Saddles that move forward - saddle slip- saddle fitting
Sometimes it’s all about the physics…
There’s lots that we can do as saddle fitters to help the saddle not slip forward - but it mostly consists of clamping the saddle in place. Instead maybe we can look at the reasons why it moves in the first place…
Soz it’s filmed in portrait- it was for social media but I decided to pop it on here too.

LeMieux Gel-Tek Girth Review | On My Own Horse | Saddle Fitter of the Year!
มุมมอง 7Kปีที่แล้ว
Curvy, soft, squishy and strokable... The girth, that's the girth I'm talking about. Ok. But is that enough? Is it enough to be made of buttersoft leather? How does the girth actually FIT onto a horse? And does it WORK? Does it GAPE at the front? Does it distribute the pressure nicely? Does my horse love it? Hate it? I take a look at the girth, try it on my horse, ride in it... and then let you...

Hi Poppy. Can you please do a video on the Ideal Jessica dressage? Or the difference between the Suzannah and the Jessica? I'm trying to fit very broad backed, broad shouldered, mutton withered, chunky Arabians. Im looking for a used Ideal dressage, but Im not sure which model to look for, and we don't have any saddle fitters anywhere near me, in Michigan

I really appreciate your videos! Very helpful when making decisions about fit. Of course that’s what you do but your clear explanations are so helpful. I love the saddle in the video. Iv got a hard to fit Gypsie/Haflinger. Short back and table top! I know I don’t want a treeless:):)::) Any suggestions on a possible saddle. Im “told” a Duett to s good for draft crosses. Any help is appreciated.

This is a very superficial discussion of treeless saddles. I think you know that using a pillow as a surrogate for a treeless saddle is absurd. There are some excellent treeless saddles out there that distribute weight quite well. Gee, a saddle fitter trashing treeless saddles. There's a shocker.

I do have a question. I was always taught wool halfpad should go under the saddle. But when I do it people look at my like I have 5 heads. It’s my underfunding it’s how it is supposed to be used. I assume the shift is because half pads are expensive, and so they put them over the saddle pad to keep them cleaner. But there’s so much more benefit to the wool to be directly on skin. When I asked my stübben saddle, fitter, if I should use a pad with my saddle because my horse needs to gain a little muscle or saddle, doesn’t fit as it should right now, she advised that I was correct and I should use the half pad under my saddle pad m is there any actual difference or benefit one way or the other?

Can I ask do these suit horses with "normal" (not shark fin) withers? I got one the other day (sheepskin version) and the stiff centerline combined with the really big curve on the wither section looks like it'll be liklely to move down and push down on his spine near the base of the wither? When i place it on his back it actually rocks as both the front and the back are angled upwards from the wither base.

Hello. I' m searching treeless saddle only because my horses back constantly is changing depending on season. I dont have enaugh money, to buy for him 3 -4 different saddles, and he is difficult to fit. Saddle i have, only fit him when he drops weight, but when there is grass season or even a few days off, he is starting to get more bulkier (he is on fatty side - he very easily picking up weight, but dropping weight is really difficult). That's why I can't fit him with tree saddles, because they most of the time will not fit him, and even half of year going bareback, I think is to much for his back. Maybe You have another option? I want what's best for him, but more saddles is over budget for me 😅

I spent the entire video completely distracted by trying to figure out what is in your teeth! Can't be a piercing, is it? Looks like a little diamond triangle? Is it actually in the skin? Between the teeth? Or is it some sort of orthodontic device? I've never seen anything like it. As for content, I was searching for a solution to a supremely filthy latigo with dirty so ingrained regular cleaning and a toothbrush wouldn't touch it. I never use hot water but figured I'd give it a try. It might have softened it up some, but i still needed a stiff nail brush to make any difference. Back when I was a groom we used an ammonia mix to lift really bad stuff but I didn't have any to try this time.
