. Offer them a replacement at cost, and maybe reduced labor. I've never had a customer say no, or get angry in that scenario. Because you took the time to explain it, and offered a reasonable solution. Sometimes though a call from the end user to the manufacturer, will get something done. I explain that to them as well. In my business's the question is usually "When" not "How much" and they normally just want the fastest turn around.
