The Twin Engine Motorized Bike Is Back! - "Double Trouble"
No start up really?
there are multiple other videos on my channel of me riding and starting them.
They both look and sound authentic. Well done !
Very cool 👍......How comfortable is the riding position with the old school handlebars?
@@michaelbrinks8089 honestly it’s not horrible. The seat is hard but I have long arms so I’m sitting more upright anyway. I’d say you were 5’7”, you’d want to have the bars up more or else you’ll be kinking your neck.
They’re both very fun and raw to ride though. Making it worth it!
@@samstermotorized I'm gonna see if I can find any info on why old motorcycles used those type of bars which were much different from the bicycle handlebars of the same time period.
Have one, bad clutch. Would love to talk with you about how you fixed yours.
Looks so much better without the big rubber USA bumpers (required for import into the USA).
That bell is just BEAUTIFUL
i appreciate this vid. Nice. BUT - i wanted to hear it.
Gotcha, there are actually a few videos on my channel showing me riding and running the bike.
Let's put your engineering skills on an electric starter motor end multiple gear ratios
What is the top speed
@@hunchomiles2552 it was geared to around 45MPH max
I was going for more toque than speed
What size back sprocket do you have
Do you have to shift it?
Yep! 6 speed.
Damn good job!
What color is this I have the exact same year same bike am looking to redo the oem color headlight
That inline 3, 2 stroke would be cool in a Go-Kart/cross kart....3 diy expansion pipe headers for it.
I haven't sat in or drove a Sonnet 3 but if has that fun to drive Go-Kart feel like a 90s Honda crx. Then I think it has a lot going for it. #1 looks cool & also unique #2 pretty aerodynamic at 0.31cd #3 very lightweight at around 2000lbs. If it had an engine that made 100+hp with manual transmission that had OD. You could have a fun to drive sportscar that also go great mpgs...I was looking at pictures of the 1.7L Taunus V4 with a supercharger on it..If it was mated to a 4 speed with OD would be awesome.
Smells like a nice motorized bike! 🚲
The fact, that even without exhaust pipe it still sounds great is a great tribute to how nice 3 cylinder twostrokes sound. Also Saab motorized bike when?
Sweet deal man. Thanks for sharing.
lol that road is just barely a road.
Sweet
Wow and it still runs awesome bro
This bike is so cool! Makes me want to throw an engine on my old 48 straight bar 😂
I have always loved Saab, from childhood
Thanks for posting this! I liked your sense of humor and the way you described the vehicle and its quirkiness. I am considering buying a '65 88 but am intimated a bit learning all the skills I will need. Great video!
Hope you got it running ! Would suck to see a piece of American motorbike history turned into a lawn ornament ..... Very cool bike !
Thank you! I did indeed get it running and there are multiple videos of it running on my channel!
When's her first real excursion?
To more donations made to NMHR, the sooner 2926 will operate her first mainline excursion out of Albuquerque.
Nope, not the roller coaster it’s a bike
Very nice work on this build! It looks really kuel!💯 Looks like a strong frame to put it in and that the key #1!Looking forward to your next build #2. Keep up the great work my friend and stay safe out there.👍
If your gonna build them don't do anything fake makes your build worthless check mine out every thing built to do its job
It sounds like a little yamaha banshee
Very cool bike.
You could also use a dual brake lever for the clutchs
Where did you buy the engine mounts
They’re all home made out of 1/8 steel plate
is that a 3.75 litre gas tank?
Excellent video fantatic Like and greeting my Friend from Argentina nuevo suscriptor suscribete 😊
I majorly disagree, my car rn is a 72 sonett 3 and it runs beautifully and i have been able to find performance parts to replace the broken ones..... you just have to look deeper than surface level bruh.
You did amazing work I am glad you are still kicking your family is probably scared of what happened but that is part of motorcycling we take risks but we enjoy what we do even when it kills us but that is part of the risk you cannot give up on your passion because of fear for a slow death is worse then dying doing what you love.
Hey there again just wanted to ask what your top speed would have been probably 60 50 mph ? Thanks
It was geared for around 50-55... It honesty probably had enough torque to do it too. Never tried though sadly.
@@samstermotorized would you say that a 30 tooth rear sprocket would be too much for the engine to pull or would the engine be more inclined to torque the sprocket so much as to concern the rear wheel spokes and bolt reliabiltiy thanks again
what im saying is.. would the rear wheel sprockrt experience so much torque that it would destroy the rear wheel setup!!
Being a1971 Sonnett III, it's certainly a 1500 cc V4 Ford engine, called the Essex in the UK, and Cologne in Germany. Interestingly, it was exactly the same engine as that fitted to SAAB 96 sedan and wagon. In SAAB model numbering tradition, the Sonnett is sometimes referred to as the SAAB 97. I understand that it was the first four stroke engine used in SAAB cars. Before that, they were all two strokes, and required a mix of oil and gasoline at each refill, just like a lawnmower.
Dude!
The engine is actually a Ford V4 essex,
Very cool bike bro
was this build faster than the twins you've put together?
What shift kits are you using
Everything but the jackshaft is from sick bike parts.
@@samstermotorized would you need an addittional two shift kits to be able to run four engines?
hey any more content on this particular build
Sadly for this particular twin build no. The multiple other twin engine builds however I do have quite a few of videos on them on my channel.
@@samstermotorized awsome stuff one could only imagine what a four engine bike would be like lol
How tall are you? I’m 6’2” and not sure I would fit in one.
I’m actually 6’5” with long legs and I can fit tether comfortably with the seat all the way back.
My dad bought one new same color . When he converted it from 2 to 3 at the dealer the difference was huge. The handling was excellent and it could eat up any Corvette of its time. Thanks for refreshing the memory.
Could probably use one of the fuel tanks of the cheap 80cc china bike kits. The bike loks alot like them
Yes, it would but remember, I'm keeping the patina
Real nice, I used to restore vintage Hondas. Just curious what town you live in?
@@markray7794 Just north of Albuquerque and I'm actually not making a loony tunes joke lol
@@samstermotorized lol. It looked like nevada.
She's gorgeous.
Would be so cool to ride that beautiful crusty machine down them gravel/dirt roads!
