Homes in the UK have a lot of doors in rooms that I don't normally see in Canada ,like the kitchen. It looks like it would be such a nuisance to deal with and it also takes up a lot of space. Do they even get used very much?

Some open shelving in the kitchen above the sink will look good. It will add some character. Square or rectangle dining table not round. I have round and getting rid!!!

Bit of an odd arrangement, i think it would have worked better switching the bathroom and small bedroom. My family home was 2 years old when we moved into it in 1980, my parents still live there. Coincidentally it was also no 53, a blessed number for sure. I live on a new build estate myself, mix of private and council. Every house on the estate came with a shed and a water barrel rigged up to the drains. The cupboard under the stairs also extends further for a pantry. My 3 bedroom doesn't have en-suite or bedroom cupboards, not sure if the 4 bedroom ones do tbh, personally i'd rather have the space and like proper wood furniture. Bathroom does have a good sized airing cupboard and the down stairs sized toilet is also rather big, i think they try accomodate for disabled folk. Enjoy your forever home, now you need a dog :)
